I can confirm that the translation on Brawl Central is wrong. It doesn't mention Lucas or Onett in there.

First half is (probably poor translation): Earthbound's main character Ness participated in the Smash Bros. series. In the first Smash Bros., he appeared as a hidden character. (goes back to translating)
