Why doesn't this work?

I'm sorry if this has been posted already but I did a quick search and found nothing. Everyone knows that Peach hurts anyone a lot with a down smash when they crouch. However, if an opponent is hit by Jigglypuff's sing and are then hit by Peach's down smash it doesn't have the same effect. Why is this? Many Thanks.

the first hit hits them away if they aren't ccing while asleep

i think it is because they arent crouching when they are asleep and hit by the D smash is why it does not have the same affect as when they are crouching normaly

It's true, the point of getting slammed like a poke'mon attack is to teach them not to CC. Now when you're asleep, it's about the equivalent of geting Dsmashed if you were just lying on the ground.
