Just got DUCK HUNTED

Just got DUCK HUNTED

Game Versions
Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U
Duck is a really (un)-popular character. So these tips will assure that no on will mess with you. If you have something to say or if I made a mistake, please make a review or message me. This is my first guide and I am not some professional so don't judge if this guide isn't kosher. Read on :).

Offense or Defense?
Duck Hunt can be really complicated. What you want to do is slow your opponent, then go in for the kill. So being on defense will be good at early game. Remember, Duck has lots of ranged components, so you should get used to them in training. Using these will do a good amount of damage and slow them down. You should know that Duck Hunt is light and can be killed easily, so it's good to stay in defense most of the time until you can get a good launch.

STOP LAUGHING AT ME!!
In a battle you should start out by using your ranged cans and clay pigeons. Use them as zoning materials. After your opponent has taken enough damage, you should try to grab them or just do jabs, tilts, and smashes. The back throw does the most, but if you do a down throw, you can rack up a nice combo. (Also, when your opponent is killed, be sure to do a side taunt XD). When your opponent is in the air, or coming at you in the air, Duck's nair works really well. A good tip is to be above your opponent, do your nair, then tap down to go down fast. You will come slamming down on your opponent. Also his back air and forward air will kill really easily once your opponent has taken enough damage.

Explosive Dog Food
Your explosive can thingy is really useful. You can shoot it 9 times then it will explode. If you shoot it and hits a player, it will explode on impact. This can also hurt Dog. Since it has an arc motion you can get by shooting it a lot, it is great for hitting enemies in the air. If you launch an opponent off screen but they start coming back to center, get at the ledge and send out the can and snipe them in the air. Also, you can throw an enemy into the can (this will take practice). Keep in mind that you can only influence the can if you're standing still, using up B, while grabbing an enemy, on the edge, stalling in the air, or while having your shield up. You can practice running then doing a quick stop to shoot the can but it is pretty hard. When using it, it will only go the way you throw it. BUT, if you or your opponent hit it another way, it will go that way. You and your opponent can hit it to launch at each other. But you and your opponent cannot hit it while the can is airborne. You can also send it out in the air. Then it will come down unless you influence it more. What I like to do is keep the can at the edge of the stage then grab the edge and do a ledge attack. This will launch it pretty far. A great thing about the can is that it can stop a lot of human projectiles. Such as Ness and Lucas's PK Thunder human projectile, Sonic's spin, Wario's motorcycle, Bowser Junior's cart, Jigglypuff's roll, and Yoshi's egg roll. Keep in mind that this takes lots of practice. You cannot destroy the can.

Wild Gunman
The gunmen are your down B. They will spawn and then shoot. The different types of gunmen all do different amounts of damage, but the farthest one of the hunters can shoot is about half of Final Destination, but it's pretty hard to tell since you can't see the bullet. They only shoot once and can be destroyed. Also while they're out, they can shoot your dog food and frisbee for you. While spawning them in the air they slowly fall, but stop in mid-air and shoot. Mainly I use them for cover against people like Wario, Sonic, and Bowser Jr., but you should experiment with them, they're pretty cool! Using them for cover is tricky since they are weak. But if you're opponent gets fooled by one of these Wild Gunsmen, you can make a quick getaway. Like the frisbee, gunmen are good after a back or forward throw, or be used to gimp and slow down your opponents.

Frisbee Tactics
There are lots of things you can do with the frisbee. When you throw it out it can hit an enemy and do damage, and/or you can shoot it and it will do damage. Usually I use it when I'm trying to gimp or just keep opponents at the edge. The frisbee is also very helpful after a back or forward through. To throw this clay pigeon is your side B. After the frisbee goes far enough, it will fall to the ground and stay there for about 4 seconds. You can shoot it while it's on the ground as well. Enemies can destroy it with just one hit.

Any other attacks I didn't explain.
Duck's standard attack is of course close range. But his smash attacks consists of bullets firing and covers lots of area. They are great for launching foes and if you're lucky, you can use it to make opponents not recover. I also like jumping over my enemy then using my bair before I hit the ground. This can launch them pretty far! His up standard is kinda hard to use well. It is really close ranged and is hard to aim, but it can kill. Duck Hunt's spike is really good. It consist of two hits. If you use it while your enemies damage is high, it can launch them straight down. But keep in mind that it's one of the slower spikes and is a little hard to aim.

Last But Not, actually it is the least.
Now I talk about his up B. Let me tell you, it is TERRIBLE. You cannot influence it at all, it doesn't do any damage, and it doesn't go that high up. So you shouldn't take much risks as Duck Hunt. A good way of getting high into the air, is to use Duck Hunt's double jump. I know that all characters have double jumps, but Duck Hunt's goes pretty high. The only thing you can do while flying while using up B is go left or right. But it does make a pretty cool noise though!

I'm sorry to rate this so low, but there isn't a great deal of detail in this guide. Most of the "tips" given here are common knowledge among those who have played/played against Duck Hunt Duo in a casual setting and the rest is quite vague. I assume most, if not all people know that Duck Hunts Up-B doesn't have a hitbox.

For the can, you don't have to be standing still to shoot it. You can still move around. You just have to practice travelling and activating it at the same time. It's perfectly doable. It just takes a bit of timing and practice.

As somebody else said, the gunmen have different ranges when firing. Black Hat Mcgee has the farthest range, Squat Sombrero Sam has the shortest. You are correct in sayin' that the furthest range is halfway across the stage.

All in all though, I don't think this guide is indepth enough to warrant its existence. At the moment, this is just a summary of Duck Hunt as a character.
