It’s a double update today, covering the aspect of special moves that can be charged, but of more interest, the Final Smash of Lucas, which to me, seems to be one of the more devistating attacks.

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lucas_071123a-l.jpg" alt="Tee hee hee....*Head turns 360 degrees*" />

Before we get to Lucas (stop moaning) we’ll run though the chargable Special Moves. For those who haven’t played Smash Bros previously, some moves can be charged up, such as Link’s bow, wher the longer it’s held, the futher, faster and stronger it goes.

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/basic09_071123a-l.jpg" alt="Link realises, too late, that he had a spare Bomb arrow and that he probably shouldn't have spent so long aiming..." />

Other moves, like Samus’ charge shot, can be charged by just pressing B and it’ll charge by itself. It can then be stored, so you can charge it up and then in the middle of a fray, let lose a big blast.

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/basic09_071123d-l.jpg" alt="Yeah, I got nothin for this, sorry." />

These can be stored by either letting the charge finish, or by pressing the shield button. If you didn’t finish charging it all the way, next time you press the button, you’ll start charging from where you let off, so make sure you tap it twice if you want to shoot it early. Also, if you have fully charged it, there’s a subtle effect that’ll help you (and others!) remember it’s charged, like DK has some smoke coming out of his head when his Giant Punch is fully charged.

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/basic09_071123e-l.jpg" alt="Only you can start forrest fires (with your head)" />
<strong>
Now, Lucas’ Final Smash!</strong>

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lucas_071123b-l.jpg" alt="PK Constipation!" />

He croches down and yells out…..

<strong>PK Starstorm!</strong>

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lucas_071123c-l.jpg" alt="Oh God oh God oh Gooooooooooood!" />

It gets worse before it gets better. (For those being hit I mean)

<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lucas_071123d-l.jpg" alt="Why didn't I hold shield or jump off the edge or attack Lucas, auuuugh!" />

<blockquote>It may be that it?s less advantageous on larger stages and more advantageous on smaller ones. There are a variety of moves like this that have clear advantages and disadvantages depending on the terrain</blockquote>

PK Rockin is cooler. Poo knew Starstorm and it wasn't as strong. I'm kinda disappointed that the main character of Mother 3 doesn't know Rockin or whatever it's called in Japanese.

That being said, Starstorm still looks really cool. Do you think it'll go through platforms though?

Epic FS is epic. Could've done without the chargeable special moves though

on the pic where its destroying everything, it went through the bottom platform and it looks like it went through the destroyable ones too

Yeah, well, you can't assume that everyone that goes to the site has played Melee or 64. He's gotta pander to everyone.

pro status!! i say disapointing becuase with the new air dodge couldn't u time dodging the meteors to some extent

and as a link main a pain shared be most- a fear harbored by ignorance, not by habit but of the simple fact that we are uninformed-- now up+b must be charged and the arrow lets go as soon as it reachs max... very nasty

I think Sakurai realizes most of us already know this, so he purposely gives us double updates, something for the n00bs, and something the veterans can enjoy.

BUT WHERES THE NEW CHARACTERS?
And yes, epic FS.
Also I was hoping what he said earlier...
Sakurai said:
To enjoy more of the depth of special moves, try holding the button down longer to charge up attacks, rapidly pressing the button repeatedly, or tilting the Control Stick while doing the moves. You might also want to try them in midair.
Was saying that MORE moves now have different variations, not that each special move only has one of these options.

But, there are also some moves that continue charging even after you release the button...

DK's Giant Punch

Samus's Charge Shot

...among others.
Hmm... lets think. Who else had moves like these?

Sheik and Mewtwo.

Yeah. And none of the other characters confirmed to be in Brawl have moves like this, unless they are yet to be revealed, like Dedede's B move.

Makes one ponder, doesn't it?

Heh I agree with Mic on that Picture with Luca saying "Hee hee hee" then you can just imgaine little kiddy songs that play in your carriage and then you hear Lucas say "wanna play with me?" then all of a sudden.. Play With me Dammit!!!! *then Lucas releases the beast. PK MOTHER****ING STARSTORM. That's all..... you *****.

That doesn't mean anything...

Yeah, it does. Why else would he say "among others" unless there were other characters with moves that charge in that fashion?

It really is the secret of the charged moves update. I made a thread about it in the General Brawl discussion. Talk about this there.

It just means there's going to be more characters with chargable moves. Not that suprising or deep.

Exactly. But it gives a little extra hope for Sheik and Mewtwo to return. And of course any newcomers yet to be announced are totally up in the air in this regard.

Sheik's already returning, and I doubt she's an AT or just a trophy.
The details on thatare still extremely vague...

Though Zelda has been confirmed, no official evidence of Sheik's return has yet been presented by Nintendo. No official evidence of Sheik's return has yet been presented by Nintendo. However, Shiek (along with Ganondorf) have had models sent to Sakurai, but it is unknown what they will actually be used for.

Exactly. We all know Ganondorf is coming back, just as much as we know Luigi is.

So do you relly think the guy that made the playable character models fo two Zelda characters just made the third for an AT or soemthing? That's why I say she'll be a PC, not a AT.

Samus: "The little ******* is using a Final Smash!"
Link: "Don't worry, Final Smashes that you don't have to aim have some major weakness!"
Lucaus: "It sucks on larges stages."
Link: "...crap."

I come from the land of the ice and snow..
Dojo updates = terrible still. 4 weeks going with 5 good updates now. Vaginer.
It's a fact that any week in which we get a character all the other updates are viewed as awesome around here, even if they sucked. That's why that one week with Pokemon Trainer on Monday and Peach on Friday was "the best week ever." There are only so many Sonics and Stage Builders he can give us without leaving SOME surprises for the game..

Seriously, this week wasn't too bad at all. 6 alternate costumes? Hot dog! And Lucas' FS along with Ice climbers are some of the most epic we've seen yet.

On topic, I'm sure Lucas' FS will go through platforms. I mean, seriously, would they just let you stand under a platform and dodge the whole thing?

I dunno, you can't really tell from the picture, and those are breakable platforms, so I still don't know.

Augh, I was expecting Megaman :p

And why didn't they show off Link's Up+B charge? That's actually new to this game! Come on Sakurai, be logical! At least show off something new during these crappy, boring updates!

wow
a final smash that is finally good
we really haven't seen any good final smashes in awhile
oh and does anyone know what Snake's fs is

something random just to add in:
yeah Smash64 sucks (i played it yesterday at my cousins house and it plays so laggy)
Melee is like ten times better
brawl will be 100 times better than melee

yeah srry for double posting
but yeah they showed that in the video on youtube
I want to know what that actually does
like does it only work on the ground or in the ground and in the air
obviously it will be a longer attack than normal but will it also allow you to reach higher than normal?
and also how long will it take to charge
this might destroy it as a recovery move but make it a really good attack
not really but whatever
