Hey look! A thread questioning why certain pokes don't lean certain moves. I'll start.

Why doesn't Torterra learn avalanche? If anyone should learn the move, it would have to be the continent pokemon.

Because it's too busy jumping skyscrapers to learn any of that.

The Bidoof line is the only line designed that is a legit Pokemon design ala Gens 1 and 2.

Its just that Pokemon are so overly complexified that it looks stupid being so simple >.>

Because Spore is one of the best moves in the game, and only a select few Grass types are allowed to have the best move in the game.

For example, I bet Breloom would be a somewhat obscure Pokemon without Spore, UU or something. MAYBE BL. It's just such a good move it makes the **** thing Super-OU

Why don't most Grass types get Spore? Plants release 'spores' anyway.
Because biologically speaking, most plants' life cycles consist of the sporophyte and gametophyte generations. Sporophyte generations producing spores and gametophyte generations producing gamytes / zygotes, hence the name. Bryphytes like mosses have a sporophyte-dominant life cycle, while gymnosperms / angiosperms like flowering plants, etc. have a gametophyte-dominant life cycle.

Only fungus release spores, so only mushroom pokes get the epic sleep move of doom.
I can just barely imagine s-deoxys with spore *shudders*

Plant don't release spores, mushrooms do. Which is why breloom learns it.
Plants release micro/megaspores in the gametophyte stage of their reproductive cycle. Every plant releases spores. Spores are just for reproductive reasons.

So any/most grass-types should learn Spore anyway. The ones that should learn Spore are the ones like Oddish, Bellsprout, etc.

That's what Sleep Powder is for. Gamefreak didn't want every grass type to be broken. Spore is a special move that barely any Pokemon learns.

Honchkrow would be the best non-uber Pokemon in the game if every grass type learned Spore. Just saying.

Pokemon is aimed at children. Plants releasing spores is too in-depth.

...

Well, it would make Grass-types not as crappy annoying for some people to use.
