I think it's very unlikely. In my opinion, the echos are purposefully chosen not only because they could work with another character's moveset, but because they have a reason to fight like their original. It would go against their very design to "de-echo" them. And it'd look weird considering...

As a non-echo, his character would be based on his class, his animations, and maybe some key abilities of his. In the games, he's either a general, or his own class based on generals. (So you can consider him of the general class the same way Ike is of the mercenary class). His animations are...

A red armored knight doesn't mean it's Zelgius on the throne ; that particular color is way too generic, it could (and will) be indentified as any enemy knight unit in a Fire Emblem game. The Black Knight is way more iconic and would make a lot more sense to keep around.

I think the interesting part of the CEO leak is that it brought back the possibility of representatives for gen 3 and 5 which have been slept on until recently. Even if tomorow, that leak is proven fake for some reason, we'd still need to consider gen 3 and 5 pokémons as potential newcomers...

I'd like to add that hybrid echo is still quite a bold speculation. Chrom right now is the only example, he only has one move from Ike, which is the signature move they share. Chrom doesn't have Aether to accomodate problems in him echoing Roy, or to make him feel less of a clone, but rather...
