Official Sheik Match Video Critiquing Thread

One of Kentucky's best players is a puff main (Amida), and I'd like to be able to beat him soon. I've done a little bit of refining on my approach on this MU, but still need a lot of work. [Netplay Puff] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odcacQuJyeY

Midwest [Sep 13, 2015] Daryll's Game Jam (Melee) (London KY)

I'm proud to announce that London, KY now has its own tournament every two weeks! So if you are one of the 3.5 people that live in Kentucky, and live too far from Louisville, you can attend tournaments here instead! If we have enough interested people and enough setups we could start having...

Leffen a 6th God in melee

Wow I never looked into it that far. Your in-depth analysis is very convincing, and it has changed my mind a bit. I realized Leffen was good, but not that good. Considering what you've said, I would rank him on par with top 5, earning him the place of god 6. Thanks for the insightful post.

Should Melee HD Be A Thing?

Melee HD would be so hype! That's the problem as well, it wouldn't live up to expectations, and Sakurai would probably ruin it by nerfing everyone.

Leffen a 6th God in melee

I feel Leffen is the king of the demi-gods, he can beat everyone else, yet can't beat the top 5. If he can prove himself, and consistently beat the top 5 several times and win some big tournaments (other gods present), then he will earn his place as the 6th god.

How do you guys practice combos?

Practicing against cpus can help, just don't get too comfortable. Cpus will make the same choices and react completely differently as opposed to a real player. If at all possible, find someone to practice the game with, and play tourney-style sets. If not, just fight bots repeatedly and find...

    Advice to your younger self

Stop refusing to learn how to wavedash properly, just set down and grind it out. It will benefit you so much.

Is it too late to be a competitive player?

Melee has been growing in size, and more new players are joining than ever before. I joined the competitive scene recently, and we have regular events in my area now. It's great being able to play with my group and see everyone get better. You should definitely join a competitive scene.

What's the most important thing when playing Sheik?

From my experience it's analyzing my opponents game-play, and then slipping in at the opportune moment and punishing them with sheik's strong combo game.

How can I improve on my movement with sheik?

Melee is entirely about movement. At all times you want to be trying to move yourself to a position where you have the advantage against your opponent. 1. Become comfortable with the game and your character 1a play melee relentlessly, learning its mechanics, practicing every movement option...

Is wave dash necessary with Sheik?

Yes it is worth it. Ultimately if you want to reach full potential with any character wave dashing must be integrated. For Sheik, it can lead to better punishes, improved mobility and spacing, mind games, etc.
