HugS said:
I'm not particularly sure how many of you watched it or heard about it, but it happened on the first day of FC, near the afternoon. I doubt anyone that had seen the match to start off had any idea who I was, (Enix) and how important the match was to us (Me and Hugs). Basically the match was for Hugs' name, If I won I got to have the name Hugs and I got to have his Smashboards account and if he won then he got to have 100/200 dollars (It depended on who you asked, it was complicated). Anyhow, this match had been talked up by Medafighter and the appropriate trash talking had occured, which for the record, I had little to no involvement in. To be honest, I never really cared to do the match, but at one point I had mentioned that I wanted the name Hugs to Medafighter some time after meeting the Kansas Crew and he had set it up so that I would get it. He had more faith in me then I ever really did, but their's still more to the match.

About a month after the match was set up to occur at FC3 I started thinking about how I probably didn't want to risk 200 dollars just to get someones name/smashboards account and how I would have to tell medafighter this, but before I got the oppurtunity to tell him this I saw a girl named Michelle sign on AIM. This changed everything. Now I don't know how many of you have ever met this girl, but shes the cutest thing that your eyes could ever have the pleasure of resting upon. She goes by YukiTanuki and had gone to MOAST 3 and to MLG Houston, I think she went to one other big tournament, but I wasn't there so I don't recall what it was. She hangs out with the goofiest and most random person that you'd ever meet, he goes by Artic.

So yeah,... I went to start a conversation with her, but it wasn't going well, nope, not at all. So before it could really go down hill and into the netherworld, I decided I would tell her about my match with Hugs... hey! it could hopefully spark something, right? Well, by the time that I finished the conversation I knew for certain that I would have to not only play this match with Hugs, but I would have to win it. For those of you that watched the matched, you might have noted that my character's name did not say Enix on it, or even Hugs, it said Yuki. YAY YUKI <3 ! P.S. during the conversation I was a huge dork and asked to use her name.

So now I had 200 dollars on the line and a girl that I was trying to impress. Well, their was one more thing. On monday the 4th, a little under 2 weeks before the tournament I went to work hope-ing to raise funds for FC, but about 15 minutes after clocking in I managed to spill scalding water on to my right hand which I argue was not my fault, but later discovered had become a 2nd degree burn. So no Smash practice for me for about a week. This is where the 100/200 dollar debat began. It was because Meda asked Hugs to reduce oui end of the deal because of the fact that we weren't sure if I could play fine by the time FC came by, which I argue is a fair request.

Adding it all up it didn't particularly seem like I was going to be very successfull:
100/200 Dollars on the line + Doing it for the cutest girl that has ever existed + Recovering Burned right hand + playing against a well known player = Failure

However, on the drive up to FC3 from Arizona, my crew stopped at New Mexico where we got to hang out with Michelle and Artic, got some matches in and generally made fun of me for being so in love with the girl, *tear*. While there I returned some cute panda bear that I had borrowed to remind me of her and she ended up giving me her name tag from MOAST 3 (which I forgot to return, *sorrys*), and she also lent me her own controller with a nifty hairband around it. I really wanted her and Jason (Artic) to come, but michelle had work, and Jason was broke. *extra tear*. After New Mexico our next stop was Lawrence Kansas where we got to hang out with the Kansas Crew which considering the fact that they live in Kansas and us in Arizona we end up seeing them all the god **** time, but <3 Kansas. Your all cool!

So anyway, by the time we got to FC, my hand could function just fine for Smash, I got to miss some practice before we left Arizona, but other then that, I was feeling pretty good.I didn't really think I could beat Hugs, but well, as you can see, I must have. After taking a quick shower, I got some practice matches in and realized that I probably wasn't going to be playing Hugs anytime soon, I was playing like ****. After telling Meda this he had me practice on Hiyato's Samus (I think that was his name) and even though I wasn't doing incredibly well, I was doing well enough to give me the desire to just play Hugs, win or lose. Now many people considered the fact that I was from Arizona and figured I wouldn't pay, for those of you that have met me, you know I'm a pretty nice guy, so I really was going to pay up if I lost, so in my mind, I just wanted to get the match over with. I wasn't going to play dumb or pretend like I didn't know about it, I told Michelle I was going to play under her name and I was planning on doing just that whether I'd end up winning or losing. Another thing I got help from was the fact that slightly before the match with Hugs I called Michelle so she could wish me good luck, but she ended up just text messaging me good luck because she happened to be in a class, but with that I was ready to go. I pulled out Michelle's controller, I put on her name tag from MOAST 3, and put in her name and our match began with Pokemon Stadium and all of the normal rules for a tournament match. The only exception was that he had to play Samus for the whole set and I had to play Marth for the whole set. I won that match , but Hugs did miss a grapple, I blame that on Michelle and the good luck she gave me, Duh, Hearts!. Hugs then counter picked me with Dreamland which he won, at this point more people gathered around and Ken sat and watched in the sit to the right of me, more then likely rooting for Hugs. I counter picked Hugs with Yoshi Story and won, it was a good match, but Marth has the obvious advantage in that stage.

So yeah, I say thanks to all of you that bothered to read this, because as I said before, I'm a nice guy and I knew that the name Hugs, to Hugs, means alot, more then I really imagined. So being the huge nice guy I am, I gave Hugs back his name. My friends are all complaining because I ended up putting 100 dollars on the line for basically nothing, but hey, now I can say I won/returned Hugs's name, right?
