I'd say try to stay away from using dash attack as it is insanely unsafe on shield. You can be grabbed or just up-b'd out of shield by bayo.

Have any of you tried using dash attack into jump-cancelled KO punch? Its a mixup people dont expect. Also at low percents, dash attack can connect into another dash attack if you dont have KO punch.

You explained your points well, however, smash is all about them mix-ups. Your point on countering when you are about to be hit by an aerial is a good strategy, but it could get predictable if you use it too much. You could also try just jump past them and time an air dodge so you can go through...
