The SSB4 Guide: Kirby Part 2

The SSB4 Guide: Kirby Part 2

Game Versions
Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U
The reason you are on this page is because you want to learn more about Kirby's match-ups. If you want to learn more on Kirby himself then go here. This is still very much a work in progress and any help that you can give on a match-up is more than appreciated.

Ganondorf; (XincMars says) Kirby capitalizes really well off a grab or down air, try to get those. It is essential for any Kirby to learn how to tech Flame Choke, Ganon gets almost anything he wants off it, provided the player is good enough to react.
Kirby can gimp Ganon easily, but he can do the same thing since all his aerials send Kirby very far away or down.

Ike

Jigglypuff; (MisterDom says) In the neutral, Kirby has more tools and better auto-cancels and frame data, and on paper will win the neutral. You will probably be able to pressure our shield this way with moves like dair and a follow up, and in this matchup it will be easier for you to do these things because Jigglypuff won't have many options that can punish your pressure. (Don't chose stages with platforms). Professional Jigglypuff play is about manipulating hitboxes and frame data, but because of this Jigglypuff can be vulnerable in which case you will have opportunity to punish. You MUST play patient against a good Jigglypuff and strike in the moments we are vulnerable, but you also can't take this patience for granted because tomahawking is essential for Jigglypuff and her ground game, so you can't just keep shielding all the time. You will want Jigglypuff to approach you. Though you have better mobility including aerial-wise, Jigglypuff will be superior in the air throwing and long-lasting hitboxes. You must be careful when you recover because your recovery is especially easy to edge-guard. Ledge trump bairs, which is one of Jigglypuff's best guarantees for kills, though only used by top players, can be especially easy. Making yourself safe will destroy Jigglyuff's chances in the neutral, as well as taking away some of Jigglypuff's important kill options at the ledge and offstage. Though we're both light characters, Kirby cannot escape Jigglypuff's combos. Also, Jigglypuff can easily escape combos, so I'll just make a little recommendation to try more basic ones against Jigglypuff.

Robin; (Zareidriel says) The Kirby to Robin match-up can be a little tricky for both parties. Robin has a hard time landing her projectiles, Arcfire and Arcthunder, on Kirby, since he has an easy time dodging. Kirby has a hard time landing most of his aerials on Robin due to her Levin Sword hitboxes in the air covering her pretty well. Robin is going to try to get Kirby in the air and hit him like a pinata. Since Robin struggles a little on the ground, however, that means Kirby should be looking for an opportunity to float or dodge his way past her defenses, and get in there with his ground throws and combos to do as much damage as possible. As long as the Kirby is in real close and attacking Robin on the ground he can do well.

Thanks.
As Kirby is one of my mains, I would like to give some advice

Cloud: JUST KEEP HIM AWAY FROM YOU.
if you get him offstage, keep him off, but stay out of range of his aerials. Down air is useful for gimping him.
Ike: Avoid as many attacks as possible. Don't play aggressively, and watch out for U-Smash and D-Smash. They cover a lot of area around Ike.

Diddy Kong: Look out for his combos, and respect his grab range. Try to get him offstage without his jumps available. If you do, then you can get an easy gimp with down air. Make sure to continually follow up the gimp w/ multiple Dairs, but make sure you have enough jumps to get back onstage.

I might give some more advice later, but for now, yeah.
