I'll go for my favorite games relating to each character.
:4mario:Super Mario World- My favorite 2D Mario.
:4luigi:Luigi's Mansion, my favorite GameCube title.
:4peach:Super Mario 3D World, the only main series Mario game that I can play as Peach (that isn't SMBUSA).
:rosalina:3D World because I haven't touched the Galaxy games!
:4bowser:Uh, Super Mario Bros.
Bowser Jr: Sunshine, my favorite 3D Mario and Jr.'s debut.
Dr. Mario: N/A
:4dk:Donkey Kong Country.
:4diddy:Donkey Kong Country 2.
:4yoshi:Super Mario World Yoshi's Island.
:warioc:Super Mario 64 DS.
:4link:Majora's Mask, technically Young Link, but it's my favorite Zelda title.
:4zelda:A Link to the Past.
:4sheik:Ocarina of Time, the only one she appeared in (besides Hyrule Warriors).
:ganondorf:Twilight Princess.
:4tlink: Wind Waker.
:4samus:Super Metroid.
:4zss:N/A
:4pit:Kid Icarus, the original.
:4palutena:Uprising, dat personality.
Dark Pit: Uprising, really Sakurai?
:4kirby:Well this is a hard choice.
:4metaknight:This one's even harder.
:4dedede:Can I just say "every Kirby game?"
:4fox:N/A
:falco:N/A
:4marth:Err, does Awakening count?
:4myfriends:N/A
:4robinf:Awakening.
:4lucina:Also Awakening, how cheap.
:4pikachu:Hey You, Pikachu :troll:
:4charizard:Porkyman Red.
:jigglypuff:Pokeman Redder.

:4wiifit:...
:4littlemac:N/A
:gw:All the Game & Watches!

:4megaman:Mega Man 2 I guess.
:4sonic:Another tough decision. Sonic 3K? I'll just say Generations.
:4mii:Smesh.

I have yet to play at least one game from each franchise. I don't think I'll ever reach that goal...:4wiifit:

For all those lost vets:
:roymelee:You didn't even have a game yet mate.
:pichumelee:No.
:mewtwomelee:Pokemon Snap. Wait you weren't in that one.

8-bit Megamans. Finest tree of sequels I've ever played. Also why the 7 hate? I could completely understand why you wouldn't like Megaman 8 but the only reason I hear 7 hate is for the large sprite. Is there anything else? Also don't answer that because this is a smash forum.

:4yoshi: - Yoshi's Island
:4samus: - Prime 3: Corruption
:4fox: - StarFox 64
:4marth: - Only played Sacred Stones and didn't really like it, tbh.
:4falcon: - F-Zero GX
:4littlemac: - Punch-Out!! Wii
:4olimar: - I've only played the original, but I'm definitely getting Pikmin 3 when I get a Wii U.

Mario: Super Mario Sunshine/Paper Mario/Paper Mario: TTYD
Zelda: Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess
Yoshi
: I do not regard Yoshi as having his own series.
Pokémon: Crystal has always been my favorite, but I really like G5 (B/W/B2/W2), as well.
Kirby: Kirby 64
Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I narrowed it down to series that I follow.

Mario: Tough call; too many masterpieces in this series... I'll narrow it down to SMB3 and Super Mario 64. Sorry if those are painfully obvious candidates, but they earned it!
Zelda: Twilight Princess for the 3D games, and the original for 2D.
Metroid: Super Metroid; honorable mention to Metroid Prime for the leap to 3D gameplay.
Kirby: Kirby's Adventure nailed it. Kirby Super Star was great for the diversity of Kirby's powers giving him a ton of new moves.
Star Fox: 64 of course!
Pokémon: Gold & Silver polished the good foundation set before. Black & White (and its sequels) had excellent presentation in terms of character and monster designs. X & Y removes a lot of the hassle of stat-training and team building. I can't decide!
Punch-Out!!: The NES version will always be the definitive one to me.

I'll just give my comments on the Big 3, as those tend to be the most interesting. I like to think myself incredibly objective on manners like these - I always keep my nostalgic feelings in check..

:4mario:Mario Bros:
Galaxy. Easily the best blend of creativity, storytelling, and controls. Galaxy 2 is great too, but its focus was more on just straight up fun.

:4link:Legend of Zelda:
Wind Waker. Timeless graphics with surprisingly mature themes. It pulled off the "open world" feeling quite well and had a great integration of item use.
Majora's Mask gets special mention, but it's too unique to be properly judged with the rest.

:4pikachu:Pokemon: Black & White. It's the best standalone game of the series. It told a surprisingly engaging story and refined the Pokemon formula quite well.
Note: Odd generations tend to be standalone whereas Even generations tend to focus on fanservice (the wholesome kind :D). X/Y would obviously get the award for best Pokemon game in terms of ingame features and whatnot.

OK let's play.Animal Crossing: I despise this franchise and I think it's the worst succesful Nintendo franchise.

:4mario:: Super Mario Galaxy.
:4tlink:: The Wind Waker (Kicks OOT's ass!).
:4pikachu:: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, and for main series, Platinum, best Pokemon game, hands down, no comparison.
:4dk:: Tropical Freeze, near-perfect platforming heaven.
:4olimar:: Pikmin 3, one of the most engaging games I've ever played, shows how a subtle Gamepad mechanic can make the game that much better, the atmosphere's king, the music's amazing and the graphics are breathtaking. I literally can't wait for Pikmin 4.
:4marth:: Torn between Path Of Radiance and Awakening, but I'm gonna have to say that Awakening IS the best FE game.
:4kirby:: Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, the first Nintendo game I ever owned, has a special place in my heart.
:4pit:: Kid Icarus Uprising obviously! One of the best games of the generation.
:4mii:: I'm between Wii Sports Resort and Streetpass Mii Plaza, can't decide.
:4samus:: A tie between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the Metroid series always has near-perfect games, so it's honestly a matter of pure personal preference whenever it comes to Metroid. And YES, I do like Hunters, it's actually fun when you get around to playing it rather than whining about how 'your hand hurts' or 'this isn't Metroid, hurrhurrlinearbecausefusionwasn'tlinearatallhurrhurr'.
:4villager:: New Leaf by a landslide, it takes everything that makes the series good and amplifies it X10!
:4sonic:: For the best Classic Sonic game, I'd say Sonic CD...for the best Modern Sonic game, I'd probably say Sonic Unleashed, but the best Sonic game of all time would be Sonic Generations, I think it's Sonic's Super Mario Galaxy, the magnum opus.
:4pacman:: Pac-Man World 2, Dem' Playstation 1 memories.
:4megaman:: Megaman 2, nothing quite as good as this little gem.
:4falcon:: F-Zero X, the feeling of speed on that game is breathtaking.
:4yoshi:: Yoshi's Island.
:4wiifit:: Wii Fit Plus.
:gw:: Firemen.
:snake:: Metal Gear Solid,
the PS1 original.
:wario:: Between WarioWare: Touched! and WarioWare: Smooth Moves...but I'll say that touched was the better game.

Never really played:4shulk::4littlemac::4fox::popo::ness2::rob:...although I'm planning on eventually playing Punch-Out! on Wii and I'm excited about StarFox Wii U and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, especially because of Shulk's trailer.

Some hard choices will be made here.
Shows my age singe I have played most of these games. And I'm not even 30 yet. Bot very soon I will be.
Stealing your format.

Super Mario: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) or Super Mario World (SNES)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Donkey Kong: DK64 (N64). I know a lot of people don't like it, but I've got a soft spot for collectathons.
Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA) or Super (SNES).
F-Zero: GX (GCN) or X (N64). All of them are great. The SNES original has my favorite soundtrack of all time.
StarFox: Star Fox 64 (N64)
Punch-Out!: Punch-Out!! (Wii -- the original's great, but it's nothing but nostalgia to say it's better than the new one, IMO)
Yoshi: SMW2: Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Wario: Wario Land 2 (GB)
Pokémon: SoulSilver (DS)
Kirby: Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS)
Kid Icarus: Kid Icarus (NES), although I'd probably like Uprising more if I'd played it.
Pikmin: Pikmin 2 (GCN)
Sonic: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (GEN)
Pac-Man: Ms. Pac-Man (ARC)
Mega Man: MM2 (NES) or MM9 (WiiWare/XBLA/PSN)
Fire Emblem: Haven't played enough of the series to say with confidence. Need to actually beat one of them.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
Xenoblade: N/A, haven't played Chronicles.
Wii Fit: Wii Fit (Wii), I guess. Haven't tried the Wii U version.
Earthbound: Earthbound (SNES)
Ice Climbers: Ice Climbers (NES), not that there was an alternative.
Duck Hunt: Duck Hunt (NES)
R.O.B.: I'd say F-Zero GX, but that's cheating. Other than that, I haven't played the compatible NES games.
Metal Gear: If I have to go with something Solid Snake himself appeared in, it'd be Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (PS2). Otherwise, I'd go with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2).
G&W: Parachute. It was my first Game & Watch, and I loved it.

Super Mario: Tie between Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario TYD
Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong Country on SNES
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Metroid: Super Metroid
Kirby: Amazing Mirror
Star Fox: 64, I guess. I suck at rail shooters.
Pokémon: HG/SS, though I love most of the games.
F-Zero: The Gamecube one
Mother: EarthBound, maybe.
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Wario: Game & Wario, I guess.
Punch-Out: Wii
Metal Gear: Don't hit me, I've never played an MGS game. But I watched my brother in law "play" MGS4 and was rather impressed with the suit-camo-change mechanic
Sonic: Adventure 2
Mega Man: Mega Man 2, though I really suck at Mega Man.
Pac-Man: The one I enjoyed the most was (I think) called Adventures 2? Something like that. The one where Pinky was in love with Pac-Man, I guess. I don't really love the franchise though.

:4dk: Donkey Kong Country
:4pikachu: Pokemon HeartGold / probably Omega Ruby
:4samus: Super Metroid / Metroid Prime
:4yoshi: Yoshi's Story (only one I've player, but getting New Island soon :D )

I'll list top two or three of each series

Super Mario: SMW2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Hoops: 3-on-3 (others to note that come close are the Paper Mario series, Mario Kart series, Mario and Luigi and Mario Tennis)

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Windwaker, Minish Cap

Pokemon: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (including the remakes), Pokemon Black/White(2), Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team/Blue Rescue Team

MOTHER: Earthbound, MOTHER 3

Kid Icarus: (3D Classics)Kid Icarus, Kid Icarus Uprising

Metroid: Metroid Prime 3, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime

Kirby: Kirby's Dreamland 3, Kirby Super Star (Ultra), Kirby's Air Ride (hardest choices since I enjoy ALL Kirby games!)

Fire Emblem: Fire Emblem GBA 2003, Fire Emblem Awakening

Pikmin: In this order from favorite- 3, 2, 1

Xenoblade Chronicles (Looking forward to Xenoblade X!)

Animal Crossing: ACGC, New Leaf, Wild World

Sonic: Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Advance

Pac-Man: Original Pac-Man, Pac-Man Adventures 2 (SNES), Pac-Man World 2

Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Diddy Kong Racing

Game&Watch: Game&Watch Gallery 3, Helmet, Cement Factory

There are tons of others but there are most of my highlights.

Welp, since I attacked my favorite frachises' missteps before, here are my favorites:

Mario - Too many to count. SMB3, SMW, SM64, SMB Deluxe, Paper Mario, Superstar Saga, and TTYD come to mind.
Kirby - Amazing Mirror, Canvas Curse, and Air Ride. Of the classic platformer style, 64 and Dream Land 3.
DK - Donkey Kong Country 1, though admittedly I haven't played much else.
Pokémon - Either Fire Red, Heart Gold, or White 2. Alpha Sapphire's looking like it could steal that honor, though.
MOTHER - I liked MOTHER 1 ever so slightly more than EarthBound, and I haven't finished MOTHER 3 yet.
Pac-Man - Super Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man Arrangement and Championship Edition DX+ are all great in their own right (though Metro-Cross, Dig Dug and Galaga beat 'em all, easily).

Super Mario: Gotta go with 64
Zelda: A Link to the Past by far.
Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong 64
StarFox: Star Fox 64
Punch-Out!: Mike Tyson's Punchout NES
Yoshi: Yoshi's Island, would also be my favorite Mario series game if Yoshi wasn't his own thing.
Wario: Wario World GCN
Pokémon: Gen 2 games
Kirby: Kirby 64
Pikmin: Hard to pick between 1 and 3 for me
Sonic: Sonic Adventure DX minus Big and Amy
Pac-Man: Ms. Pac-Man
Mega Man: Mega Man Legends (Yeah, I know I'm the only one in the world.)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Awakening was just meh for me, and Path of Radiance loses by the smallest amount.
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Xenoblade: Chronicles, obviously. Really need to get more time in on that

:4mario:: Super Mario 3D World- For the sake of myself so that I don't have to choose between this and Paper Mario, I'm including Paper Mario as a separate section. The Super Mario Galaxy games were just as amazing as this, but I choose 3D world because of the multiplayer. Super Mario 3D world has it all- Tight gameplay, super fun, amazing music, superb graphics, and great multiplayer. I can't find a single complaint about the game.
Paper Mario: All 3 of the first games- Ok look, I know putting three games is a huge stretch, but I really do love all of them equally. The original is probably for nostalgia reasons but I still think its an amazing game; Thousand Year Door is just flat out superb, the best of the series game play wise; and the Super Paper Mario I love for the amazing story, which I just fell in love with. I honestly couldn't pick one over the other if I tried.
:4yoshi:: Yoshi's Story- Oh God I love this game. It gets some hate, but Its still amazing and has such a happy atmosphere. Although I haven't played Yoshi's Island, which I assume people are comparing it to, so that could be better IDK.
:4dk:: Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze- Although I did love the original, this one takes the cake. Flat out fantastic music, and it was the best 2D platforming game I've played I think ever.
:4kirby:: Kirby Super Star Ultra- Just a flat out awesome game. I love this remake, and the original was great too. The Amazing Mirror and Crystal Shards tie for a very close second.
:4link:: LoZ Link Between Worlds- I was actually surprised by how much I liked this game. I've played a lot of the other ones but this LBW really felt soooooooo much better. The item renting idea was perfect. The gameplay and puzzle solving was the best we've seen in years. While the combat was lacking, the game showed that Zelda doesn't need to be all about combat, which all of the 3D games don't really realize.
:4pikachu:: Pokemon Soul Silver- This game was amazing. The idea to have pokemon follow you around was just perfect, and it surprisingly actually helped immersed you in the game. I love a lot of the pokemon in gen 2, so I really liked Soul Silver. X and Y I loved too, but the postgame sucked so I choose SS. The only problem with Soul Silver is something that it could never really fix is that I don't like any of the starters. I don't like Feraligator or Typhlosion or Meganium, but I really liked Bayleef in the anime so I choose Chickorita.
:4villager:: Animal Crossing New Leaf- This game didn't add a lot to the gameplay of Animal Crossing, but I still really loved it. Being mayor was pretty awesome.
:4olimar:: Pikmin 3- I loved the use of all 3 captains in this game, and I loved how beautiful the graphics are. The only complaint I have is that its too easy, but that was ok for me cause I really sucked at the original Pikmin. I also had a suprisingly fun time in Mission Mode, I thought it wouldn't be fun but I actually really loved it. I'm still thinking about whether or not to get the DLC though.
:4samus:: Super Metroid- What can I say? Super Metroid is just plain awesome.
:ness2:/:lucas:: Mother 3- I loved Earthbound, but I do think that Mother 3 is better. I really liked Earthbound, but I LOVED Mother 3. I loved the story and the characters, the music was great, and I just thought that all around it was just a better game. Some people complain about it, but I love it. It's actually my favorite game of all time.
:4megaman:: Mega Man 2- I know everyone says this is their favorite, but I still think its the best too. While some of the other Mega Man games started to feel a little repetitive, only adding small differences in gameplay over 6 games, Mega Man 2 really expanded very well on the original. The music is also very awesome, as it is well known for.

:4marth:: Fire Emblem Awakening- While this is the only Fire Emblem game I have played, I still loved it enough to include it. I wasn't sure if I would like the turnbased strategy of the game, but I fell in love with it. Everything about it was just so amazing. Great game.

There's a distinct lack of Pikmin in this thread.

Ooh, something to counteract the negative thread.

:4mario:: Paper Mario 64. Bowser's actually a threat! Peach actually does something! Huge cast of engaging characters!
:4dk:: Donkey Kong Game Boy. They took the arcade game and expanded it into a full adventure, and I ****ing loved it.
:4yoshi:: Yoshi's Story. I know this one gets a lot of hate (and I understand why), but I just can't bring myself to feel the same way.
:4link:: Link's Awakening. One of my first video games, period, and it was just WEIRD.
:4kirby:: Air Ride. There's a reason Sakurai recycled a ****-ton of stuff in every subsequent project of his from here -- it was full to the brim of good ideas. The game itself was a VERY good idea.
:4fox:: I'm not sure yet. I have a love-hate relationship with the series in general.
:4pikachu:: Pearl. I just have the fondest memories of this one. The mechanics started to get more refined, the GTS was introduced, super contests, and also this sexy thing -> :4lucario:
:4samus:: Prime 1, a.k.a. my first GameCube game. I don't remember much about the story, but I played it to death just about.
:4falcon:: X. Do you know what the randomly-generated X-cup means? Infinite replay value.
:ness2:: Mother 3, just out of slight preference.
:gw:: Gallery 2. This is when the rereleases started to take shape.
:4pit:: No comment. I hate the fanbase too much to say if I like any of the games.
:warioc:: Mega Microgame$. I liked the concept, I liked the unlockable minigames, I replayed this for years.
:sonic:: Advance 1... though admittedly largely due to the Tiny Chao Garden. I was a little kid then.
:4littlemac:: NES. Wii was good, but some things just seemed kind of off.
:4villager:: New Leaf. Portable, customizable - not without its problems, but the definitive AC so far.
:4pacman:: Arrangement. Shook things up a bit, you know?
:4mii:: Tomodachi Life. They were just part of the console before, but this got me truly attached to them.

I haven't included the following because they've either only had one game or I haven't played enough to make a judgement. (With the sole exception of ROB, though, I actually have played at least one from each.)

zelda: majora's mask (have played through every zelda game)

metroid: zero mission or prime 3 (played through every metroid game)

mario: sunshine (haven't played enough galaxy 2).

pokemon: white/black. second place is r/s/e, but if you apply the better region of hoenn with the speed of w/b and the graphics and sound quality of x/y... we shall see when the remakes come out (played through every gen)

animal crossing: obviously new leaf. love the graphical style even more than its predecessors (played every AC game)

sonic: i'll probably always love the original adventure even though the glitches. colors and generation are really good but i haven't played very much of them.

donkey kong: haven't played tropical freeze, but returns is epic so i assume it's an improvement. country is wonderful, but the redux series is so creative...

kirby: crystal shards, followed by air ride. the wii game that wasn't epic yarn was decent if not still a bit shallower than its combat wanted to be.

mother: earthbound is great, but mother 3 has everything along with better pacing, better characters, and better combat. oh, also the soundtrack is even more dynamic. i do miss the 'reality' feeling of earthbound, though.

kid icarus: uprising. the original was great, but dat personality!

pikmin: 3. gorgeous, like the new pikmin, like collecting juice.

Mario: Super Mario Galaxy - If not only for the fantastic soundtrack, then for the innovative gameplay and beautiful visuals.

Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - It just feels great, I like its fast pace, and the boss battles are miles better than ever before (except the last one ironically.) Shame that there are no Kremlings though.

Zelda: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Just a superb dungeon crawler no matter what way you put it.

Pokémon: Pokémon Leaf Green - I'll admit there's a certain nostalgia tied to this one since the original games were my first addiction, so I'll gladly take a better version of that. Still, it allows me to play with some of my favorite Pokémon, and the flow of Kanto feels very natural, it has just the right amount of caves, water, and fields. It doesn't have an overblown story either, which is great.

Kirby: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Take the best things about Super Star and crank it up to 11. Even when I have 100% this game there are still some moves for certain abilities I don't know about, the game has so many things to it. It also has the best levels and bosses out of all Kirby games, so it's an easy win.

Metroid: Super Metroid - Metroid is my favorite video game franchise, but even so it'll always come down to the two most popular games imo, Super vs Prime 1. I myself prefer the sidescrollers though, the amount of control you get to have over Samus is unparalleled, so Super manages to swipe the victory. With great possibilities of exploring, not to mention being on the best planet in Metroid history, and also with Metroid's best and most iconic boss battles, Super Metroid simply is the best Metroid game imo.

Fire Emblem: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - A great story, great characters, and very solid gameplay that really feels good when you plan something right, Path of Radiance manages to be great all around.

Mother: Earthbound - The most psychedelic experience I've had ever before, Earthbound is full of surprises, weird imagery, unsettling locations, even when you expect the unexpected it still manages to catch you off-guard. Besides that Earthbound has some of the best RPG gameplay ever, it says screw grinding and just move forward, and if you actually need to grind it makes it quick and easy. It has such a good variety of abilities that allows for all sorts of tactics too. The story is also simple yet incredibly charming and immersive, something that's vastly under-appreciated in today's story-heavy video games. This is my favorite video game of all-time, it's really an experience that's impossible to match.

Yoshi: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - If I want to play a more atypical platformer with innovative mechanics I'll play Yoshi's Island. It's just great having a platformer with these kind of abilities, and they never grow stale thanks to the very varied level design of the game.

Wario: Wario Land 2 - Even though I dislike games where you can't really die Wario Land 2 manages to balance it out very well, getting hit makes you lose coins, and let's just say that every single coin is very important if you want to finish the game 100%. It also has so many different ways to end the game, I think it branches out into 5 paths.

F-Zero: F-Zero X - It's fast, but not too fast, the important thing that GX missed imo. With F-Zero X you can actually control your vehicle and act in advance. Furthermore, this game simply has the best tracks of any racing game I've tried, they're spectacular.

Sonic: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Not much to say, I prefer my Sonic games as sidescrollers (3D Generations stages and Lost World were still okay though), and Sonic 2 just does that so well. It's very frustrating though, but it only makes it so much more satisfying to complete.

Mega Man: Mega Man 2 - The best Mega Man game is easy to judge, because every NES game has the same formular, and even the early X games too (not sure if it carries on.) Mega Man 2 doesn't need much justification though, best stages, best bosses, best music, best experience.

Mario: Super Mario Galaxy - the sequel was better, but this game just had something magical to it. Exploring the planets for the time, meeting Rosalina, helping the lumas and saving the Princess in an intergalactic adventure to a wonderful score of orchestrated music. It's a rare feeling when a game gives me the same joy the original Galaxy did.
Zelda: A Link to the Past - Despite what Egoraptor says, it has problems, serious problems, but it's just so wonderfully crafted, a massive world full of things to do, iconic bosses and a perfect implementation of a two world mechanic.
Kirby: Super Star Deluxe - How do you make the best Kirby game even better? Add in more content, silly. Super Star Deluxe is a long game that gives adventure in short spurts of quick paces excitement. If 64 were set up more like Super Star, it would have been the best.
Metroid: Fusion - You're alone on a ship, the X parasites have killed most of the passengers, and some have turned into copies on some of Samus's deadliest enemies from her past. Then you hear the metallic footsteps. The Prime trilogy is great, but I feel Fusion pulled off some of the most suspenseful moments in the simple design process of an enemy that can and will kill you. A lot.

:4mario:: Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64 - I've always preferred his 3D games more, but these two always remain as my favorites, especially Galaxy for its incredible soundtrack and fantastic art style. Its sequel was the last Mario game I've truly enjoyed.

:4luigi:: I'll cheat with this guy and pick Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. He's just perfect in that game! :rotfl:

:4tlink:: Wind Waker of course. Easily the best Zelda in my eyes, which captures adventuring perfectly with the ocean setting. Honorable mention goes to Twilight Princess for :4zelda:, which has a great story and cast of characters.

:4zss:: Super Metroid for how it's able to convey foreboding, desolate atmosphere with limited hardware. Prime series takes all of that into wonderful 3D and retains the spirit of the 2D games.

:4marth:: New Mystery of the Emblem, if only because there are actual characters and supports compared to Shadow Dragon.

:4myfriends:: Ugh, I really can't decide for him. I love Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn equally.

:4lucina:: Awakening, obviously. My favorite game of all-time. :4robinf:

:4shulk:: Xenoblade Chronicles. Such an awesome game!

:4lucario:: Pokémon Emerald (super stoked for ORAS) and Black/White 2

:4pit:: Uprising because of how much personality it has. Plus, it has an amaaaazing soundtrack!

:4dk:: I've only played Returns and 64, so I guess I'll go with those... they're both great

:4yoshi:: Yoshi's Island, the only good game in the series. Still haven't played the new one, but it doesn't look that great either tbh.

:wolf:: Assault is teh best Star Fox game! Fantastic multiplayer options and overall a blast!

:4pacman:: Errr... Pac-Man, I guess? :p Too lazy to look, but there was some newer version in Namco Museum that I also liked.

:4megaman:: Mega Man 2

:4sonic:: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle & Heroes from the 3D side. 2, 3&K on the 2D side.

:snake:: Twin Snakes, Sons of Liberty, and Snake Eater, I love them all! :)

I posted in the evil twin of this thread. So I figured I'd balance it out with some positivity. :)

Super Mario: Hard one.... I'll cheat. Three way tie! Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario 64
Zelda: Ocarina of Time: My favorite game ever. LttP is a close 2nd, but I don't have the nostalgia for it like i do OoT, never having played LttP as a kid.
Metroid: Another tie! Super Metroid and Metroid Prime They're basically the same game anyway, except ones 2D and ones 3D.
Donkey Kong: Hmmm... DKC... 3. Seriously! I think of the third one the most fondly. Everyone ******* about Kiddy, but I feel the levels are the most well designed in the trilogy and the most versatile. And the overworld is too cool. I love all three though. DKC = My favorite game trilogy ever. :D
Yoshi: Yoshi's Island. Simply the most well designed plat former, ever.
Kirby: Kirby 64. I loved the ability mixing mechanic in this game.
Star Fox: Star Fox 64. Like there's any comparison.
Pokemon: Black and White. I skipped gen 3 and 4. and didn't' get XY. I liked BW a lot though.
F-Zero: F-Zero GX. I simply love this hard as balls amazing game. I wish they'd even remaster it in HD. F-Zero's dead. I accept that.
Earthbound: Earthbound. I had to force myself to play through the end to see what the fuss was all about. I generally don't enjoy turn based RPGs anymore, but EB does have charm out the wazoo and a lot of great innovations, and that goes a long ways.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Simply great and challenging and Ike's my favorite lord. And, to those who prefer Awakening, I didn't like the marriage/children dynamic of Awakening. I felt it was too deep. I was too preoccupied about optimizing my children and checking GameFAQs to really enjoy the game. Having to restart to be Female Robin, so Morgan can get Galeforce bull****... ruins a game experience. :/
Ice Climbers: Ice Climber. This game is monotonous! But it's the best the the series!
Game & Watch: Never played any!
Pikmin: Pikmin 3. Or 2. Which ever. Both fun!
Kid Icarus: Kid Icarus. Uprising is good, but the original KI has difficulty and nostalgia and Palutena talking when I'm trying to friggin shoot eyeballs. Shut your mouth, woman.
R.O.B.: F-Zero GX! Again!
Sonic: Sonic 2. So, much, love, for this game. Wait, does Sonic 3 & Knuckles count?
Metal Gear: Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Silicon Knights did such a good remake of MGS. Whatever happened to those guys?...
Animal Crossing: AC for GCN. Cute and fun. That's as far as I rolled with AC.
Wii Fit: Haven't played. I don't believe in mixing video games and exercise. I do one or the other.
Punch-Out: Punch-Out Wii. I loves me beating on stereotypes!
Mega Man: Mega Man X. Absolutely perfected Mega Man's formula. Mega Man 2 if were talking the original series.
Pac-Man: The original arcade classic. Pure classic gaming crack. :D
Xenoblade: Xenoblade Chronicles! Turn based RPG are tolerable?! No sh*t!

Mother: Earthbound [...] says screw grinding and just move forward, and if you actually need to grind it makes it quick and easy. It has such a good variety of abilities that allows for all sorts of tactics too.
Tell me your secrets. All the grinding in the world and I still can't get past the endless PSI-stealing pea plants and exploding trees.
