Setups mean any part of the usual requirements for playing the Smash games that will be there. TV sets, Wii consoles, Brawl discs, Melee discs, SD cards with Project:M (a community created modification of Brawl) installed, the likes.

Multiple tournament matches are played at the same time, so the more complete setups there are, the faster the tournament can be run (and this is pivotal since there are multiple events in tournaments, like singles (one on one versus) and doubles (a team against another team).

Well, what else are you gonna play on?
Also of course people are nice at tournaments. Rare are the people who are rude to new players and don't want to see the community they participate in grow.

That makes sense. What will happen when you sign up for more than one tournament games and you have a conflict regarding switching from one game to the next when you're up next for the game?

You finish whatever tourney set you are in then move on to the other. If you aren't in one and they called you for two different ones at the same time, just pick one or tell the TOs to get their **** together.

Only one event is run at a time.

Say there will be Melee singles, Melee doubles, Brawl singles, and Brawl doubles.

They will do only Melee singles first, until the winner of that tournament is announced and gets his money, then they will start Melee doubles, and then that winning team will be announced, and so on with Brawl.

Edit: If a TO runs two events at the same time, then what DrinkingFood said.

In that case they just hold your match. We aren't apex or EVO (major series) and we can understand minor delays. That being said, don't like go to mcdonalds and then expect to not be disqualified when you return lol

Okay. I didn't think they hold your match for being it more than one tournament if you're playing in one tournament while the other tournament is happening. Thanks.

Yeah generally the tournament itself is run by the same person with the different iterations of smash being started at different intervals. Occasionally there is an overlap. By occasionally I mean a lot. Just always be listening for your matches and make sure you or you opponent reports who won their match to the TO or whoever is running the bracket and everything will be fine

He'll be the one playing with the computer and yelling at people to stop playing friendlies. Or just ask someone when you get there. Relax dude, it's gonna be chill.

The guy that you talk to to sign up can usually help you if they're not the TO themselves. Honestly, most of us have known each other for a long while so you can really ask anyone and they should be able to point you to someone that can help if they can't help.

That said, it's always super chill, don't expect assholes. Some times we're assholes to each other but its a friendly thing and most people wouldn't be an asshole to a new player/someone they don't know well.

Good thing you showed up during the most happening thriving phase of the best and most entertaining game of all time, brawl.

One day you too can be in the top 8 mk's of apex.

A character is called broken when they are overpowered to the point of making the game unbalanced, i.e. there are few to no ways to reliably beat them in competitive play.

MK being broken has been the subject of intensive debates, some people say he is definitely able to be beaten with enough skill and others say that he's too powerful overall and is oversaturated, or in other words many top players would pick him so that they can get an easy tournament win. To this day there are some tournaments that ban him, and some that don't.

Don't get me wrong, mk can get easily destroyed.. But a top player mk is something different and you usually see mk dittos grand finals or a mk in every grand final

Interesting. Broken for overpower. I didn't know meta knight was that broken. And banning him in tournament? Hmm, that's kind of silly to do that. Everyone should be able to play whatever characters he/she wants as long as the rules are fair and consistent.

MK kinda takes the "rules" of Brawl and breaks them in half. A lot of the ledge-related and stalling-related rules are in place specifically because of him, for example. Same with stage selection.

If only the pro-banners had focused on that kinda crap instead of "omg he wins all da tourneyz!" then Brawl would probably have a more lively scene now.
