I just want to be sure before I use them on wifi, but will the stage texture hack and the music mods cause a de-sync or not?

I don't know if this was asked before, but is anybody planning on making Waluigi playable? If it's at all possible to control his assist trophy to make it playable, that'd be really cool. =)

it depends how complex your character is. i know a little bit about PSA character editing, but i haven't gotten anywhere close to the stuff other people have made.
Oh.

I got plenty(a few actually) of characters that I want edited, but mostly just this one it should be simple as I really just want the most basic things complete first then onto the more advanced stuff, that should help since it seems you're just beggining to get the hang of PSA character editing.

Though I want you to pick which character on my list of to be edited characters to edit.
Would that be alright? :p

PM me when you're ready to edit one. >_>

If the person your playing on Wi-Fi has the exact same codes, then no, you can play, but if you have a code that your opponent doesn't, then it dis-syncs 90% of the time, the other 10% is you can play, but even if your winning, your just committing suicide on your opponents screen.

stage textures might, but music doesn't. neither do character textures

Can i use textures with out the plussery code "RSBE01.gct"?
yes, just make your own .gct with the textures code in it.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right thread to ask this in, but could anybody possibly explain how to use the throw modifier code? I've been looking around trying to find some documentation on it, but I've only been able to find the one post in kupo's code thread that basically just gives the code.

Code:
NTSC

 	Code:
 	Throw Modifier [The Paprika Killer]
C2744D40 00000011
3C008180 811B0008
8108FFFC 7C080000
4080006C 81080030
80BE0008 5105C00E
801E0000 5005821E
801E0010 5005442E
80FE0004 3D008058
61085000 85480010
81680004 7D405B79
41820034 7C0A2800
4082FFEC 7C0B3800
4082FFE4 88080008
90030000 88080009
90030020 8808000A
90030018 A008000E
90030014 80030030
60000000 00000000

adress: 805A7E30
or: 065A7E30 BYTECOUN

FORMAT
XXYYZZWW 0000VVVV
RRSSTT00 0000UUUU

XX = character ID
YY = DMG
ZZ = BKB
WW = KBG
VV = angle
change to:
RR = DMG
SS = BKB
TT = KBG
UU = angle
I get the char ID and the other stats in and of themselves, but how do we say which throw we are trying to modify? And where does one get the original data to put on the first of each pair of lines of data?

I tried looking in the current 5.0 code for examples, but the only data there is

Code:
Throw Modifier Data [5 lines]
06585010 00000020
20054648 0000005A
05462300 0000005A
20040064 00000014
04322800 00000028
which, if I understand the code at all, seems to be making two changes to Lucario's throws (char ID #20). But there has only been one change to Lucario's uthrow, which was then taken back out. So obviously I am completely misunderstanding this code. Anybody know more about it?

I have a couple Questions:

Where can I find: brawl+ character select screen? If I use this without Brawl+ is anything going to be messed up with Pokemon trainer?

Is there a code for darker shield tints? I swear I've seen this.

Is it possible to hack the opening vid showcasing all the characters? What about just the music?

Too many questions I know. Id appreciate anyone answering though.

I had a few questions regarding Brawl+ and the communty's stance on it.

I think Brawl+ is interesting and fun, but I also feel this way about generic Brawl, and I'm a bit split as to what I should be focusing more on. I really like a lot of the stage hacks, for example, and no tripping, ect... but on the other hand I feel as if many techniques and discoveries will be uncovered within the game if the original perimeters are left untouched. I also realize that games are patched on other systems all the time, but I feel as if Brawl+ will actually (if not already) become an entirely different monster (albeit a fun one).

So what is the general opinion of Brawl+? A serious calling? A fun distraction?

Do you think texture and stage hacks would be acceptable in most tournaments held?

I'm not the most avid Brawler around the community, though I play a lot, so this next question might seem a bit strange. There are still more tournaments in regular Brawl than Brawl+ at the moment, correct? Do most tournaments seem to have at least one set up for a hacked version of Brawl?

If I have only so much time to dedicate to a version of Smash, do you think it would be better to practice up on traditional Brawl? Do you consider Brawl+ an improvement overall? It seems to me that many people feel strongly against Brawl because of a few flaws, but most games have those, and it is inflamed by Melee being so memorably competitive - especially within 1v1 circles. I do feel that things like 'no tripping' help, but I can't help but feel that even the slightest change, even a change to tripping, might eventually have an effect on discoveries within the perimeters of the original game.

How do you feel?

3. yes, but you can only texture hack the first part before it goes into a cinema style, as well as any battle scenes it shows. however it really hasn't been thoroughly done, but a site like kitty corp would know more.(you can still edit the cinema parts, but that would take a lot of time and file replacing.)

@ hero
it depends. swaping the music with the my music swap program is a lot quicker and doesn't take any space on your sd card, but it is known to cause glitches, as well as freezing online. replacing the music with PW file patch code will take some space on your sd card, but it won't cause as much glitches or cause a freeze online.

Can someone help? My texture hacks keep freezing when ever I try to start a brawl. It never used to do that until I downgraded my wii to 3.2. Anyone know why it is doing that?

Maybe you need a different file patch code.

Also, who here thinks it would be a good idea to make a universal texture pack that all Brawl+ users use? I'm tired all the crap you have to go through to use textures in Wi-Fi matches, because you gotta make sure your opponent has the same ones.
I'm asking this here because 1, this has been tried before, not sure what happened the first time, and 2, I have no idea how to take over 150 different textures and make them into 1 easily download-able package, so if anyone does know, we/they can totally organize this.

A guide on making your own Gct. Please put this in the OP.

How to Set Up Your Own GCT

By
SymphonicSage12

This guide will tell you how to make a text file of the codes you want for brawl, and then turn it into a GCT.

I'll first do a guide for the cheatmanager on Homebrew, and then one on the pc cheat manager.
But first, there will be a couple things you'll need:

NEEDED MATERIALS:

1.Notepad, Notepad++, or any program that can save text as a txt file

2.The Homebrew Channel, the latest version of the Homebrew browser, and the latest version of the Cheatmanager on the Homebrew Channel (the one with a green swishy logo, not WiiCm.)

3. Gecko OS on the Homebrew browser. v1.9.0.1 or later.

4.An SD Card (at least 1GB, don't go over 2GB), and an SD card reader/computer that can read SD cards

5.The codes you want, obviously

6.An official copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is slightly obvious as well.

I have downloads for some of these materials at the bottom of the page.

Okay, so here are the steps:

Step 1. Open your text editing program (I use Notepad++), and make a new file.

Step 2. At the top of it, type the game ID for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Since I am in the U.S,
it is RSBE01 for me. For PAL, it's RSBP01. For Japan, it's RSBJ01.

Step 3. On the line right underneath that, type "Super Smash Bros Brawl" and then in parentheses right next to that
type (US) (PAL) or (JPN).

Step 4. Skip a line, and then type the title of your codeset. This can really be anything you want.
For example, "Brawlplusery Codeset v5.0 Beta"

Now is the time for the codes.

Step 5. Skip a line after the title, and type the category of codes in the section you want. This is optional,
but helps to organize your codes. What I mean by this is, for example, "Wii RD Codes" or "Cosmetic Stuff." If
you did this, now you need to skip a line after the category title and then put the code in.

Step 5 v2: Skip a line after the title of the codeset, and then put the code in.

NOTE: All codes need a title the line before the code. For example, you can't just put XXXXYYYY XYXYXYXY in the text file. You need a title for it
the line before, like so:

Unrestricted Camera (made by Person X) (x amount of lines)
XXXXYYYY XYXYXYXY

^^^^ The above code is simply an example.

Step 6. Now that you have all your codes formatted correctly, you need to save the text file.
Since this is brawl+, name it RSBE01 (or RSBP01 or whatever, depending on your region).

Step 7. Create a folder on the root of your SD card called "txtcodes" . Put the RSBE01 text file
you just saved into here. Don't put anything else in here just to be safe.

Step 8. Load up the homebrew channel, and load up the Cheatmanager. press a on the wiimote to load up the text file.

Step 9. Press the plus button on the codes you want to activate. Once you're done selecting, Press 1 to generate the gct file.

NOTE 2: Makes sure you have a "codes" folder on the root of your sd card. This is where the gct that is generated will go to.

Load up Gecko OS on homebrew, and enjoy!

PC CODE MANAGER GUIDE:

Step 1. Get the text file ready in the same way as the first manager. Only this time, you need a code manager
for the computer. You can find the download to it in the downloads and resources section.

Step 2. Open the code manager, and select to open a text file; Open the one you made.

Step 3. Check the box on the left for each code you want activated. Once you're done selecting,
click "Export to GCT", and the gct should appear in the codes folder on the root of your SD card.

Load up Homebrew, and then Gecko OS, and enjoy! :)

This is for the Q&A section. This is where I will answer some questions that might be asked
frequently.

Q: How do I get the Homebrew Channel, browser, Gecko OS 1.9.1, and the Cheatmanager on the browser?
A: I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to help you with this. It's against this board's rules.

Q: Can I put the codes in a Microsoft Word document instead of Notepad or Notepad++?
A: Yes, but remember to save it as a txt file. The default is a .doc file, I believe.

Q: Does Brawl need to be in the Wii to start up Gecko OS?
A: Yes. Otherwise it will say "No DVD found."

THIS WILL BE UPDATED AS MORE QUESTIONS ARE ASKED.

First off, you don't have to have the same textures as your wifi opponent does. The file patch code only affects your wii; you can play vBrawl with anyone with textures if you want to. Second, there are already 2 or three complete packages out there that I've seen. The textures are purely for your benefit. Your opponent does not need the same ones.

I gots a question: Let's say I want Phoenix Mario to play with. Is it possible, with the current Brawl hacking skills we have, so I can have both Pheonix Mario and normal Mario together because I just want to add characters rather than replace?

No, this is currently impossible. It is one of the big things that is being worked on right now, so hopefully it will be done sometime soon, though.

It's basically because custom characters are defined by their .pac files, and each character can only have one of those. Putting in a custom .pac overwrites the one that defines the default character. Ideally there will be a code that will allow us to have multiple .pac's for each character on an SD card, and it will tell the game which one to load based off of certain conditions (like costume, or holding a button, etc). I'm pretty sure Almas is the one working on it, and people sometimes refer to this code as the "clone engine."

I have a question.

Because I suck and can't do it myself, is there any way to give Fox's Shine the same knockback it had in Melee or SSB64? It doesn't knock you back nearly as far in Brawl as it does in Melee. So Shine-Spiking is... well not that great.

Is there anyone who may want to give me their point of view on my last post on the previous page? It was some questions about the community's general consensus on Brawl+ vs. Brawl, and I originally posted it in the general brawl room because of that, but of course it got locked and I moved it here as suggested. So far I haven't received any feedback on the matter, but I would still like to give it a shot if anyone could give me their point of view. I would repost it here, but I'm sure there are some rules about that.

So if anyone wouldn't think it too boring or anything, and would be nice enough to give me their opinions, I'd truly appreciate it. :)

A fun distraction?
though nothing really big like genesis has occured with brawl+, seeing is how it is big part of the brawl moding community, i'd say it's pretty serious. there have already been tourneyies.

Do you think texture and stage hacks would be acceptable in most tournaments held?
brawl+ is already using a lot of stage hacks(i assume you mean freezing the stage, no tripping, ect.). textures can be used, but if one of the player has a reason for not liking it(color blindness, it blends in well, ect.) they will be removed.

I'm not the most avid Brawler around the community, though I play a lot, so this next question might seem a bit strange. There are still more tournaments in regular Brawl than Brawl+ at the moment, correct? Do most tournaments seem to have at least one set up for a hacked version of Brawl?
depends who is hosting the tournament. nothing huge like genesis will.

I do feel that things like 'no tripping' help, but I can't help but feel that even the slightest change, even a change to tripping, might eventually have an effect on discoveries within the perimeters of the original game.
no one can really tell you if you'll think brawl+ is better than vbrawl. it is really personal preference. if you are a very competitive player in brawl, i wouldn't dedicate to brawl+(not saying brawl+ isn't competitive, just saying there aren't as many official tournaments as vbrawl). brawl+ will never get as big tournament wise as regular brawl is now.

if your not, just try it and see which one you like better.

Sounds Complicated:confused::urg::urg::urg::confused:

it really isn't. installing the HBC is probably more complicated then that.

Well, this is going to be hilarious, but I've played both extensively with friends tonight, and I had much more fun with +. I was so set to just stick it out with one.

I think I'm going to follow the updates on Brawl+ closer, though. The game just seems to flow better, and more... fun.

Many people (everyone who I've seen actually try B+) find it to be a lot more fun. I would say that if you want some good competitive fun that is not too difficult to pick up, go with +; however, if you are looking to make money, stick with vBrawl. It is likely that vBrawl will have more and bigger tournaments for the forseeable future.

As for your concerns that vBrawl still has things that will go undiscovered if people switch to Brawl+...to put it bluntly, that is flat out wrong IMO. Yes, it took years for Melee's metagame to reach the point it is at now, but that was because nobody was really looking for ATs for the first part of the game's life. The smash community has been searching desperately for advanced techniques to enhance Brawl's metagame since it came out, and there has been basically nothing. I wouldn't really hold out any hope that this will change.

Do a search for "CSS", as in Character Select Screen.
