Yea this can be a pain, but honestly all you have to do is keep practicing it. Once you develop a rhythm you'll realize when to do it and it will come natural.

U.Tilt is good for countering flying attacks

the way im looking at it you can do any ground attack out of shield by wave dashing in place and then using the move. It requires fast hands but you could do any move out of shield

Wavedash has frames that you cant do anything in at the begginning though. it would be almost as quick to just release your shield than to do it this way

Hmmm then why not just wd in shield away to utilt? lol. (or ftilt if you expect them to FOLLOW u)
