We're trying to grow the local scene and will be running our first serious tournament! Come on out and help us turn this into a regular event! Sadly, we will be running only a singles tournament, but hopefully will grow into a venue that will host doubles as well!
Copy-paste of the ruleset we will be using.
There will be a entree fee for $10.
Prizes will be based on the number of players that will sign up for the fight, so invite your friends!
RULES
2-3 stock (Depending on amount of signups)
8 minutes.*
Items are turned to off and none.
Pause is disabled.**
Stalling is banned. Stalling is intentionally making the game unplayable; examples include becoming invisible, continuing infinites, chain grabs, or uninterruptible moves past 300%, and reaching a position that cannot be reached by the opponent.
Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. Players are responsible for being aware of these possibilities.
If time runs out, the winner is determined by remaining stock, and then by ending damage percentage.
If both stock and percentage are identical, or a game ends with both players being KO'd simultaneously, then a tiebreaker is played. A tiebreaker is a 1 stock, 3 minute match with the same characters and the same stage.
1v1 matches will be played in a bracketed system (loser's bracket, winner's bracket). Each matchup consists of a set. A set is made up of three rounds, with the grand finals consisting of five rounds. A majority win decides the set e.g two wins in a three round set or three wins in a five round set.
A pick/counterpick system will be in place throughout the tournament. The system works as follows:
Players will play rock-paper-scissors.
The winner will first pick his or her character. Then the loser will pick his or her character.
Each player will have two strikes. The losing player will strike a neutral stage (see NEUTRAL/COUNTERPICK STAGES). The winner will then strike a neutral stage. This process repeats until both players are out of strikes.
The first round will then be played on this stage.
The winner may then decide to change his character. Afterwards, the loser may decide to change his character. The loser may then decide which stage to play on.
This process will repeat, with no stage being playing on again for at least one round.
The Gentlemen's Rule (playing on a stage if both players mutually agree) trumps the strike system, and stages regardless of legality may be played provided that the stage is not a custom stage.
Coaches are allowed in between games, but must not communicate with players during a match. Any form of harassment of players, unsuitable distractions, and match fixing will result in disqualification from the tournament and possible removal.
All compatible controllers are allowed, provided that such controllers do not provide any unfair advantage.
Mii Fighters are banned until we can develop standardized, preloaded movesets.
Custom movesets are banned until further notice.
All DLC characters will be available for play.
Stages:
Neutral:
Final Destination
Battlefield
Town and City
Smashville
Dreamland 64
Counterpick/Legal Stages:
Onett
Lylat Cruise
Duck Hunt
