Need help finding tourneys and local events in the kansas city area

I feel like I know the game well, and have down all the fundamentals, and advanced tecniques. My problem is i'm only 13, so i'm having trouble finding tournaments anywhere in the area, and i'm not sure what to do. I live in the kansas/leawood/missouri area, and I want to get into the competitive scene, but like I said, i'm only 13, so I feel like it would be wierd to hang out with older people who are into competitive smash and host friendlies, any help is appreciated. If anybody is around my age and wants to play melee or smash 4, that would be great.

Which area are you located out of?

There are multiple strong scenes in the general KC area, so depending on what side of the border you're at I can probably point you in the right direction.
