I don't usually care about the Pokemon's gender, but I always prefer the starter to be the same gender as me.

I honestly only soft resetted the game before getting my starter for a nature. I always do that, but this time, they had to make it so much worse than in every other Generation...

It was a lot faster this gen then it was gen 6

Actually neither of them is the worst.
The worst was in Platinum where you had to go through so much text AND battle Barry, then go through EVEN MORE text and then you can check your starter's nature.

I don't see why gender matters much in Pokemon outside of breeding purposes or if you had a specific nickname that isn't gender-neutral for one in mind.

I don't really mind having a mostly female team; I'm just baffled as to why so many I encounter happen to be female.

thats the issue with me. Almost all my pokemon are female, no males. So I have ro rely on this poor ditto at the day care
