Yeah, I got confused with winners bracket. :p
Ah, okay, for a second I thought I was confusing videos.

Slightly off-topic, but I feel like the character switch(for both players) was strange and kinda uncalled for. Each seemed to do worse upon switching(except when Gibus went back to Greninja)

I feel it was slightly justified for Gibus if he REALLY, REALLY hated Greninja on battlefield that much to warrant a switch. Mewtwo on Battlefield is pretty decent.

Don't know why he decided to stay tho.

He was interviewed - I didn't listen to the entire thing, but caught part of it - and I think he said something like he just does well with Mewtwo against heavies... but Samus (and Bowser, Charizard, and Yoshi) are special kinds of heavies where they're floaty unlike DK, Cloud - cutting it real close -, Ganondorf, Ike, Link, and Ryu who are fast fallers. There's also the issue of Samus being heavily combo-focused which with Mewtwo's large frame and light weight, takes a toll on him faster than Greninja who's more lithe and heavier. As for Lucas, I don't know. Here's the interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-EeVQfaW0g.

Weight doesn't "really" affect combos as far as I know - I may be misinformed. Weight affects survivability and how much hit stun you're in; high weight means higher survivability and lower hit stun and low weight means lower survivability and higher hit stun. Fall speed is what affects combos and survivability along with other stuff like vertical movement... High fall speed means you're prone to juggles and followups as you fall into attacks while low fall speed means you're less prone to juggles and followups as you're stuck in the air for longer. At the same time, low fall speed can make getting hit upwards more risky which explains why Samus dies fairly early for a heavyweight versus Ryu who will live longer. That being said, it's up to you which is the better tradeoff: taking more damage early on or being prone to followups versus being prone to vertical kills earlier and not being able to land as quickly. This is pretty much why I don't get why people say high weight and high fall speed equals being easily comboed when it's just high fall speed.

Yeah, I'm too lazy to retype this...
MinnesotaSmash, the channel for Minnesotan Smashing. Recently, Shinjoebi, PRed #6 and ex-Roy player, took 4th in the University of Minnesota Smash December Monthly: http://umnsmash.challonge.com/DecMonthS4Singles2. Notable sets include winning against MN's #1 PRed player, Ganon the Beast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dgKsG5rBug. Sure, we get it, Ganondorf's pretty screwed against Greninja (and almost everyone else), but if you're that good of a player even in a region people sometimes don't take seriously - hello, Wisconsin -, that's one hell of an achievement taking out your #1 PRed player. Unfortunately, he was double eliminated by PowPow, a Sonic player from Wisconsin. Winners bracket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ5bHKPGWu0, and losers semis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLjCJvBf2gA, against PowPow. Oh, and the winner was SWAG, the #8 PRed player; he was the Mega Man.

1. SWAG, :4megaman:
2. Triple R, :4kirby:
3. Circa | PowPow, :4sonic:
4. Shinjoebi, :4greninja:
5. Ganon the Beast, :4ganondorf:
5. Dexter, :4sheik:
7. Prince Kirby, :4kirby:
7. Yeti, :4tlink:

Yeah, from the looks of things, Shinjoebi did switch from Roy as in September which is when the latest PR was posted in the PR thread: http://smashboards.com/threads/smash-4-power-rankings-directory-project.401710/, and Shinjoebi was listed as Roy. Now and from what the commentators said in his set against Ganon the Beast if I recall correctly, he switched. I don't know when, but he switched. Looking up "shinjoebi (greninja)" on Youtube had October as the most recent time he's used Greninja. 9th in October's monthly: http://umnsmash.challonge.com/OctMonthS4Top32, and 3rd in November's: http://umnsmash.challonge.com/NovMonthS4Top32 and in October's Smash in STC 10/24/15: http://challonge.com/STCOct15Singles. Also got 5th in Sm4sh LL #10: http://sm4shll.challonge.com/LL10Singles. With Roy, 9th in Go4 Smash Weekly: Sm4sh 9/19/2015: http://umnsmash.challonge.com/go4weekly1, 7th in LL #8, #7, 13th in LL #6, 5th in LL #5, 4th in LL #4.

He seems to place similarly with Greninja, albeit it's rising rather than falling like with Roy. I don't know where his tag comes from, but he really is a shinobi if he continues to play Greninja. So, just a good player who happens to use Greninja and who happened to use Roy?
I guess Minnesota's an obscure region, so whatever. Sets of Shinjoebi are just the ones in that quote along with the channel; Shinjoebi's Greninja vs. PowPow's Sonic (Winners Bracket): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ5bHKPGWu0.

Shinjoebi's Greninja vs. Ganon the Beast's Ganondorf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dgKsG5rBug.

Shinjoebi's Greninja vs. PowPow's Sonic (Losers Bracket): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLjCJvBf2gA.

And this one, an exhibition between Shinjoebi and Plague 2's Greninja: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a118MICK4E.

Dump of videos of Venia at this week's nebulous, who took 3rd. Making it all the way to Loser's finals and narrowly losing in Game 5 to John Numbers. We almost there!

So when poking around a few Smash Videos I happened to find these. As someone who plays both characters competitively, I was quite entertained seeing these videos:

JW :4greninja: vs ScAtt :4megaman:
Round 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkVZKTHBU9E
Round 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQnmr-OvPsU
Round 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggjvGKmQmkQ

Though I'm personally on ScAtt's side (one of my favorite players) and was hoping for him to win, this guy JW seems to be pretty good to. I never heard of him before so I Googled his name and he seems to have a few more videos featuring him elsewhere, he seems to be a decently good player in his region from what I'm seeing. In particular, I liked how creative he was with his use of ydro Pumps onstage to disrupt ScAtt, and I'm thinking of doing the same a little more myself.

Nothing feels as satisfying as a fight between my main vs my other main :bluejump:

Hey guys! Played some friendlies on my own setup today so I was able to get some great footage before the tournament. I placed 3rd if you were wondering, losing only to PR players. The first one in particular I got some really nifty KOs and combos, and I'm really happy with my movement and how I played. I'll edit the rest in when they're done uploading.

Scored 2nd at a small local yesterday, haven't been to any tournaments in awhile and it felt really good to come back. Now that I've returned, I wanna improve myself even further this time around and I'd love some advice & critique to make it happen.

DWN.658 :4greninja: vs Isaiah :4shulk:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSnzgmCSNMI
DWN.658 :4megaman::4greninja: (used MM the previous two fights) vs Scorch :4sonic:: http://www.twitch.tv/sakgamingtv/v/36861531?t=01h36m08s

And some games I had on Anther's Ladder, got horribly bodied in a few of them though.

Losses: :4zss::rosalina::4falcon:

Do let me know what I should improve on, I'd really appreciate it. Please and Thank You :p

Welp, I had a lot going on in my life for like the past year or so, and it's still going. I'm afraid I won't have much time to be updating the original post regularly, so if anyone wants to collaborate with me, or take over, I will completely understand. I hope you've all been doing well. It's been quite awhile.

Ffamran Ffamran would approve.

Also, going to be revamping the thread a bit during the little free time I get so that we can have more recent videos posted up. I added a '2016' section and '2015'.

I feel like I already asked you this before, but do you want me refer to you as Pika Kong or DWN on the player list?

Alright guys, massive update on the original post! (about time too) Anyway I came up with the idea to separate the older videos from the more recent ones by separating them into tabs by year. What do you guys think?

Another idea I had was to add a *Tournament* next to the names of those who had tournament matches. Thoughts - and does the color scheme on it look alright? This way, it'll be easier for someone newish to picking up Greninja, or even just someone wanting to watch tourney vids, to be able to find something right away. So to sum up everything, I added the following:

  • 2015 tab for singles/doubles
  • 2016 tab for singles/doubles
  • *Tournament* section next to the player's name who had tourney matches
  • Added BigHairyFart BigHairyFart video(s)
  • Added DrizzyDrew DrizzyDrew video(s)
  • Added Kite0692 Kite0692 video(s)
  • Added Ludiloco Ludiloco video(s)
  • Added Funkermonster Funkermonster video(s)
  • Added @Eddy video(s)
  • Added Some's video(s)
  • Added Venia's video(s) (does this guy have a Smashboards account?)
  • Added @momochuu combo tutorial to the Combo Vids section
  • Added Some's Greninja Combo Video in the Combo Vids section

More still going! I still have a bit of work to catch up… this page alone took me days to organize. Please let me know if there are any broken links, if I missed a tournament match you had, or if you have any questions. Thanks ^^

DrizzyDrew DrizzyDrew can you please confirm if this doubles game was online or offline?
@NinjaLink , FullMoon FullMoon , other Greninjas... link me your 2016 vids when you get the chance so I can update the 2016 tab c:

I know what I'm about to say is irrelevant to the thread, but...
The name of this thread feels like it's talking about me, because I go by Tracking, and play Greninja..

Sorry.

Lol, what a surprise. Forgot about this thread, which is funny cuz I got more videos I forgot to share from my last local (where I basically went Greninja for 77% of the time for once). Took somewhere around Top 8 (forgot my exact placing) and tested myself to see how well I could go on without using my true main more than once, and I'd say it was a pretty successful run.

Funkermonster :4greninja::4corrin: vs Gohan :4olimar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6ndOlfmMH0

My offstage game still sucks though, I'm noticing.

I'm gonna be uploading my 2016 games soon... though I still have some late 2015 games on hand, are those still desirable?

Ok here are my two sets from yesterday. I lost both but the second one was really close. Mistakes were made, I know need to shuri more and fair more but nair worked so well against Smasher I almost don't think I need to mix it up too much to beat him. Yaegerbomb and I are friends so I should know that matchup, but I just kept getting kart to up b'd so I obviously don't know it that well hahaha

First vid: You totally had game 1 there vs that Bowser Junior. As soon as he got momentum, it threw you off and it was difficult to respond/adapt quickly enough to it. Seemed like game 2 was continuing from that, and yeah, those up b + attack from him must have been frustrating to get hit by. I did notice you start using a little bit more shurikens, so definitely should have kept that going for awhile. Im not sure how much difference that would have made in the overall match. And I get the feeling you might have been scared sometimes to commit to fair, but I could be wrong.

Second vid: Reaaally close game 1, felt like you had to work quite a bit to net that kill on his first stock, and that left you behind, but nice work keeping up with him. Game 2, really close again, but good stuff with the win that time, and not getting gimped by the leaf shield. In game 3, I felt like that up tilt kill at the top platform really killed it for you, I could feel your frustration trying to get the quick kill. Good job at avoiding the nair offstage sd (I always get really nervous when I see Greninjas nair offstage lo) but then that shadow sneak sd at the end was unfortunate :/

Overall I agree with you in that more shurikens and fairs would have been ideal. Honestly though it's not always as simple as 'x move should be used less or used more' when it really comes to what to do at a particular situation. A misplaced fair could have left you open to get killed, a shuriken could have been a missed opportunity to take out your opponent's stock... and yeah. Keep it up though, you got this!

Thanks for your analysis. I definitely noted it and picked up a lot of stuff from watching iStudying today.

You'll be happy to know I 2-0'd that Mega Man player today. He's on the PR, so it's putting me on a lot of peoples' radars. It's a really good feeling knowing he doesn't really have an answer to my Greninja now that I've downloaded his tendencies. Things are looking up for our frog :)
