You must have thrown a Pokeball and seen Jirachi come out of it, and then turned off the Wii before the message could pop up. All your unreceived messages stack after the load screen. I had the same thing with Ganondorf.

Doesn't WiFi also do something funny with those messages? Like, if you encounter something in WiFi that gets you a message, the message won't display until you reset the Wii?

i think this is right you must have gotten a jirachi while playing and you turned of your
brawl machine wii before you got the message
