When I first saw the tournament attendance issue brought up, my first thought was "Street Fighter 4" and the various other fighting games coming out that would take some attention away from Brawl.

Are tournament results used to weigh which matchups are most important to have even/good in? IE: Mario hasn't been winning many tournaments, so even having just a slightly even matchup against Snake or MK will weigh better than having a good matchup against Mario?

The problem with making tier lists based on matchups is that they may not represent a tier position a character deserves. For example, Zangief in Street Fighter 4 beats like half the cast, but the other half he doesn't beat happens to be higher tier guys that you'll be seeing in tournaments.

I notice a lot of people trying to argue characters up aren't even trying to explain how their character is better than the ones right above them, but instead try to advertise a lot of their strengths in a vacuum.

I'm tempted to try going to this even though I don't practice at Smash anymore.

He only drains EXP if you let him. Otherwise he is the ultimate support unit for the rest of your characters, and his extremely high base stats offset his growths (which only speed is meh in that department, and he can just use good weapons if he needs to).

People get excited about the tier list in this thread, but once it's released we'll have a swarm of people complaining about the existence of the tier list.

Projectile is still a longer reach than his melee attacks, so I would say projectile spam can still be useful for zoning purposes and seeking opportunities to strike.
