Wow Brawl is awesome. Spot dodge, spam smashes, and camp. 3 step path to victory. Whoever deviates from the path loses, and whoever stays the course wins.

You camp in every competitive video game ever made. If you spam smashes in Brawl you don't get any kills because of DR. And Spot Dodging is a legitimate defensive maneuver.

But, thanks for your excellent contribution to this thread. I'm glad you took the time out of your day.

First of all, you're welcome. Second, it is impossible to truly camp in any normal (2D or 3D) fighting game. I mean, you can try, but you'll just get mixed the **** up.

Obviously, you've never seen a competitive MVC game where they spam assists and projectiles waiting for an opening. especially with sentinel. you don't even really ever approach with sentinel

or a competitive 3rd strike game like tehis http://youtube.com/watch?v=YnEWSO6NrQo&feature=related

in the middle of their third match they barely attack each other, in fact for a good five seconds they stand still (note these are two of the very best players in the world)
Playing defensive is how you win ANY competitive video game (and almost any game/sport every)

If you watch high level UFC matches, it's the same thing too. They can be rather boring, since it's just two guys trading minor jabs, waiting for one guy to **** up spacing.

Agreed. I've never cared at all for 2D fighters (of course, except for Smash :D). I just really like Ken's bouncy, bouncy pants. However, I distinctly remember seeing this match on Youtube before. I get the idea that they just don't want to fight...

But anyway, back on topic... Brawl does seem more defense intensive than Melee mostly because the techniques in Melee were more aggressively based. With no more L-canceling and wavedashing, pros are left with... nothing. Countering and waiting for the right opportunity is really the only fighting style that gets things done in Brawl.

Or maybe I'm just talkin' out my rear. I don't understand any of this crazy game.
