I play guitar in a progressive metal band called Echoes of Creation. After band practices me and my band mates would always relax with some Brawl, usually FFAs with all kinds of crazy items on.
Eventually we learned about Project M and then we learned about the competitive Smash community. I personally watched the Smash Documentary and watched dozens of matches between the top players on Youtube fascinated by the movement and overall amazing skill they had at the game.
My band mates and I started to look for a Smash community near us and we found some, but not in the same city and they never seemed to fit with our schedules (having band practice on Fridays really puts a damper on that haha), but since some of my band mates actually has experience in playing at and running tournaments we decided we should start a Smash community of our own.
Lo and behold we now have a pretty decent size of Smashers in our community now and we grow every time we host another event. We even are starting to plan crew battles against other communities close to us.
