Special Edition Smash Bros. 3DS XL Coming to Wal-Mart

Yesterday, a Wal-Mart pamphlet spilled the news that the Special Edition 3DS XL that was originally announced in the UK will be coming stateside as well. Not only that, but it will be arriving in two varieties, red and blue. They are being released on Sept. 19th, two weeks before the release of Smash 3DS - this means that they will not be bundled with the game, curiously.

These Special Edition 3DS XL units will retail for 199.96.

That cover design is just excessive, it's basically the existing 3DS XL colors with a decal slapped on it.

$200 for an ugly-ass decal on a flat 3DS XL? No thanks. Especially when it doesn't even come with the game, what's the point of that?

Not worth buying regular 3DS anymore anyway when the N3DS will be coming next year (even if there's no confirmation on it coming to the west just yet).
I'm sticking to my original purple 3DS with the gloss/sparkles on it, the 3DS will always be my favorite looking under the DS format all because of that. Here's hoping the N3DS doesn't do boring flat colors like with the 3DS XL, that's one of the things I hate about the 3DS XL, besides the top screen not looking sharp due to wrong scaling in resolution.

this is pointless, and i feel bad for those who decided to buy one. nintendo announces the new 3ds, which will allow for a better control scheme, and then does...this? wtf? also more expensive than a regular (edit: new) xl, so it's a ripoff

Not to mention it'll be obsolete with the New 3DS' that will be coming out eventually. Not worth the investment unless you're an extreme collector of Nintendo products.

I hate these special edition consoles. Anybody who actually HELPED OUT NINTENDO by buying these things when they first came out won't want to buy a new special edition thing that is just as if not more expensive. I like the new route they're taking with the new 3ds. Now people can customize their console without dropping 150 - 200 bucks.
