Introducing the Road to Low Tier City tournament series! Tournaments here will earn you seeding points for low tier city 2! Seeding structure will go for Project M Singles AND Doubles! More on that later.

If you have any questions, contact me (oracle) at 214-914-2134. Texts are preferred to calling. Alternatively message me on facebook (Rob Dickson) or post in the group.

Location- EPIK CARDS & GAMES 1735 N. Story Road Suite#116, Irving, TX 75061.

Schedule
2:00- Store Opens- BE HERE AT THIS TIME. We don't have much time to run the tournament, so we need to go fast.
2:30- PM and Melee Doubles start
3:00- PM and Melee Singles swiss rounds start
5:30- PM and Melee Singles Top 8 Bracket
9:00- Store Closes

Explanation of Swiss system-
Instead of a traditional pools into bracket, I will be running rounds of swiss into a top 8 cut. What this means is that in each round, every player will be paired with a player that has the same record as them. IE if you lose your first round, your round 2 opponent will also have a 0-1 record. This continues until there is a clear cut top 8, which will be seeded into a bracket based on their records.

This system is advantageous over pools/bracket because everyone gets to play more matches and its generally faster. No matter what your record is, you get to play a match every round in swiss, whereas in a bracket you're out after two losses. This is going to be a trial basis; I may or may not run tournaments this way in the future based on how well this one goes.

Rules: Applies to Both PM and Melee
All matches will be played 2/3
8 Minute Timer, 4 Stock games
1. First round will be played on a neutral stage, struck in an alternating fashion (1-1-1-1)

2. After the first match, winning player/team select stages to ban from all legal stages. Four stage bans in PM, two stage bans in Melee.
3. Losing team/player then picks stage
4. Winner picks character
5. Loser picks character.

I will be testing a handful of different changes to the tournament setup here. Most notably, the pm stagelist and the swiss system. Stage list for PM is still up for discussion. Thats why i've started the poll on top of the thread. Vote here for the stage that you want most to be removed from the front, and vote on the Facebook event page for the stage you want to come back. I'll review the top selections and add some to the stage list for the tournament! There will also be a codeset i'll release with the chosen stages on the front page once the poll is over. Be sure to post why you chose what you did, and get voting!

Proposed Team Name: M.E.S.S. (Male Escort Super Service)

Nice double post by the way. Stay Classy, Scotch. Stay Classy, Scotch.

Your Link stinks. :linkmelee:
For Melee go Falcon. For P:M, I'd say choose either Falcon or Luigi Ness. Whatever fits the situation.

This is the weekend RIGHT after WHOBO.

I'll try to make it, but isn't that pushing things a little close? 2 or 3 week spacing is probably more ideal, but I'll try to make it regardless.

Also, I lol'd at Rob Dickson being censored!

Which one do you play the most, Melee or P:M? And who's your main? I'd love to play you if I can go to R2LTC :)

(To Ali: Nice poster, I honestly expected it since you make a poster for like every single local tournament out here in Texas.)

I make logos, lol. I just like to do that kind of stuff.

So let's recap on this month's tournaments. We have Apocalypse, WHOBO, Play a Real Game, and maybe a DIME. ...and I thought Summer was busy. PARG is like the only one with P:M though, so whatevers.

Tyler should be fielding at least 2 - 4 participants for this tournament. We're planning on bringing a carload, with participants TBA.

edit @ 1630 on 10/6 - Psychoace and Labernash have expressed interest in going, with Psychoace confirmed to be in my carpool so far. Labernash will be riding with me if his parents give the okay, and that sets up the possibility for Icecream to attend as well. So dependent on that, we'll have either one or two cars coming.

You guys realize its ORACLE hosting this event right? He always chooses the most fraudulent stages he can for both P:M and Melee.

if you don't like it then ban it you get two bans lmao stop being a baby
You know what,

**** everything, just have a bracket to see who can beat Classic mode the fastest on Very Easy. Or put in Brawl, timed match, all items, Subspace physics.

Don't give him ideas Scotch.

Oh, I gave Torin and TR8NR flyers and they sound very interested and they are probably going to make it this time 'round.

Question for Oracle: Does our venue fee get waved if we bring a set up?

Oracle, using your logic why not just make every stage legal and just have a few more bans? Its silly to add bad stages and just say heres more bans lmao

Pichu only, Pokeballs only, Pokefloats only! That's how it should be done! [/isn'tplayingmelee]

If I can get the schedule hammered out, I should be able to come with this. Hopefully be bringing one or two others, and at least one setup as well.

zach why are the stages bad? because they move? there isn't a real reason to ban a stage unless it rewards worse players by being random or promotes degenerate play (which does not include moving to different parts of a stage because it isn't flat with 3 platforms). Make an intelligent argument if you want me to change it, don't just go "hurr durr im a stupid new gen who can't handle more than 6 stages". if someone can provide a real reason that i should change the stages, then i will

Oops forgot to put that. Unless there are any objections im gonna use the evo version of dsr where you cant play on the same stage more than once per set, since its a little easier to explain that way
