Midwest Smash WiiU at Glass City Con (7/16, Toledo, OH)

Smash Bros. for WiiU will return as a featured tournament at Glass City Con for 2016! Glass City Con is an anime convention held annually in Toledo, Ohio, at the Seagate Convention Centre. The Smash Bros. double-elimination tournament will be held Saturday, July 16 at the staging area in...

Midwest [Dec. 12, 2015] Smash it Up #1: Smash 4 Tournament (Toledo, Oh)

I'm not involved in the organization and I've only heard talk, but, at this point, it doesn't seem like it would be more than biweekly. The next suggested date thrown out was Jan. 30, but nothing has been finalized. I would try to join the NW Ohio Smash 4 group on Facebook to keep up to date...

Heading out now! I'll bring a few things with me that should hopefully help out.

Still taking a look to see if I can make it. If I can, I most certainly will!

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

No problems at all. I understand our events aren't the typical weeklies and such found on the site. Thanks to everyone who attended! We had 55 people enter Saturday's tournament, and, for TAG Fest as a whole, our attendance for our second event doubled over last year. I would also ask that our...

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

Yes, that would be the venue fee. Reason being is it is a sort of small-scale anime/gaming convention and not solely a Smash Bros. tournament. The event as a whole is two floors of content and the gaming is just a piece of that. The venue fee allows us to pay back the Seagate Centre for renting...

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

I'll be finalizing our setup at that time, actually. The event proper doesn't begin until 11 a.m., so don't come too early, but I think they'll allow people to float around a prior to that. The hallways of the convention center are public space, so no one can kick you out of the building or...

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

We started all of this up because very few people offered it and we wanted to start a community. By all means, talk to us at the event and I'll make sure you get the chance to spread the word!

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

The main Facebook page is for our big annual event, but it can be found at https://www.facebook.com/glasscitycon/ The specific event page for this year's TAG Fest is https://www.facebook.com/events/475776059262493/ And, finally, we have an open discussion Facebook page for our events at...

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

Sure thing! Smash is by far our most popular tournament, and we've already had multiple people comment on our Facebook and offer to bring extra set ups. For Glass City Con in August, we had 64 people enter Smash 4, and, if I remember correctly, our previous TAG Fest in January had 18 entrants...

Midwest Smash 4 at TAG Fest 2.0 (Toledo, Ohio)

TAG (Toledo Anime and Gaming) Fest will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, and we will close out our "season two" of gaming competitions at the event. Smash Bros. for Wii U 1v1 will be held starting at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Seagate Convention Centre. The event itself has a $5 venue fee...

Midwest [Aug 29, 2015] Smash (Wii U) 1v1 tournament at Glass City Con 2015 (Toledo, Ohio)

That's actually the goal, Syco. The next scheduled event we are running at the Seagate Centre will take place Saturday, Dec. 5. I'll have a post and more information in the next week or so.

Midwest [Aug 29, 2015] Smash (Wii U) 1v1 tournament at Glass City Con 2015 (Toledo, Ohio)

Smash is fairly healthy in this area due to regular club events at The University of Toledo. Outside of that, we're making efforts to boost the community. Thanks to everyone who joined us! We filled a 64-player bracket, had a quick "money match" and saw fantastic play! Our next cash prize...
