Pit's not bad though... He's great at everything and has a top tier landing trap and edgeguarding game. Overall, he's not outclassed by most of the cast. He's realistically sitting just outside of top 15. It should be obvious that Cloud's not just better then him.

There's no point in playing suboptimally in my book. It's like jumping clear off the stage... You know better. Honestly, optimal Pit is probably better then rushdown Cloud or whatever you play. He fits me way better, and Cloud I find is one of most unfun and boring characters to exist in a fighting game.
I'll concede that Pit is pretty good at edgeguarding. I guess I just don't see what you see in him. Maybe I'll give him another chance in the future when Pit mains advance the character further.

Also, what exactly do you find unfun about Cloud? I've heard people complain about him, but I never really got what was annoying people.

Stop by the Pit Discord sometime, and tell 'em Lancer sent ya. Mostly because I can't go on Discord since my tech is ancient. ;_;

Like I said Cloud usually wins neutral by running away and charging Limit. That's boring AF and completely ruins the character for me. He's a strong character and I don't hate him for it, but effectively cutting out a part of the game ain't fun.

:4littlemac:When I first picked up Smash for the 3DS I drifted towards Little Mac. With him I learned basic fundamentals and techs. Basically he was my learning character that I dropped when I seriously started taking competitive smash seriously.

:4falcon:Falcon was my original competitive smash main. With him I was able to become a for glory warrior and destroy friends, but later dropped since he didn't fit right anymore for real tourneys. So he was replaced with Sonic, who I use today.

:4mario: Was my first official main when I started playing this game more seriously over the summer. I went with Mario so that I could learn fundamentals and the basics of the game much better than I would have had I stuck with :4samus: from the start. After about 4-5 months with Mario, I began to notice that, because of Mario's fantastic frame data and low-lag on pretty much every move outside of smash attacks, I was falling into bad habits because I was so used to having low endlag, high priority moves. That, and Mario was becoming stale for me to play as is. The more I played him after getting core stuff down with the game in general, the more bland he felt. I still love his combo game and solid neutral, but he was missing two key things that I really wanted in a character: Good zoning (I just don't think fireball does enough) and good projectile game (again, fireball is alright, just not enough imo)

Hence the triggered switch to who I originally wanted to main when I started playing, :4samus:. I began playing Samus seriously about two months before the patch that gave her the huge load of buffs that she received. Ever since, I don't regret my decision one bit. Even though Mario is a great character, Samus fits the play-style that I like to play more.

I'm sad people are dropping Greninja so much for being too hard.

I've only dropped :4lucina: as a main, she's now a pocket character that I use once in a while. I still use :4littlemac: and :4zss: as my co-mains, but my serious secondaries are now :4cloud: and :4ryu: going from my original signature that I need to update now. I do use :4bayonetta: as a pocket as well, but I don't use her competitively because of my focus on :4zss: and :4littlemac:.

:4bowser: Despite absolutely loving his character in the RPG games, I just sort of fell out of him. I didn't like how his whole gameplan centered around up throw when it was buffed. Granted, it's probably drastically different now, and I might try him again, but that won't be until I can mod in the Bowser's Inside Story voices into the game

:4corrinf: I was already a little iffy on her mobility, but then they nerfed that! I know her Counter was a problem and deserved it's nerf, but who was complaining that she was too fast?!

:4greninja: I didn't drop him because he was difficult (no worries Y2Kay Y2Kay ) but because I had more fun with other characters.

:4lucario: My first ever main, and the reason I bought Smash 4 to begin with (I had no idea what Smash Bros. was at the time, let alone the prequels) but I didn't like how inconsistent he is. Either stay alive long enough to abuse Aura, or die and basically lose the set.

:4pacman: After dropping :4lucario:, I gravitated towards two men (the other you'll see shortly) and decided to main them because I liked how they looked in Smash. Eventually I saw how they were supposed to played... and dropped them instantly.

:4megaman: See above

:4villagerf: After dropping :4pacman: and :4megaman:, I began thinking if there was even a point in keeping a "main" since I couldn't pick and stick with one for the life of me. I decided to settle upon :4villagerf: for the time being but became bored after a while. Yet again, I dropped another character.

:4pit::4wario2: Both share the same story of me liking them, but not enough to continue with them

:4wiifit: I had mained WFT for the longest time, and I was seriously bent on pushing the character forward, but... I don't know what happened. I got Mewtwo, and once he was buffed, she just... drifted off. Now I can't play her nearly as well as I could before. Maybe I'll go back to investing time into her but that remains to be seen.

:4bayonetta:/:4bayonetta2:: Bayonetta was a fun character, however she is made for quick combos which I am not used to. Not a main or secondary, but I would still use for fun.
:4ludwig:: He was my original secondary, I was good with him until updates and now I don't feel the way I used to feel when using him.
:4pacman:/:4megaman:/:4metaknight:: (Not the same character, but the same reason) They were my secondaries for a while, but aside updates, I wouldn't do good no matter the dedication I took with them, but at the same time I never once understood using them well.
:4miigun:/:4miisword:: To be honest my mii was my original main. Thanks online smash for making me drop the main. I hardly use my mii anymore but when I do use it, it would be normally for fun.
:4jigglypuff:: Same reason with :4pacman:/:4megaman:/:4metaknight:, but more of a feeling of confusion. I knew jigglypuff well when using her, however I was confused on the timing of the moves. I always use them at the wrong time.
:4darkpit:/:4pikachu:/:4drmario:/:4tlink:/:4kirby:/:4wario:/:rosalina:/:4lucas:: I love the fighting moves, they're perfect, but the problem with them is when I choose one of them (almost never). If I thought to choose one of them more in fighting, I would.
:4sheik:: Look at :4bayonetta:/:4ludwig:

To many characters to remember really but the most notable ones where:

:4sheik: - I originally dropped Sheik since she is quite difficult to play and back in the day I sucked beyond belief. I always played her in friendlies and for fun and I picked her back up back in February this year where I have mained her since.

:4peach: - I used for a few months, it was a good time and I definitely would have kept on with her if I wasn't so bad at the technical stuff.

:4ness: - Man I loved Ness, but the recovery was so hard to use it just wasn't working for me. :4yoshi: Was the same as well, both characters I play now for the fun times but couldn't see myself using competitively.

:4zss: - Zero was my main for a fair time, she was quite fun but something about her just didn't work for me. Always felt like I didn't know what to do or where to go with her in terms of developing my playstyle.

:4tlink::4sonic: These were my first two mains when I started playing Sm4sh competitively. I originally solo-mained Toon Link, but picked up Sonic a month afterwards. Around the time I mained these two, I wasn't good. At all. I only used spin dash 99% of the time with Sonic, and I couldn't do combos with Toon Link. Around December last year I dropped these two for

:4robinf::4lucina: These two were already secondaries, but around the time I decided to drop Toon Link and Sonic, I was doing much better against my friends and on For Glory with these two than with my mains. So, I dropped Tink and Sonic, and never looked back. I also picked up :4lucas:as a secondary, but dropped him a few days later. I pretty much mained these two for a few months, then I started playing

:4marth:I picked him up as a secondary for my Red Robin and Lucina, but eventually, I started screwing up with Robin. My Robin became so bad that a player who never used Robin before managed to beat me in Robin dittos. The shame was real. So I demoted Robin to temporary secondary, and picked up Marth. It was around this time my main and secondary crisis began.

:4cloud2: I dropped Marth and Lucina for Cloud around February because again, better results and performance with him. Didn't last long though, as I dropped him a few weeks later.

:4mario::4luigi::4mewtwo::4metaknight::4pikachu::4kirby::4diddy::4pit::4zss::rosalina::4bayonetta:(yes, prepatch):4sheik::4samus::4myfriends::4shulk::4bowser: All these characters at one point in March were either a main, secondary, or pocket. Sometimes all three. My previous mains were not excluded from this. I picked up my old mains Toon Link, Sonic, Red Robin, Marcina, and Cloud during this time. Most of mains and secondaries would end up changing after a day, and I couldn't decide at all. The only positive outcome of my main crisis was that I learned a lot about several characters, and can play them decently well if I want to.

:4corrinf:The Main Crisis finally ended in April when I chose Corrin, a character I proclaimed way back in December would be my new main. I also dual mained :4zss: to cover any bad matchups that Corrin had. Sadly, a secondary crisis began. I considered :4lucina::4marth::4robinf::4cloud2: and even demoted :4zss: to a secondary before dropping every character and going solo-Corrin. No co-mains, no secondaries, no pockets. Just Corrin.

To this day I still play :4bowser::4cloud2::4diddy::4myfriends::4kirby::4lucina::4luigi::4mario::4marth::4metaknight::4mewtwo::4pikachu::4robinf::rosalina::4sheik::4tlink::4zss: quite often, but only for friendlies and sandbagging. Otherwise, for serious play I always go Corrin.

As for Brawl, I started off with

:metaknight: Of course I did. Best character in the game, easy to pick up, only truly offensive character in Brawl. I mained MK not because I really liked the character (I do), but because I wasn't very familiar with Brawl's roster outside of MK and Sonic. Once I was, I demoted MK to secondary and now I main

:marth: He's actually a threat in this game. Now I main him with my secondaries :metaknight::sheilda:. I also have a pocket :pikachu2::diddy:as well.

:4pacman:- Used to play him alot and got wins with him but later on I just got bored with the character and felt like I wasn't using him fully.

:4bowserjr:/:4morton:- Fun at first but later down the line they felt more average and became more clunky to play as.

:4ness:- 4 words: THE BOY FROM NOWHERE. I still use him from time to time the classic backthrow is still satisfying though.

:4duckhunt:- Stopped using him cause he became boring to play as.

:4lucina:- Couldn't get her fundamentals down and was too hard to get used to.

:025:- Used to main him in Melee, used him in Smash 4 and didn't enjoy him like I used too.

Those were the people I dropped, I feel that you need to enjoy the character to really get good with them, the reason I main :4lucas::4corrinf:is because I love the characters themselves, the games they come from, and how they play in Smash.

:4sonic: Sonic?! That's a funny way to spell Spin Dash!
Seriously though, I used to love playing Sonic back in Brawl, but in Smash 4, I realized that he has the kind of playstyle that bores me so I dropped him (I still use him but not has much as before).

Ness-He was my first main in this game. He's really strong and can deal huge damage when he gets in. My interest waned after a while.
Sonic- Sonic's speed is an asset against the rest of the cast, and I really liked killing off the top with his up air. Again, interest in the character waned after awhile. In addition, my friends weren't happy about me using him.
Marth-Sword characters (in my mind) represent safe offense; they can't beat you if you don't let them get close, right? Well, I can't hit Marth's tipper that well, so I often had opponents live to high percents (which gives them more opportunities to kill me). That kind of turned me off the character, but that's my fault, not the character's.
Dark Pit- Dark Pit is the character I spent most time with and really enjoyed. He seems to be a perfect balance between offense and defense. My gripe was that I had trouble killing with him. In addition, his slow air speed tends to get me in trouble with juggling. I stopped using him before the ElectroShock Arm buff, so maybe he'll be worth a revisit.
Ryu-I decided to only use Ryu in offline matches, since delays really messes up my inputs. I still use him offline, though.

Now I'm on a mission to find a new main. I'm using Randoms in For Glory to get a feel for what characters are a good match for me.

Yoshi: First "main." I was a total scrub at the time. Realized the character just wasn't me.

Bowser: Still a scrub, was fun but his playstyle was eh to me after awhile.

Little Mac: I hate getting killed at 30, ever. Even if it happens once every ten matches it is still too much for me.

Marth, Roy: Hype died and found more suitable mains.

Greninja: Saw IStudying, super fun to watch. Still not my style though.

Tink: Fun to play but it gets old.

Sheik: I like Mewtwo better and I felt bad using Sheik since my friends kept getting angry.

Now I main Diddy and Mewtwo. These two...I like.

They're just so technical I can't keep up. They were never mains, I tried to keep them in my pocket though, but after seeing what Umeki, Kamemushi, DarkPeach, and SCATT are able to do I realized these kind of characters take more attention then I'm willing to give. I still mess around with them though.

Oh man, where do I start...
:4luigi:- Well to be fair I'm reconsidering using Luigi but that's only because of the patch awhile back. I hated how pre-patch Luigi relied on using the same exact 40% grab combo to win. Now that he involves actual skill and thinking to win. I might became a Luigi user again. But since I'm not using him now, I'll count him as dropped.
:4tlink:- I honestly don't know why I dropped Toon Link, he just didn't feel right.
:4pit:/:4darkpit:- Up-B doesn't do damage. That's literally the only reason I can think of.
:4kirby:-I'm still debating if I should stick with Kirby.I hope I do. He's been my main for so long.
:4dedede:- I wanted to be a Dedede main when the game first came out.I used him all the time in Brawl. Heck, he was the first character I played For Glory with if I remember correctly. It's just...ugh...this character really didn't age well for me. Now that I played other characters in the game, I realized how painfully slow Dedede is. I understand that's probably the entire point but he really need some some better start-up for his moves.
:4villager:-This was the character I always played as in the demo for the game, and he was my favorite of the few that was available. I don't remember what I didn't like about Villager except that Up-Smash hardly killed. (That or my memory's rusty)
:4olimar:-I used to LOVE Olimar back in my Brawl days, he was just so fun. But when I made the transition to Sm4sh, all the magic just seemed to disappear. Before I knew it Olimar became my most hated character to play as for a long time.
:4lucas:-I really wanted to main Lucas, and I still do. It's just, wow. This character is complete garbage in my hands. I can't zair to anything, I keep on spamming Up-Smash, I can't recover. I can't even PK Fire well. Honestly, the Up-B is what kills the character for me.
:4palutena:- Okay, I was saving this one for quite awhile. Mostly because I have a lot to say about this one. If you where to ask me who my favorite Smash character is if we're talking personalty, I would say Palutena in a heartbeat. She was one of my favorite characters in KI: Uprising, I absolutely loved her caring, endearing, motherly yet mischievous personalty (the fact that she was also a tutorial character that didn't want to make me stab a kitten is a nice bonus too.) I draw her all the time (it's not porn, trust me.) and...I'm...overly obsessed...over her... FINE, I'LL SAY IT SHE'S MAH KAWAII WAIFU, HAPPY?! So anyway, I really wanted to play her in Smash. And anyone who plays Sm4sh knows where this is going.
Palutena is absolutely terrible. The worst character in the game imo. And I absolutely hate playing as her. And her tilts are horrible. Don't even get me started on her tilts.

Current Mains:
:4corrinf: My main because I feel super comfortable when playing this character. Love everything about this character although it would be great if she had a faster movement speed.
:rosalina: Rosalina is the character I have taken to tournament the most... However I am always bitter sweet about her because she requires so much investment and even then,you can flop with her hard and lose entire sets if you start playing her the wrong way -- which can happen with a character that gives you so many options.

:4villager: Lastly this is the other character I give the most love. I enjoy everything about this character although it can be challenging sometimes to land that final move to end the set. Villagers recovery can sometimes get really linear and predictable... I especially dislike how his slingshot is super hard to aim against smaller characters, which limit your approach capabilities.

Characters I have tried to give love

:4greninja::4ganondorf::4dedede::4peach::4marth::4tlink::4metaknight:
All of these characters have movesets I love and enjoy. However they are missing something critical for me... That makes them lack interest for me...

Character I am looking to expand my knowledge on:

:4palutena: Palutena was actually my first main when the game came out... Everyone thought I was crazy. Somewhere along the process, I lost interest in her because I just stopped understanding her playstyle. Now, she is a character that I have grown to be more interested in day by day... While I understand her flaws, I also see a lot of potential in her.

:4dedede::4villager::rosalina::4cloud:

Dedede because while I love him he's way too exploitable by too many characters.

Villager I just couldn't get kills consistently with and ended up not really fitting my playstyle. I really wanted to main him from day 1 but in the end I just don't gel with projectile zoning characters.

Rosalina mainly I dropped because of her recovery. It's so bad and I cannot stop SD'ing. Also I hate how light she is. She's really hard to play and requires so much precision...1 mistake and you die super early. I'm just not a big fan of glass cannons.

Cloud is boring as it's mostly limit camping, and he's very unsatisfying to win with as he's clearly a bit overpowered. Especially at mid and low skill levels. His camping, plus his ridiculous hitboxes in comparison to his frame data is BS and frustrates everyone. I hope he gets a nerf, and if he does I will consider picking him up again. I'm a huge FF7 fan and wanted to play him but I really hate how they designed him to be such a lame defensive camping character in smash. Doesn't fit his FF7 character persona at all.

:4villager: I used to actually main Villager last year, but after some time I realized that he doesn't necessarily fit my play style, even though I enjoy playing projectile based characters.

:4duckhunt: I'm still trying to figure out why I was able to main him back then. His aerials are fairly decent, but his ground game is MEH. The projectiles are one thing that make him unique, but they didn't help me in the long run.

:4pacman: Oh look, a 3rd projectile character. Basically the same reasons as Villager.

I spent a good chunk of Smash 4 having a character crisis but now have a final roster of Ike and Dark Pit. R.O.B. was my first main, but I got bored with his playstyle pretty fast. Then DK, but really only ever liked him for bair, which wasn't enough to keep me interested. Didn't like Greninja's neutral, Meta Knight was overly simplistic, and Corrin's mobility felt kind of gross (although I do pull her out occasionally). But yeah, Ike and Dark Pit are here to stay, and I'd like to pick up one more character who can land with uair. I don't know why, but I just love doing that.

I had dropped Palutena, but after I saw Prince Ramen kick ZeRo's butt with her, I picked her up again. He really inspired me and made me see things in her I didn't really take into account.

:4jigglypuff:
Because unfortunately, they decided not to give her very much combo potential, and she gets utterly destroyed by so many characters it's really sad. Broken u-tilt, sing is worthless, it's really sad what they did with her and decided not to patch her for the past 6+ patches :/.

:4cloud:
Because honestly, I think he is too powerful at the moment and there's no satisfaction in winning with him honestly. I feel like I want to "earn" my wins so to speak

:4falcon: I used to main captain falcon cause he was the powerhouse I nedded, but I realized EVERYONE was mining him, so I just dropped him

:4bowserjr:.........don't get me started......

:4diddy: overrated.........

:4ganondorf: he's too slow.....

:4peach: I thought I was pretty good with peach, until I saw the potential I had with toon link

:4gaw: purely because I never got a nine in the few days I've played him, I even went in training mode to test my luck......in 5 minutes I only got 2 nines.....

When Smash 3DS Demo came out, I picked up :4villager::4mario::4link:, as starting characters.
:4mario:, basically being an easy character to pick up and learn how the game felt.
:4link:, as a LoZ fanboy, I also chose him.
:4villager:, I was super hyped when he was announced, by far one of my favorite newcomers.

After the game was released, I dropped :4mario:, and picked up :4duckhunt::4littlemac:
Duck Hunt and Punch-Out were my childhood games, and I loved those 2 characters.
(:4villager::4link::4duckhunt::4littlemac:)

I dropped :4duckhunt: because of how hard it was killing with him and :4littlemac: because I stopped being a scrub.
After 1.0.5, :4link:'s Power Bow was nerfed, I dropped him because he was my favorite customs character.

I picked up :4diddy::4miibrawl: in that time period, which are characters I still enjoy using.
(:4villager::4miibrawl::4diddy:)

I picked and dropped these characters between the 1.0.6 and 1.1.1
:4luigi::4ness::4mewtwo::4drmario::4lucas::4ryu:, also the hate on Miis made me drop :4miibrawl:

I also picked up :4metaknight::4sheik: because they were characters I used to enjoy in older Smash games, Brawl and Melee respectively.

When :4cloud: was released I grabbed him, because Final Fantasy was another series I grew up with, I originally wanted Black Mage to be it's representant, but hey, Cloud's a-ok.

:4bayonetta: was released, making me cry for the whole period of time between reveal and release. She was the character I voted for, I picked her up on release and enjoyed her, no matter all the hate, until she was nerfed, which made me bitter. Also nerfs on :4sheik::4metaknight: which are now basically counter-picks.

I dropped :4villager: maining him since the Demo, because of the lack of enjoyment I spend playing him now, just picking him for the Luigi MU that Diddy suffers.

Now I solo-main :4diddy:, and use :4cloud::4villager::4metaknight::4sheik: for his harder MUs;
:4villager: for Luigi;
:4metaknight: for Rosalina;
:4sheik: for everyone else;
:4cloud: because Cloud dittos are fun, lol.

:4falco: - Used him in 3DS Smash, back when I was one of those people who switched mains after a loss.

:4lucina: - Same reason as :4falco:

:4zelda: - For about 1 minute because I thought she turned into :4sheik: still but because I was stupid...

Secondaries:

:4ryu: - I couldn't TSRK for the life of me

:4zss: - Great character but in the end I had to go with characters that wouldn't mess up my Sheik fundamentals

Smash WiiU was hard to find a main in, I started With Rosa, and I got tired of my friends complaining. Then Lucina Because Girl Marth, Then I picked up Falcon because why not, Mained him like a year, then started playing Cloud, got tired of people complaining, then tried Fox, Wii Fit, and Greninja. Those didn't work out very well. And then I realized i dont care what my friend says he plays Lucario, so now I'm playing Sheik. I actually have 0 idea why it took me so long, since in Melee i can only play one character and be satisfied.

I mained Greninja when I first bought the game, but I just hit a point where I wasn't getting any better with him (her?), so I switched to Lucina to learn fundamentals.

Lucina lead to Marth, and Marth lead to Roy.

:snake: for obvious reasons

:4villager: Because I don't like spamming sling shot. I still use him a lot in casual play because pocketing items if fun as hell.

:4sheik:Not exactly sure why I dropped her, since she was my main at the beginning of Sm4sh.

:4miigun: I always forget about the Mii Fighters, and I built a great set of custom moves that I can't use...

:4falco: Played him a lot in Melee and Brawl, but I don't really enjoy playing him that much anymore.

:4kirby:- My loyal main from Brawl just happened to be a low-mid tier character (I tend to play Meta Knight more in Brawl now too). But he's still fun to play whenever I'm screwing around with my friends.

:4lucario:- Back in the early days of Smash 4, everyone thought this guy was a top-tier character. When I found out his inconsistencies in terms of combos and high-level results, I immediately dropped him for Mario.

:4shulk:- I enjoyed Shulk's Monado Arts mechanic, but he became less and less fun to play when I learned about his poor frame data.

(Just to prove that I'm not a tier *****, I have a G&W secondary. :p)

Oh boy...

Brawl:
:bowser2:-
I had just gotten Brawl, and was baffled at the large roster. I recognized Bowser, and enjoyed his power, so I used him for a while.

:lucas:- After my brother kept beating me with Lucas, I switched to him when he decided to main Wolf. Used him as my main until the release of Smash 4.

:zerosuitsamus:- Whenever I revisit Brawl now, I always play her. Armor shenanigans are hilarious, and she has cool combos.

Smash 4:
Dropped Mains:
:4greninja:- I had recently finished Pokemon X before he was announced, and I was so hyped for him. Used him for a while after the 3ds version was released, and could have potentially become my main if I wasn't stomped by this character in For Glory, causing me to switch to him.

:4ness:- After getting bodied by him in FG, I tried him out to see what made him so good. Now, since I was still pretty bad, Ness appealed to me as an easy to learn, rewarding combo character, which I loved. Played him for over a year before I got bored of him, and decided to try and find a new main.

:4peach:- Saw some cool tournament footage of her, tried her out, really liked her. She was really fun to play, and it always felt good to win with her. Actually started a rough draft of a Peach guide before scrapping it when I realized that however fun she was to play, I lost almost as much as I won with her. Not good.

:4zss:- Another combo character whose mobility and top-tier status appealed to me. Another character who could have become my current main if it weren't for the release of another character, who I immediately mained, and still main to this day.

Almost Mains:
:4myfriends:- Spent a lot of time learning him, and won a few matches in FG with him. One of the few heavies with a decent combo game, which I like. Still sometimes play him for fun, but the release of Cloud made me drop him.

:4link:- Also used him for a while, and won even more FG games with him. I find Link to be criminally underrated and given a bad rep by all the FG scrubs who use him. I actually didn't use him for the projectiles (dun dun dun), but for his spacing and (small) combo game. Also fun to play occasionally, but I really don't like his air game.

:4pit:- Easy to learn, good all-around character. Could have become a secondary if it weren't for other, more interesting characters.

:4lucario:- Very unique, with an interesting moveset. I was surprised at how much I like him at first, but his lackluster combo game eventually turned me off to him.

:4samus:- Similar to Link, I liked Samus's combo ability and projectiles, as well as her substantially better air game. Still fun to play, but I never consider maining her anymore.

:4lucas:- Lucas is another under appreciated character, and one I have history with in Brawl. He clicks with me, and I enjoy his playstyle. I'm still thinking about using him as a secondary, but he has competition with a couple other characters.

:4cloud2:- Like Ike, but better in almost every way. Also fun to play, but I'm just not good with him, and don't have a strong incentive in becoming better with him.

Failed the Test:
:4kirby:- Has a good combo game, but lacking in other departments. Found him difficult to win with against lighter and shorter characters.

:4shulk:- Very interesting concept, and a blast to play. However, I could never understand his combos, and I never had any idea which situations called for which Monado Arts.

:4marth:- One of the few characters I can consistently beat my friends with (besides my main/secondary), Marth is just fun to play. His playstyle, though, is not one that appeals to me, and therefore he was dropped.

:4drmario:- Wanted to play Mario, but didn't want to have the easy-bake combos. Dr. Mario has cool combos, a projectile, and a reflector. Could have been a secondary if mot for the horrible recovery.

:4bowser:- My favorite superheavy, and a character I have history with. Although better than his Brawl iteration, he was difficult to play for the same reasons as before.

Current Main/Secondary:
:4bayonetta2:- I've always been a Bayonetta fan, but I fell in love the instant I saw what she could do in her release trailer. She clicked with me as soon as I started to play her, and I started winning a lot more games with her. I didn't care that everyone hated her, I knew she was right for me. Even after the nerfs, I still do well with her and enjoy her. Bayonetta will always be my faithful main.

:4zelda:- Zelda is a character who I have enjoyed for a while, but never seriously considered using her competitively. After I rejected all sorts of other characters, I could never truly forger about her. She compliments Bayo nicely, doing well in the match-ups Bayo hates. For now, she is my secondary, but things may still change...

:4shulk:- Slow, no projectiles, and my bro picked him up. I felt the need to be a special snowflake.
:4marth:- I need projectiles.
:4myfriends:- Projectiles.
:4kirby:- Rockspamming can only take you so far.
:4tlink:- Finally, projectiles. Only problem was I didn't like his boomerang and his short sword reach. May try using him again.
:4corrinf:- Eh, I just can't figure out how to use her. Maybe I'll try again in the future.
:4bayonetta::rosalina::4sheik::4villager:- Same as above, but I won't be picking them back up.

Well, time to take a trip down memory road...again.

:4kirby: Sadly, this is fairly recent. Kirby has always been my second-in-command after :4link:. I used him to counterbalance the weaknesses Link had because the two are just about complete opposites.The more I played Link, however, the more I realized he has ways to counteract his flaws, and I practiced with him more and more until Kirby was but a distant memory to me. I tried using him in one match just for funsies and I was so rusty with him, I couldn't believe I had left him out to dry for that long...

:4fox: This was at the beginning of the game's life. I mained him in Brawl and I had liked his playstyle, and I still do, but going back and forth between him and Link can put a strain on you. Fox is so fast, turns on a dime, falls like a brick, etc...Link was much slower and had a lot more technical play, often times I would find myself unsure how to play as one or the other when I had played them for too long without giving one character a rest.

:4miisword: This one is more obvious: he just...sucks. Outright. Sometimes I could be winning with the character and suddenly I lose even the slightest bit of momentum, and next thing I knew it was GGs.

As it stands, I solo main Link right now because his playstyle is practically drilled into my head. I should probably start looking for a second main, soon.

From the beginning of Brawl, all the way through the beginning of the 3DS era, and finally ending a few months ago my favorite character was :4dedede:.

I won my first local tournament (~30 people) with 3D when our scene was still young, and had a blast knowing that my little ole low-tier hero had brought me success. However, our region started attracting people from all over the rest of the state, so when the big city talent started kicking my ass I got a bit discouraged and stopped playing him because I believed that he was the reason I was doing so poorly, and not my lack of dedication to the game. I started mingling with just about every character in the cast, but eventually settled on my main man :4robinm:.

I've played 3D in friendlies and with my roommates, but he just doesn't feel the same anymore now that I've tested the waters and found out about all the cool stuff every character can do. The sexy penguin will always have a place in my smashing heart, but most likely no longer in my victory grasping hands.

Update post. So for now, I wanted to settle for four characters. Candidates for a possible four were :4mewtwo::4pit::4feroy: and :4tlink:. So as for why I dropped them...

:4mewtwo:: I just couldn't play him carefully. Hi moveset didn't flow well with my preferred play style. Too many mistakes were punished.
:4pit:: Wasn't feeling the average character. Might reconsider though, only because of FG Samuses spamming their neutral b.
:4feroy:: I thought about it, and the way the hilt of the blade is at his strongest just didn't really suit me.
:4tlink:: I WANTED to main this guy since he was my most favorite, but I just couldn't make careful use of his bomb set-ups. It also turns out that I was more suited to :4link:, so I went and picked up Link again.
