That is *EXACTLY* what I was looking for. I think of myself as a decent Robin player, but I lack the refinement that the Smashboards regulars here have. Thank you very much!
Question though, what is a RAR back ai-- *googles*
OH, that. It's funny how I know of things that people do in smash by getting my *** handed to me long ago, but I don't know what the terms you guys do are. Haha.
Thank you!
Haha, by the looks of it, you've been here longer than me. I was just a lurker before I got an account recently.
All the abbreviations used to puzzle me too, yeah, often times it's like "oh
that thing we do... it actually has a name!" Sorry for not specifying! I went so long not knowing what SHupair was when everybody here was throwing the term around. And then
Oh, It's just short hop up air! Cue my facepalm.
Reverse Aerial Rush. RAR: you run, turn around really quickly and jump into an aerial. It keeps some forward momentum. Personally, I find it useful for Robin and Ike's back airs. But it depends on your playstyle, I guess.
One thing I don't see many Robins in general doing is foxtrotting (when you tap your analog into the dash animation repeatedly ) People complain about our slow speed, but Robin has a good foxtrot that gets them to places a teensy bit faster. Sure it looks funny, but it works!
I think you're a great Robin, you've got the character fundamentals. I've seen your other videos. You've figured out what strings into what and you're creative about it. Now you just need better opponents so you can start thinking outside the box. xD It's one of the reasons I got into competitive smash, online wasn't challenging so it wasn't always fun. And at tournaments, you wouldn't believe how different the upper crust of gameplay becomes. I sure learn by getting my butt kicked!
I really like encountering good players on FG though. Twice, I've run into players from the top 10 in my city that I know in person.. What are the chances! xD I bet I'll run into one again...
