That's an arbitrary point. A rumour was responded to, deconfirmed, and then unexpectedly reopened without a perceived justifiable cause. Most rumours come from anonymous sources, so honing in on the fact that it originated on IMDb is odd given the actor himself had some drive to reopen a closed...

The key take-home point is that he had previously deconfirmed the IMDb rumour. Then, he decided to open it up again over two weeks later spontanously. That's the main reason I lend any credence to it at all.
