FULL EVENT DESCRIPTION FROM FACEBOOK
ST@T7 is a Smash 4 and Brawl Minus event with a cash-payout bracket for Smash 4. Space is limited, so I can only allow 24 entrants. Smash 4 bracket fee is $5. All entry fees will be used to make the cash pot which will be dispersed to the top 4 players. There is also a house fee of $5 to cover the cost of food; there will be hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, and sodas.
Friendles will begin at noon, Brawl Minus bracket will begin at 2pm, and Smash 4 bracket will begin at 5pm. If you're not here by 5pm, you're not getting in. NO FRIENDLIES are to played during either bracket.
Minus bracket will be free to play in. The game's scene is young and I just want everyone to have chance to try out the game. Its extremely fun and I PROMISE you'll have a good time if you pick it up. Once Minus bracket ends, friendlies may resume until 5pm when Smash 4 bracket starts. Once that happens, all Minus setups will be taken down to make room for Smash 4 setups.
To guarantee registration and help with busters, players spots will not be secured until the week of the tourney. I will make an announcement for all that are going to PM me to lock in their registration. If you don't PM me after that announcement, your spot will not be held. I've had to take this measure because last ST@T was "full" and I had to turn away a lot of folks because of that...then the day of, I had people buster which resulted in a bracket with empty spots tha could have been filled by other players had they known the spots would be there. Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but its a measure I'm taking to ensure the best ST@T experience for those that attend. Hope ya'll understand.
Slight change to the ruleset. Some will love it, some will hate it. As much as I LOVE the hype matches we've seen on UCT, I've got to ban it. The primary reasons: some transitions allow for KO's around 40% or 50% off the top; others have platforms come save players that have been sufficiently edge guarderd or otherwise would have been knocked away past recovery. I don't like banning it, but I really believe its the right thing to do. I'd hate to see someone lose money because of jank.
Rules are as follows
*General Rules
-Stock and Time are set to 2 stock and 6 minutes respectively.
-Regular sets are best of 3 matches. Top 8 sets will be best of 5.
-Pause function will turned off in the settings. If this is forgotten and a pause occurs during a match, contact a TO and he will decide the outcome; which will most likely be a forfieted stock.
-The Tournament Host is the arbiter of all disputes.
-Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock.
-In the event of a percentage tie, play a 3 minute 1 stock match. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.
-If both characters are on their final stock, and one does a move that kills both at the same time (Ganoncide, Bowsercide, Kirbycide, etc.) the initiator of the move is the victor regardless of post-match results displayed by the game.
