You´re at a good start. I don´t actually own the game yet, so if I say something completely wrong please ignore me :).

I think that you should start practising some more edgeguarding. I saw some times when you could have prevented Ike from getting back by taking hold of edge or by striking him after his returning. You also used roll a bit too much imo. If you use it conservatory, it surprises your opponent every time you use it. Also try to mix more throws into your game when fighting Ike who uses counter.

All in all I think that you have what it takes to get into a great Zelda player. I can see that you fight by using a lot mindgames and that´s essential to a great smasher. Just keep practising and posting videos, I want to see more!

P.S. This was the first time I saw Farore´s wind hit an opponent when Zelda reappears, I´ve been looking videos about that! Thanks!

oh wow it's naks!

i've seen a lot of your videos! pretty good ^_^!

you try to use a lot of farore's wind, if i remember correctly. you just need to work on spacing to keep away from suicide, but otherwise it works nicely for surprises.

yeah agreed. it hurts a lot when I mess that up especially when I lose 1 sided matches in my favor because of it lol

Good use of Farore's and Din's, though while recovering with Farore, you might wanna direct it downwards if you're already above the platform, so there's less falling time.

I noticed several times you downtilted 2-3 times, and then followed up with a forward tilt (in your featured at least). While the forward tilt is a decent option here, the Downsmash is at least as fast, and sends away entirely horizontally. Against a character like Ike you might be able to get early gimp-kills with this move, as if he is below the ledge and a fair distance away he probably can't get back.

There are also several instances when you walk in to the obvious counter. At least twice, you start to attack him right at the end of it. Maybe you just don't have its timing down (I know I don't entirely), but be mindful of this. If you see him start a counter, your impulse should always be to grab, just in case.

Also, your edgeguarding technique looks like it needs some work. Din's Fire is not your only option. Dair spikes are ridiculously stasfying. And an off-stage lightning kick is almost always lethal.

As far as dair spike goes.. I've landed it a couple times off video. I tend to end up gimping myself when I try it though. sometimes I even get the magic sparks but ike's Up B seems to have a tendency of blowing through it not sure what I'm missing but it's scared me out of doing it now. Any suggestions?

Do it far out to where Ike wouldn't normally use his up B. His up B should have better range than your Dair, so if he decides to use it too early, he'll kill himself. Zelda should be a good chaser. Her floatiness and large third jump will be great assets when using aerials far from the main platform.

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you're afraid of killing yourself while using the Dair, use the C-stick. I can't count how many times I used to SD because I propelled myself down while using Dair.

I haven't seen all the videos yet, nor am I any sort of Zelda expert, but there was one thing I noticed in the featured video. At the end of Ike's first stock, when he's at 170+, it seems like you have about a dozen opportunities to end him with a downsmash, but you keep going for grabs or do extra rolls instead. If I remember correctly, Zelda's downsmash is one of the fastest smash attacks to come out in the game (or at least it was in Melee), whereas her grab was one of the worst. You probably shouldn't be so shy about using the downsmash, especially against Ike, seeing as how he looks really hard to approach from the air (which cuts down your choices for quick, reasonably safe KO moves by a lot).

a trap that many new zeldas fall into, never fair when your just trying to build up damage or when you think you might not be able to hit., because damage deterioration will bite you in the *** later, you should use kicks only when you're ready to kill and know it won't sourspot.

Yeah I was actually trying to test something I read on these forums.. something about up throw killing at 170%+ with a star KO by itself. As for the kick thing.. A LOT of people say I don't kick enough, that's why I started kicking a lot more I used to only use it for a convenient setup that I know will land.

Thanks for the complement. I'm still trying to get better with it.
hey your new sig (i've been away, so it COULD be old) is totally awesome. i definitely see "nakayorz" in it even without the text (all that farore's wind :p). 's pretty sweet.

...

... that sig is AWESOME. If I ever decided to get rid of mine (not happening any time soon), I'd steal that one from you while you.
Aww thanks luthien, didn't know you had sig envy lol. I tried to reorganize things and make my links here more organized without cluttering it up with bad matches.

You're doing very well Nak. Thanks for all the talks and discussion and stuff. Very fun and informative.

Keep up the good work. And I hope you can somehow make it to Hawaii this summer so we can play face 2 face. :]

Very good vids, but just the main weakness I noticed was that you're very fond of Zelda's dash attack. I'm not saying don't use it, it' just that I've seen instances where you use it a bit too liberally, lol, often times where a grab would've been a perfect option (that too, you very rarely grab even when you have an open opportunity). But overall, I like the play style, you make it work. Let me know what you think of these suggestions, if they don't fit your style that's fine :p.

edit: (mostly referring to the dragonforce video)

after watching one vid (haruhi ftw) i think that your play style is a lot like mine (not sure if thats a good thing) i tend to think of myself as an aggressive zelda player, trying to get big combos and trying to make sure the opponent can't get in attacks. so to me, i thought there were many times where you did nothing when you could have been attacking. i think you might depend on throws a bit to much (but this is coming from someone who barely throws at all). you don't have to follow my advice....if you can call it that....but i think you have a good play style. it will be fun watching you progress (i love seeing how people get better, especially if they are better than me)

Gosh darnit. Ryko has such a bothersome Ike. Good matches Nakayorz. I'll have to watch all of them later.

Hope to play you semi-laglessy sometime soon. :]

P.S. Don't forget to hyphendash. =D

LOL one person says grab more, then another person says I don't grab enough then another person says I grab too much.

All my vids are available on my youtube channel if you're interested in watching progression I still kept some old stuff from way back in february lol. Playstyle is ever changing depending on the situation but yea I hyphen smash a lot now when ryko gets spot dodge happy. I just haven't done any offline recording since our exchange luthi. (Nor do I feel like going through the tedious work of going through tons of footage to break them up into post worthy matches lol)

oh yeah on a sidenote luthi if you come up with enough ledgestealing footage just send the replays to my wii code and I'll cut them together into a decent tutorial vid.

Good to see some new vids from you :). I love your Nair usage, I should really use it more than I do... Your friends Ike seems to be polishing up nicely, so good job on making it look easy, lol. Great evolution of playstyle.

No really, I quit.
Not to be confrontational but I'm "WAY too aggressive" because I'm working on my aggressive game, or lack thereof. My defensive/retaliatory game is pretty much a lock, if I stop moving or start heavily dodging then my goal is to shut the other person down while milking my current/last stock and I honestly tend to do so practically without fail which you're free to ask around on, I have been known to be patient enough to sit around for ages and just wait for someone to screw up. For an example please refer to the my last stock on http://youtube.com/watch?v=L07ZCgly4DA or http://youtube.com/watch?v=X8x4bhqN64M (I will upload a match where dias beats the ever living crap out of me for being aggressive soon). Also I'm trying to find a balance so as not to drag a match out, playing defensively/conservatively tends to make a match last twice as long since no one short of metaknight approaches ike. This, combined with the fact that my immediate friends play uh... zelda, and turtle heavy DK's/Ike and one of us had to decide to be the aggressive one in the group.

It's my weak point, therefore I work on it. Don't count me out until the game set comes up.
