Over the years, there have been plenty of smashers who have risen to excellence, only to slip away from the Melee scene to make room for the next generation. It may be impossible to convince the titans of days past to return to the battleground, and even if we could, there's no guarantee that they would be as great as they were in their prime.
Still, it is an interesting question to consider: Of the smashers that have retired, whose return would you want to see more than anyone else's?

To kick it off, I'd like to see King come back to challenge the Jigglypuff throne. In a time when niche characters are becoming more and more popular, I'm curious to know if Mango's inspiration would be able to contend in the modern smash scene.
