According to the eShop version packaging, the filesize of the game is 2.1GB (17,300 blocks).
So for those who were worried, your default 4GB micro SD will be more than enough for the game.
Not with Pokemon X on the SD it probably can't. :(

3D World (Wii U) is 1.6 GB.
Pokémon X/Y is 1.7 GB.
Kid Icarus Uprising is 1.7 GB.
I think it's safe to say that Sm4sh will have a LOT of content.

17,300 blocks, eh? I have 20,050 blocks now but I better buy a bigger SD card just to be safe.

@ Storm Eagle Storm Eagle Intelligent Systems wasn't credited on the back of Melee box so I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.

Yup. It is also worth nothing the 3DS assets take less space, since they aren't HD.

Now I am trying to think of a reason for they limiting the soundtrack of the 3DS version... Space clearly isn't a problem.

I could only prescribe that you get a good, reliable 32 GB for the XL, if you haven't. Never even have to think about storage space again.

To add to the information, this japanese pre-order card also states 2.1gb.

Just because there is enough space doesn't mean more can be put in. The 3ds has a lot of limiting factors that take play along with storage space.

It is just freaking music. How would more music being added to the game affect the performance? Would that be possible, @ Hong Hong ?

So, sense I have no other games installed onto my 3DS (besides that free submarine game) I should have more than enough room for smash?

If you have at least a 4GB micro SD card, yes, it will have more than enough room for Smash. If you have a 2GB micro SD card, then nope.

Nope. Since the game already has to grab either one or two songs, there is no more load that would be created from having more songs to choose from.

At least half of that space is occupied by Ridley's model, I bet. :troll: (Hey, someone had to say it.~)

Nah, but really...I've been tempted to go digital for this just so I can have it next to Pokemon at all times. And so I can get my hands on it a little sooner! May just do that and take a vacation the following week so I got plenty of time to play. Heh.

I'm going digital so I don't waste time going to GameStop for a game that could be sold out

The big thing that I took from that image is confirmation that Mii Fighters can be transferred between 3ds and Wii U versions. Yay. <3

Hmm. Ok looks like I'll just delete Senran Kagura Burst cause that game took up most of SD card space anyway.

Actually, never mind, I just checked, I have 27,603 "blocks" of data left. Meaning after the download I should still have at least 9300 blocks

Brawl is 8GB in comparison if anyone is curious.
8GB less? Or just 8 GB overall?

Of worthy of note: Subspace Emissary took half of Brawl's file size. Add in My Music and FMV, the actual core Smash experience and many of its modes would probably sit pretty tight. Haven't gone through to compare the files sizes myself, but maybe 3GB or so? The assets per piece for Smash 4 should be a little more than Melee, at least for characters. Trophies actually look a little lighter in Smash 4 than Melee, though I won't make a definitive claim until I have looked at them first-hand.

8GB in total. It'd be impossible for it to be 8GB less when Smash 3DS only is 2.1GB. It's no cause for worry though, a lot of the file size is saved from the lower poly models and the lack of SSE.

Thanks, Hong!
I got a 3DS XL that comes with a 4GB cars by default, yes?
Yes, you're good.

And nothing of value will be lost :troll:

2.1 GB? Whoa, I didn't expect that. Looks like 4 GB is enough to play the game digitally.

The 3DS version is a big beast. I wonder how massive the Wii U version will be?

So this picture of the Japanese Packaging was taken:

Does anyone know what all of this says? Does anyone know Japanese here?

Anyway, just wanted to bring this up, if it hasn't been brought up already.

Apparently, the Japanese version of that game uses 2.1 GB (or 17,300 blocks). Hard to say how big the NTSC-U and PAL versions will be though.

I would've thought that the 3DS version would be using more memory than that; at least 7 GB, seeing as a 3DS game card can hold up to 8 GB.

Also the 10 characters in the squares are probably guarantee starters. Maybe a few more added to that. But at least those 10

I thought it would use at least 4GB, the capacity of "default" 3DS cards, but alas they decided to limit the music selection of the game for no reason whatsoever.

@ Reila Reila @ Smash_Handle69 Smash_Handle69

The thread on the Japanese packaging and the thread on the filesize have been merged, since both threads are discerning the most amount of information possible from the packaging. Reila's thread came first, but I used the title of the later thread so it can be all-encompassing.

Just got back from the store and got me a new 32 GB SD card. Now I have 204,018 blocks on my 3DS left. Just as long as I have $39.99 on my Nintendo eShop balance the night before the game is out, I will be ready!
