Schedule
2:00- Store Opens- BE HERE AT THIS TIME. We don't have much time to run the tournament, so we need to go fast.
2:30- PM and Melee Doubles start
3:00- PM and Melee Singles swiss rounds start
5:30- PM and Melee Singles Top 8 Bracket
9:00- Store Closes
Explanation of Swiss system-
Instead of a traditional pools into bracket, I will be running rounds of swiss into a top 8 cut. What this means is that in each round, every player will be paired with a player that has the same record as them. IE if you lose your first round, your round 2 opponent will also have a 0-1 record. This continues until there is a clear cut top 8, which will be seeded into a bracket based on their records.
This system is advantageous over pools/bracket because everyone gets to play more matches and its generally faster. No matter what your record is, you get to play a match every round in swiss, whereas in a bracket you're out after two losses. This is going to be a trial basis; I may or may not run tournaments this way in the future based on how well this one goes.
