Tbh, I like how Sakurai & the team didn't limited themselves to only making references with their Alts. Most of the originals REALLY click with me.

I feel that with so many alts, it would be highly unlikely if Sakurai didn’t explain them. That & the fact he’s a big fan of XC2. He dedicated an entire Famitsu column to it.
