I would have thought they would have done that with the Mii's.

Rumor has it they are doing that with the Miis as well.

I'll give your vid a look later when I get home, but I'm not sure what I'll be able to contribute - for me, amiibo training is still largely experimental, and still prone to failure where the game AI takes over. I've had a few random successes but it's mostly because of luck.

It was about time they posted this. I really liked how the first match is with a Rosalina Amiibo. It just shows they were not going to hold back on rare amiibos and I was really shocked to not see any ridiculously common amiibos except for Link.

It was a pain, but she was worth it and the goddess is the well trained amiibo to give me a run for my money. Her ledgeguarding, edgeguarding, and juggling have improved thanks to my teaching and the guide that I found. I'm proud of her and glad that I got it on Amazon.

Start an Amazon.jp and Tenso.com account. If you need help feel free to ask me. Both are free, but Tenso will ask for an ID because of Japanese laws, so just photocopy/snap a pic of your drivers license/etc.

The dollar is stronger than the yen so you get each amiibo about 20-25% less in price, it costs about $21 to ship 4 Amiibos but you get peace of mind as well as 4 day max shipping with tracking & insurance in case it gets lost (currently Jr./Olimar are costing me $16).

Might be easier to just look at all the regular Amazon listing and see where it ships from. I wouldn't trust Play-Asia or amiami or any 3rd Parties as they won't refund your money if they understock. I hear more horror stories coming from them on Reddit/NeoGAF than positive feedback.


Japan > PAL. Wouldn't use PAL sites as the Euro is inflated, and shipping cost and time is generally worse (UK > DE BTW). Only go PAL if you get the original price or they're coming out earlier there like Wave 4a and 5b.

Thanks for the update! I know that the first half of that wave (apart from the 8-bit mario) is already out here in Europe. But we don't have the second half yet, I assume we'll get them around the same time as you but that's just my prediction, that's a shame about the Mii Fighters, I reckon they'll come out in the same wave as Falco and Mewtwo

EDIT: The 3-pack thing could also be a shame for collectors not only because of what you said but because a lot of people like to keep the packaging, and I have a feeling people prefer having singular instead of a three-pack packaging.

Well, that sucks... I just happen to be working Saturday morning. Maybe I can slip in there on my break... I was lucky enough to get Ness that way.

What I find super weird is that the three pack preorders are going live before the others, despite actually being released later... It concerns me, as I want Doc and Olimar, and I'm wondering what hoops I'll have to jump through for them too. Hopefully Amazon will have them, as I really like how they handled Palutena.

Getting so many releases back to back in Europe has been horrible. It's constant spending on these things every month, sometimes less. Furthermore, it attracts all the impatient US importers anyway, meaning loads of our stock ends up going there anyway. Then when the US gets their release, it's in much better stock than what Europe gets. Just look at Greninja.

Things improved a bit with Wave 5 especially since we got characters like Ness and Rosalina who just didn't arrive over here beforehand, in some countries anyway, but I don't have confidence that will keep up for the next wave.

Well it looks like I'm not getting G&W as I much prefer JP ROB and could not care less about Duck Hunt Dog. Importing him will give me one non-NA box which will bug me to no end, so that's out.

My only guess as to why they're doing this is that, unlike most of the other amiibos, these three won't be used very often outside of Smash. It's not like we're going to see any new G&W/Duck Hunt/R.O.B. games in the foreseeable future. Since they're less practical, they're perceived as less desirable (heck, just look at how many people here have stated they only want one and flat out hate the other two) and figured they'd profit more by forcing a 3-pack bundle.

I don't get why anyone could actually hate R.O.B or G&W with a passion. One is a flat black sprite, the other is a toy robot. Kind of inoffensive altogether if you ask me. And G&W is pretty subpar in Smash 4, and R.O.B is just decent, so it's not like Sheik and Rosalina where Smash fans hate them for how they are top tier, pretty much just being salty their own favourite character isn't in that position.

Duck Hunt I get because of the laughing when you miss a shot in the original game, but even then, I still find it weird how people get so upset over a laughing sprite.

The 3-pack idea is kinda silly, though it could be worse.

Well, R.O.B. caught a lot of hate back in the day from "slotists" accusing him of stealing a place from "a more worthy character," which was a load of hogwash (suited me fine - nobody wanted to practice with or against him, so it gave me a huge advantage maining him). I think there are some out there who feel the same way towards Duck Hunt with respect to Ice Climbers, and G&W just isn't very popular in Sm4sh.

"Hate" is certainly a strong word, but here's the thing; a 3-pack forcing you to buy all three when you only want one is going to exaggerate those feelings, so while they might profit in the short term by setting up a pay wall, they're doing so at the cost of a long-term sacrifice to their respective fanbases - however, those fanbases are very small, so they probably don't see it as a big loss.
