I don't know if this makes any difference, but when registering my copy of Smash Bros. Brawl for Club Nintendo (since I was trying any way that I could to get more coins), I mentioned in the survey that I wanted Lucas, Wolf, and Snake to be brought back as DLC. It might not amount to much, but I figure that something might come of it if enough people do the same thing.

I thought it was awesome how Lucas was included back when brawl came out! and then i saw his specials and died a little......as yet another HUGE MOTHER series fan i really wanted Lucas to have atleast PK Ground.... we got PK Freeze and (kinda sorta) PK love but that should have been his final smash. ohwell i love me some Lucas, and heres to getting some revamped special for Sm4sh!

PK Love Ω = Perfect Final Smash... but his up-smash was so powerful I'd rather not have it changed.

I think that if we get Lucas back, it'll probably be through some veteran DLC pack. Wolf is a given, but I'm not sure who else they'd include realistically (unless they get Ice Climbers to work miraculously).

In my magical fantasy land, each DLC character would come with their own stage. It's not happening, but it's fun to dream. I'd see Lucas getting either Osohe Castle, Tazmily Village (maybe with two forms to represent both eras?), or maybe Titiboo Theater.

I'm still bummed we just got Onett for SSB Wii U. We've had it three games now. I'd rather have Fourside, Magicant like the 3DS, NPC, or a new stage (I was rooting for Cave of the Past...).

I think Lucas would be a likely candidate for DLC, and wouldn't have to be changed all that much. Ness may have custom moves that are supposed to mimic Lucas' (Lucas's?) specials, but functionally, they are nothing like Lucas's (except for PSI Magnet). Maybe he could bring with him a battle medley for Mother 3 (Particularly Fate, Rock and Roll, and Mr. Batty Twist) and New Pork City.

Sakuri had said that some characters were cut due to time constraints, and that could explain the model. Or it could just be they did not want to demote Lucas's trophy graphics back to a 2D sprite.

It's just a brighter brawl model, look at the eyes. They're still blue

His eyes have blue in them in Brawl if you look closely, and Ness's have a little purple. In SSB4, Ness's eyes look like they're back to just solid black.

It could be. Most if not all of the EB/Mother trophies are either recycled from Brawl (i.e. Porky Statue) or from 3D things that appear in this game (i.e. Devil Car).

And sometimes they didn't even bother with the 3D.

I also noticed Isaac's lack of a trophy. In fact the only Golden Sun thing in ssb4 is one theme that plays in Norfair.

This makes me believe that the Exitebiker was intended for ssb4 because of all its recent cameos. The only reason against it would be the fact that it has no stage. If it was in ssb4 it would be funny because in Melee, the Ice Climbers were chosen instead of the Exitebiker because it was hard to make the Exitebiker jump. Now the Exitebiker gets in instead of the Ice Climbers because the 3Ds cannot support them. XD

I'm not sure why Lucas isn't here now. He was supposed to replace Ness in Melee, and is in Brawl, so why is he not in ssb4?

So the recent leaks kind of confirm Rayman, maybe. Here's my theory a newcomer will be released alongside a Veteran each time which would make Mewtwo the veteran making cut veterans more likely.

My best guess is that Sakurai had to cut one Mother character for time since it's a tiny franchise, and the one who was in 3 SSBs already, had his game make it across seas, recently had it released to the virtual console, and was a bit more universally praised won out.

@ Shaymikyu I'm willing to bet that Mother 3 would be more universally praised if it was released in overseas. It's one of the most requested games for translation.
