I've wanted to make a video on Aerial/Glide Tossing but I'd want it to be definitive to explain why it works and why they coded a throw cancel during roll/air dodge. Like how many lengths does a regular air dodge have?
Airdodge length is different for every Control-Stick angle. There's a deadzone and a radius which define the minimum tilt read as such and the maximum difference accepted, but between those every change affects airdodge length. Afaik the zone is used for everything in the game, e.g. you start doing tilts when the Control-Stick leaves the deadzone and you have to reach the radius to get maximum walking distance. For angles it's probably
those.
The (aerial and grounded) glidetoss window is 4 frames and the distance dependent on what frame you throw on (sooner AGTs give more distance, at least for TL), so there are somewhere between 73 and 280 different lengths you can get.
The cancel window probably exists because R+A+Control-Stick is the input for throwing items and it would be too hard if you had to be frame perfect. The airdodge-cancel existed in Melee, but you didn't keep the momentum. I guess the game was programmed to take away Airdodge momentum on throw-cancel in Melee, because AGTs had been anticipated and where unwanted, but that programming wasn't implemented in Brawl because airdodges didn't change your momentum.
