Hi, Smashboards. I represent Crown Productions Gaming (CPG for short) in Melbourne, FL. We host regular Smash Bros events every other Saturday and Friday, with Mel Hype on Saturdays and Brevard County Melee on Fridays. We normally host these on Facebook, so we'd appreciate if you'd RSVP on there, as well. Updates will be posted there more often than on here. Check out our other events here.

Full Rulesets

Wireless controllers are allowed, but you must be sure to desync your controller from the consoles when you’re not playing. If your controller causes a holdup, you will be disqualified. We recommend removing the batteries when not in use. If you have a Wii U Pro Controller, you can remove the rechargeable battery and use the included mini-USB cable for power. Just plug it into the Wii U, sync, and you’re good to go. When you leave, the controller will stop receiving power and will be unable to get you in trouble.

Hi. I might be attending this event (I'm pretty young, 13), and when you say "wireless controller", is the 3DS included? As I don't have a Wii U, I don't have practice with the Pro controller. What do you mean by holdup? Do you mean a long time to connect or a long time to disconnect?

He probably means holding up matches by still having your wireless controller connected to the console even though your match is finished.

Just be sure to shut off/unplug/take battery out of your controller when your not playing.

Ah, sorry I couldn't reply sooner. Yes, Zach is correct. 3DS systems are included in the wireless category. I use a Pro Controller myself. All you gotta do is make sure you disconnect when you're done, and make sure the controller doesn't reconnect when you're not looking. Wii Remotes and Pro Controllers don't actually desync when you press the sync button. They just try to find another console. They're still paired with the original, so pressing any button will make them reconnect. If you can take the batteries out, it's usually the safest bet.

I'm going to be putting up the event on here for next time shortly (Facebook link). We're going to be running it as if it were the Mel Hype season finale, so we're trying to get more people than usual. This week, we had 40ish people total. We're pushing for more for 1.8. Hope to see you there!
