Regarding the title: I liked Sonic Underground (even though it directly refers to a pretty crappy Sonic cartoon) and Blue Steel. Neither of those would disappoint.

Regarding non-Sonic music... how about Mario music? just kidding...
Move *****, Act a Fool, or Rollout by Ludacris could work.
The "Hot Rod Herman Remix" of a song named Dragula by Rob Zombie is cool.

Napilopez, I have an awesome idea for a sort of "template".

Remember how the beginning of each level started back in Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles? (With the red, blue, and yellow pattern on screen with the name of the level? [IE Green Hill Zone])

We should have that pattern flash on screen for certain sections, then play it.

Then for the home stretch, throw in Robotnik (Or anyone else's) Boss Theme, all as a throwback to Sonic's glory days.

Alternately, the pattern can flash quickly for each individual player's first video sample, then their name appears somewhere without the pattern for every time afterward.

While its not exactly Sonic-y, in fact it has nothing to do with sonic, I stumbled across the OST for diddy kong racing (blasphemy, I know), but the theme from ancient lake is pretty catchy, pretty upbeat and may not be bad for a short section.
