Hey guys i was wondering what format and configurations to u use with ur video to get the best quality on youtube. The quality of my vids are pretty good but there are much better ones out there so i was wondering what is the best way to get higher quality on youtube by messing around with the format?

My method of getting better quality is by using the "fmt=18" at the end of the url. To make this work for your videos, you must make the video a larger resolution than the old method 320x240. So for example if you make it 640x480, you'll be able to get better quality.

Example of my Video

Normal Quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8w6efz_acw
Higher Quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8w6efz_acw&fmt=18

Otherwise, if that's not the method you'd want then maybe someone else around the boards might know. :/

You know, I was about to start a thread asking about this because recently I noticed something very interesting...

I uploaded this video on the 9th:

For the longest time, the quality was crap. Then, all of a sudden, it's crystal clear. Like it improved overnight.

To give you an idea of what it used to look like, there's this video, which is of the same thing. I posted this recently. It's my own transcode of the original video down to 320x240.

I'm going to leave this one up and see if its quality improves over time.

Yup! That's true. The quality will kick in after an hour or two, from the time the video has been uploaded.
