actually contains the soul of the original Rei who was killed by Naoko instead of her mother since she doesn't really have a mother. Remember how Asuka's mom went insane since part of her soul was in the EVA? The reason the Rei we know throughout the series is so distant and disconnected is prob because she only has a fraction of her soul, with the other part of it belonging to the original Rei which is now inside the EVA. Why Rei's EVA is prone to going berserk is the same reason why Asuka's mother went crazy.

I haven't really done any programming at all this entire summer and now I'm pretty lost on things I was able to do last year. It's like learning to ride a bike all over again, lol. I start class on the 2nd and we're using C#, which is a completely new language to me. Thankfully I've heard it's essentially "Microsoft Java" so hopefully it's an easy learn/refresh.

C# is fairly friendly if you've worked in C++. It's kind of like C++ on easy mode, where is automatically takes care of a lot of things you have to worry about in C++, simplifies some other things, etc., at the cost (of course) of a little bit of the depth that you can get from C++.

My data structures class was in C#, which made a handful of things a lot easier.

rei is the true daughter of lilith, so she has her own soul, like kaworu was the true son of adam (altho idk if he has a soul or not, I forget). unit one is simply made of the cloned flesh from lilith's legs and thus does not have a soul and must have yui's soul to make it functional/compatible with shinji. the other evas are just cloned parts of adam, rather than being made from lilith (hence why we never see them going beserk and why none of the other evas get elevaed to godhood). umm read the wiki for more answers

What's the class on? Objects aren't too hard to deal with, or at least they weren't for me. Pointers tend to be worse, but that's also because the syntax for pointers stuff tends to vary so much, which can be super annoying.

Watch the TV series first, then End of Evangelion.

Haven't seen Rebuild but from what I know it's a retelling of the TV series with a different direction, but I've heard it's not as good as the original show.

It looks like Movie 1 is pretty solid, Movie 2 is apparently really ****ing amazing, and Movie 3 is ****. :/

It's game design and it focuses on 2D development. I'm pretty sure the prof said something about using Unity as well.

@ standardtoaster Sounds like a fun class. If you know Java, C# is mega-easy to pick up, and shouldn't pose you too many issues. Write a basic program in Java, then write it again in C#, and you'll pick up on it pretty quick.

We're staying on the big island when we get there for about a day and a half, but we'll stop by Kauai as well, those two are set in stone. I'm going to be there from Friday afternoon to Monday night, so plenty of time to enjoy myself beyond that. I'm actually trying to see if I can't go to Maui at some point, heard it's quite the romantically picturesque place(thought that could apply to any of the islands). Lanai if I have the time, I hear the atmosphere feels almost isolationist, which is pretty cool. I've been reading up a bit, anything to distract me from the impeding doom of relatives. Dunno if I'll have the time to do everything I want, I haven't done much logistics yet, and I think Big Island->Kauai->Maui will be difficult enough.

the rebuilds are certainly being undertaken as their own series, 1.11 was essentially a retelling with some minor details changed (the opening sequence being the only major thing changed [but if you know what it's about it's a pretty major change that underpins the entire eva-is-a-series-of-time-loops thing]) then 2.22 is a cleaned up version of the rest of the tv series with a different ending while being made a bit more intense and concise and adding mari (2.22 is actually the only rebuild that holds a candle to the original series) then 3.33 is anno deciding to say **** you to everyone, deviating incredibly from the set path of the tv series, skipping a lot of plot that was supposed to be covered, confusing the **** out of everyone, giving kaworu and shinji a bunch of gay piano scenes, gives the audience vista aesthetics porn, flying boats, a new rei, more evas, and manages to end the entire thing with both the characters and the audience having less idea of what's going on than when it started

it's not butts tho, it's really pretty and has a decently compelling plot as well as offering more character insights that otherwise might not have happened

we just have to hope that anno ties some loose ends up

which is about as fruitful as hoping that sakurai will release melee hd

Could I get a little troubleshooting here from someone who knows their way around the ASL?
A lot of stages are being stubborn, several outright crashing no matter what and others just behaving oddly.

• First: Wii U - Suzaku Castle over Jungle Japes. The .rel is Final Destination. I've also tried Shadow Moses Island and Skyworld rels.
  
• Second: 3DS - Arena Ferox over Castle Seige. Tried with both no rel and Final Destination.

Couldn't get the pictures to the following:

• Brawl Minus - Lavaville over Norfair. Main stage loads, but the platform, background, and lava don't. Tried with no rel (as it is in B-) and a redundant Norfair over Norfair rel.
• 75m over Kongo Jungle (both Brawl and Brawl Minus versions yield the same result). Collisions load, but graphics don't. The screen is black save for the characters themselves, a tiny bit of steel, and a stationary firebug.

Good thing about C# is that it basically forces you to use objects no matter what you do, so you'll have to pick it up pretty quickly during the beginning of the course, when it should be the easiest
