Most of the post-battle quotes are quite entertaining! Speaking about that, there is a Youtube video that shows all the post battle quotes with all the party members. In total, it's less than 9 minutes for your viewing pleasure, so I highly recommend it.

Alternatively, there is a script in the Xenoblade GameFAQs if you want a quick read, but a few lines are a bit inaccurate.

I was replaying Xenoblade on my Wii U (yes, I recently bought one, so feel free to add me) and I underestimated how good the graphics would look upscaled in HD. They actually look surprisingly crisp.

One of my favourites, paraphrased:

Reyn: "You see that? Brawn is better than brains!"
Sharla: *sigh* "Well, I can't let that one slip by, can I?"
Melia: *laughs* "The head! Shoot him in the head!"
Reyn: "What? What did I say?"

That was slightly underwhelming~

But thanks for transcribing it for me! :D

The quote from the game I liked the most was with Dunban, Shulk and Melia/Sharla

Shulk: Hey Melia, you should teach me how to use Ether sometime.
Dunban: Is that how it is? Giving up the sword already!
Shulk: N-no no! It's not like that!
But doesn't Shulk already know how to do it a little?
I remember that his Light Heal art involves manipulating
ether in the air, or something.

That's because the quotes actually:

Shulk: Hey Melia/Sharla, you should teach me how to use a staff/rifle sometime?
Dunban: Is that how it is? Giving up the sword already!
Shulk: N-no no! It's not like that!

And now, to give the Smashboards community a little holiday gift as well:
I'm premium now!

Also, trying to beat that allstar record with shulk now. Gonna take a while I guess...

What you're remembering is actually Sharla explaining her healing arts. There's actually a discrepancy between Xenoblade's overworld and Xenoblade's cutscenes for storyline. I remember somebody saying Sharla was the only one that could use ether attacks even though Shulk was in the party at that time with his light heal. Furthermore, while in the battle system, Monado Shield goes away after the first enemy attack on it, while in the cutscene where Shulk uses it on Reyn it continues to persist. Furthermore, you never see Shulk using any of his usual arts (back slash, air slash, etc.) while in cutscenes. I think quests and interactions with npc's can be considered real though. Heart to hearts too.

I remember seeing the cutscene where Shulk uses Speed for the first time and then being disappointed when it was different in game. (Only 10 seconds at the start and only 1 person...)

I suppose he might; it might just be really weak. I don't remember who/where, but I remember hearing that that High Entia were particularly good with manipulating ether and they themselves can feel ill in areas with a lack of ether. I'd never thought of Light Heal as "using ether", but I assume he just means being taught to use it on a better level.
As for Sharla's ether, I never took her to be the only ether-user, I took her to be a specialist though. Having ether concentrated into solid bullets or something.

So...this happened to me very recently on For Glory (1-on-1). This became one of my favorite KO moments in the game when using Vision. Sadly, I don't have a way to record this replay...so I'll just briefly describe it instead!

Shulk (2 stocks; 80%)
Ness (1 stock; 32%)

Both of us were at the right edge, and Ness threw Shulk back to the right edge of the screen (Shulk – 80% to 92%). Instinctively, I used Jump Art and saw Ness using PK Flash. By using Jump Art, Shulk posed in mid-air (“Jump!” he yelled) and he was facing Ness and the PK Flash instead. Curiously, I decided that my next move was Vision, hoping for the best result.

As Shulk fell closer to the PK Flash, I used Vision as the PK Flash struck behind Shulk's back (“A vision!” he gasped). The force pushed Shulk close to and in front of Ness as Shulk was going to strike where the PK Flash exploded...ALONG WITH NESS (32% to 84% to GAME)!

(“This is a good result!” Shulk said.) Indeed it was, Shulk!

I'm sure most of you know what it feels like to counter a PK Flash. Somewhere out there, my opponent must be shocked to see that. I think my opponent could have simply rolled out of the Monado's attack range.

Why are there still some FG Ness players that use PK flash on Shulk? Haven't they got the message yet?

Thats becoming a must situation for Shulk mains. If you main Shulk you must:

Suicide with Backslash
Vision a PK Flash
Side Taunt when you fight against other Shulk (this should become a tradition)

I believe there's NPCs in Colony 9 that mention all the Homs characters' ether usage (e.g. Shulk's Light Heal, Reyn's auras, etc.) come from catalysts on their weapons, so it sounds like they can't manipulate ether directly like Melia and Riki can.

So yeah. I figured I'd let ya'll know - pre-order your Shulk amiibos. Do not think you will get your hands on one when they hit shelves because YOU WILL NOT. GameStop will only be bringing in enough for pre-orders and then that's it. Get them now!

Sorry. Just figured it warranted it's own thread because it's important info and didn't want it getting lost in the rush of social.

So....yeah. Do like me and pre-order Shulk before it's too late.
I'll make sure it's known to everyone in the Shulk boards. Don't worry about it

Also, I'm not really interested in Amiibos atm

But first, you're sure about this?

Alright then

Also, welcome to the Shulk boards

@ Capybara Gaming Capybara Gaming I decided not to dabble around with the title. I'll just quote it again here for everyone:

I personally up taunt. If you have two Shulks facing, it's quite obviously Shulk time. I save "I'm really feeling it" for when I'm really enjoying the match (when at high tension). "This is the Monado's Power" is something I use to poke fun at the other Shulk. I always wonder if my messages are getting across though.

Oh yeah, and if I'm using the Reyn alt I have to use the "Now it's Shulk time" taunt no matter what (for the first time I switch to the alt).

I haven't started choosing the victory screen yet, but I've thought about it.
To choose the victory screen, hit either up, left, or right on the dpad soon after the opponent dies or the time is up.

Hitting up on the dpad gets either "I've got a good rhythm going" or "The future is ours to decide."
-- I see this as something to go to if you are repeatedly winning against somebody. Could possibly work if you've just had a comeback since 'good rhythm going' implies favorable momentum while 'future is ours to decide' implies you changed the future.

Hitting left gives you either "I got through that pretty good!" or "This is a good result!"
-- I see this as something to go to if you found the match easy. It has a little bit of a lighter feel to it though.

Hitting right gives you either "I can feel the power!" or "I can change the future!"
-- I see this as something to go to if you were having a hard time against the opponent but prevailed. Also works for when you're in high tension.

What other ways do I try to communicate?
---"I'm really feeling it!" *the lag. I'll use this to complain to the other person about lag, usually after pressing and releasing my shield a few times to test the input delay.
---"This is the Monado's Power!" against non-Shulk's can mean I'm letting the person know that Shulk is pwnage.
---"Now it's Shulk time" when there has been a change in the game's momentum or I feel I'm having a comeback.
---"Now it's Shulk time" when used at the end of the match when you win... Shulk puts his hand out in front of him with his head down/eyes closed/other arm on his side. With no sound his body language looks like he's being cocky, almost like him saying "I swept the floor with you"
---In the same situation as the above one (at the end of the match), using "I'm really feeling it" can make you look angry.
---Go to Monado Shield, walk reeeaally slowly at the person. I will sometimes do this to For Glory players who refuse to move. Alternatively, it's hilarious if you go to Monado Shield and fox trot at them (looks intense but you're barely moving).
---Switching to nude Shulk. There's something fun about playing in this alt in general, so I'll go to it if having fun with another Shulk. Alternatively, it could be seen as humiliation (against any character).
---Switching to Dunban alt = Now I'm serious
---Just rapidly pressing the B button -> idk, just general spaminess.
---Hitting B to the music. Self-explanatory, lol.

So yeah, again, I realize some of this is more likely to send a message to the opponent than others :p

LOl, these are pretty neat ways of communicating with opponents. Also, did not know about victory screens being able to be chosen, definitely will remember that. I definitely wouldl ike to fight you sometime. TO THE SHULK PLAYER FINDER.

I'm guilty of many of these myself.
I actually find it funny to go underwear Shulk after I've lost a match, like they knocked the clothes off of me, and then I try to earn them back.

also, thanks for that info on the victory screen. I actually did not know it was possible to influence that in this game.

Since Aerodrome's score was posted, I've tried All-Star maybe 3 times for 3.5mil. Time to retry, I'll earn that paperclip damn it.

Sounds cool but hey, the social thread exists for a reason :p

Oh and thanks. Hinagiku's my favorite Hayate character (I don't like Agnes as a character but she gets better in the later chapters)

Hmm. Can anyone beat this?

(1519.3m)
From memory, I think mine's below that by a few metres. Buster HRBat Smash x3 + uSmash + Smash HRBat Smash.
Edit: Roughly 1300m, not as good as I thought I had. Thought I was high 1400's.

I passed 1,000,000 on Stage 1, and 4,000,000 by Stage 4.
My score on Stage 5: Stage choice hurt my usual strategy, >4,400,000
My score on Stage 6.

I didn't even make it to the end of All-Star, by ~1.8 stages. I was KO'd on Stage 6 because Link, Zelda and Samus kept spamming projectiles. I lament the loss of the score that could've been.

I figured out how to break All-Star. Either way, it's a paperclip well-earned, I think. Thank you and goodnight.

Could you imagine if you could use Hyper Monado Arts in the Stadium modes?

Just, imagine royally ****ing over Home Run Contest.

For my little Christmas, I hesitate between Tropical Freeze, Bayo 2 and Omega Ruby.
Which priority would you give to them by doing a Top 3 ?

I'm genuinely convinced that if we could use Hyper Arts in the Home Run Contest Ganondorf would be kissing his crown goodbye.

Bayonetta 2. Game of the year not named Smash Bros. Possibly one of the best action games of all time. Some argue that it is the best but nothing can overthrow Devil May Cry 3 imo

Sadly I never ran into another Shulk to try this out. Although my friends and I do it locally all the time when they ask me for Shulk dittos (I'm the only Shulk main of the group but they like the Monado boy enough to try him out).

Don't even have Wii U to take advantage qq. Well as luck serves it I'm going to the mall with my local GameStop so I might pre-order just for the sake of collection.

Bayonetta 2, seriously. It is worth it, believe me. Then Omega Ruby, because Delta episode is the best thing since pokemon.

Ran into my first Shulk main the other day on For Glory. Funny story, he started on Shulk, me on Robin. After the first round, I switched to Shulk, he stayed on Shulk, so we had an awesome ditto! We went 2-3 rounds, with my Shulk winning every round, and I decided to switch things up by switching to Lucina... And so did he! We went a few more rounds, somehow switching back and forth between Shulk and Lucina the exact same time every time. Overall, I discovered that my Robin needs some work, our Lucinas were roughly equal, and my Shulk was better. It was ridiculously fun and informative.

Unfortunately, he left right after I sent him a friend request.

Still, Shulk dittos are funnest dittos.
