Hey there Mobile Smashers! I’m here to announce the first ever Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament here in the area. I am so excited to see everyone come out and enjoy some Smash Bros and see who becomes the best at this new game. It’s going to be such a great time to be playing Ultimate, but I’m sure you all just want to get down to the details.
Venue - Kurabi Bubble Tea (3821 Airport Blvd Ste. A, Mobile, AL 36608)
Schedule:
Entry Fee - $5 and it all goes into the pot!
Payout - Top placers get a portion of the prize pool. Here's a breakdown of how it would work with different amounts of people.
Tournament rules - We will be following the Xanadu ruleset for Smash Bros Ultimate. It can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18uTTte3eGEvxp4lFlzkcbpZa7S6e5UhB1MBZeZm4QdU/edit?usp=drivesdk
If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to ask. I am happy to answer.
Controllers - This is a BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER event. That means that you are responsible for having a controller to play with. If you do not have a compatible controller, please contact the Tournament Organizer and try to make arrangements before coming to the Tournament. All wireless controllers must be approved by a Tournament Organizer before tournament use, and third party controllers must be approved as well. GameCube controllers are generally the best bet.
Setups - If you have all the characters unlocked, please bring your Switch! And if you can, bring a TV too. If we don't have setups to play on, the tournament will take a lot longer to run. Again, if you plan on bringing your console, please make sure all characters are unlocked. If they are not, we will not be able to use it for tournament play.
Stream - This will be a streamed tournament on twitch.tv/southernrenegades. ONLY APPROVED PERSONS ARE ALLOWED ON COMMENTARY. If you would like to be on the Mic, speak to a Tournament Organizer and see if that is an option. If you are uncomfortable playing on stream, let the T.O. know so adjustments can be made. It will not be guaranteed that you can play off stream. If it is far enough in bracket, it may be required.
Player Conduct Policy - Be respectful of other players and yourself. Violent behavior will absolutely not be tolerated. Physical attacks, verbal threats, and destruction of property will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the venue. Incidents of thrown controllers may also result in bans. Repeated bad behavior such a poor sportsmanship, taunting, violence, etc. will also result in a ban on future tournaments.
Food - Outside food is permitted, but you are encouraged to try drinks at the venue. Kurabi Bubble Tea is generous enough to let us use their venue for tournaments, so let's support the awesome place! There are plenty of food options within walking distance like a Thai restaurant and a Panda Express. There's also a Taco Bell, IHOP, Burger King, and plenty of other places a short drive away.
If you have any questions about the event, contact me on Facebook or by email smcinnerney@gmail.com with the subject: Nightmare in Mobile. I look forward to seeing you at the tournament!
