What do I do if I see this when connecting

*** Connecting to smash.servegame.com...
*** Connection timeout

This shows that your computer isn't re-directing to the correct address, or that the hub is down. Try these address' to connect, if that fails and you're sure your active settings are correct or you're in passive mode then the hub is probably down. Make sure the address is smash.servegame.com
Yup, not in the first post.

It means that there have been some changes to the file during it's download. Either to the file on your end, or from the person you've been downloading it from. However, there is no way to complete the download as far as I'm aware. Best thing to do is delete the file from your download queue and from where ever you downloaded it to and try again.

Arrrg, why does everyone have to hate Socks so much? We're people too! I've connected to the smash hub using the socks setting before, but I've been trying all night tonight and have been incredibly unsuccessful. Is this something that I messed up in the configuration or is this simply another instance of anti-socksism? -i really would appreciate some help with this one, it keeps telling me that the socks server failed to establish a connection with the hub. Thanks.

Thank you for that post NintendoKing, I really think that should be part of the first page or in an entirely different thread by itself.

Alright, I just went through the entirety of this thread, and I couldn't find anyone else experiencing the same problem I'm currently having. When I try to get onto the hub, I get this:

*** Connecting to smash.servegame.com...
*** Connected
<Smashbot> You've been disconnected because the negotiation between your client and the hub took too long
*** Connection closed

Now I'm positive my DC++ is set up correctly, because it works on another hub. I'd really appreciate any help. Oh, and I've also tried adding :23 and :1411 onto the end of the adress.

It's in now way like bittorrent when you consider the technology behind it, but yes it is a file sharing program where you both upload and download information to other people. The hub is generally used for smash vids, although there are other types of files available (just don't download them if you have a problem with it).

The service provided by the hub is free of charge ^^

RAH! never saw this before:

*** Connecting to smash.servegame.com...
*** A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
What's it mean?

EDIT: NEVERMIND IT JUST WENT AWAY

When you first open you should see something like this

Before you can start, You must do a setup the client.
(This setup is based on DC++, but it can be applied to all other clients)
What is this? How do I set up a client? What am I supposed to see?

Location: Settings --> General --> Connection Settings.

If you are behind a router or gateway, select Passive mode initially. You can switch to Active mode later by configuring your ports
  • If you are directly connected to the Internet then leave Active mode selected.
  • If you are behind a SOCKS proxy, select SOCKS5 and enter the appropriate information.(Very Rare)
  • If you unsure which applies to you, select Passive mode.
NOTE

There is a guide on how to set up active mode which can be found here
(There will me more on Connection setting help below)
How do I know if I'm connected to a router or gateway? I can't find active mode..... How do I know if I'm behind a SCOCKS proxy?

None of this is helping what so ever.....

that last part you dont need to worry about.

just install the darn thing, open up settings, fill in the couple necesary fields, and then add the server into your favorites.
