Tournament Preview: Neokan Party 2

France's biggest Smash 4 event, with many top players from all around Europe! Do you believe we only have Mr. R and iStudying? Think again! Did you know there's a Ness player who's been beating iStudying every time for the past few months? Did you know Europe has yet another amazing Greninja, who also uses Pac-Man? Did you know we have a Sonic that doesn't play lame, and a great Mega Man? If you've got nothing to watch while waiting for WTFox 2, this is for you!

The tournament will be streamed on Dailymotion this time!

Europe indeed has a ton of very talented players you might not have heard of! In case you're not familiar with them, here's a quick preview of who to look out for at Neokan Party 2!

The Best of the best!

@Izitserious

Currently ranked #1 in the Netherlands
, we have S1-14!

Although he's only ranked first because of Mr. R's recent lack of attendance, S1, like many others in this list, is a strong contender for second best player in Europe. He's been consistently winning tournaments over iStudying in the Netherlands, and beating many German top players as well, such as Eddy and LoNg0uw. Together with Pikaforlife, they are said to be the strongest doubles team in Europe, with great synergy, so also watch out for that!

Note that S1-14 recently attended Albion in the UK, and Salty Arena Cup U in France, and that he failed to make top 4 both times! However, something tells me he's determined to get his revenge this time...

@RealElex

The best player in France right now!

Known for his insane clutch factor, Elexiao has been winning everything in France lately, with his wacky combination of Greninja and Pac-Man. That's right, Europe probably has the two best Greninjas in the world right now, and to be frank, it's not clear who really is the better one, since Elexiao hasn't been traveling a lot. With a Ryu at his disposal now, and the motivation to start traveling more, Elexiao is looking like one of Europe's most dangerous players at the moment.

He was the one to knock S1-14 into Losers at Salty Arena Cup, but only got 3rd at DAT BlastZone 12, a recent UK tournament, not even managing to reach Ixis in Grand Finals, with Khanage beating him to the punch! He's not one to take defeat lightly though, and aims to show he's better than that at Neokan!

@LordNaugus

And speaking of which...

Probably the most fun to watch, technical, and aggressive Sonic you will find, Ixis isn't one to sit in a corner and wait! He's been dominant in the UK ever since the game's release really, and shows no signs of slowing down. Having previously defeated the likes of S1-14 and iStudying before, he's one of the favorites to win the whole thing, especially since Europe has very few good Sonics to practice against.

If you want a Sonic that ACTUALLY goes fast, he's your guy! I'd call him another candidate for top 2 in EU, but... He's not exactly EU anymore now, is he?

@GrewardSSB

The best player in Spain ever since the game's release, pretty much!

Spain is similar to France in that they rarely travel, so it's hard to judge how they compare to the rest of Europe... But with how dominant Greward has been in his home country, and how good his results have been the few times he did travel, it's safe to say he's a very likely candidate for Top 8. Oh, and that Bowser isn't just for show, Greward will actually use him in tournament, and beat some of Spain's best with him. That's right, LordMix and D~Pollo aren't the only ones to make Bowser work on a national scale.

Pac-Man, Greninja, and now Mega Man and Bowser... When I say Europe has a crazy meta, I'm not joking.

@GlutonnySSB

That's right, the Brawl prodigy is still around!

For those unaware, Glutonny made a big splash back in Brawl, where he was most likely the best Wario in the world. He defeated Ally (at the time the second or third best in the world) at Bushido Brawl Impact, and was without a doubt the best player in Europe back then, even above Mr. R. Now playing Captain Falcon and Wario, he hasn't lost his craziness, with hard reads and weird ideas that only seem to work with him.

With Glutonny, every match has something ridiculous in it, so definitely keep an eye on the stream if he shows up, you won't be disappointed! Also yes, before anyone calls me out on that, it's spelled "Glutonny" and not "Gluttony".

@CloudRainZero

The UK brings its weather with them!

C.R.Z. (short for CloudRainZero) is widely recognized as the best Fox in the UK, and one of the best in Europe, along with Sodrek and wusi. He gave a hard time to both Homika and Elexiao at DAT BlastZone 12, but ultimately lost to them, so we'll see if he can make it happen this time. It should however be noted that he won Doubles there, teaming with Ixis to reset the bracket against the French invaders despite a 3-0 in Winners Finals.

@Marcbri

Spain's number 2 is no slouch either!

Previously a Pit main, Marcbri is one of the few players to really stand up to Greward in Spain, and one of the few to have taken sets off of him. He's also one of Europe's many, many Diddy Kongs, so the matchup should be familiar to most of the people at Neokan. He has what it takes to deal with it however, and can always bust out the Cloud if he needs to! We surprisingly don't have too many of those in France, so who knows what can happen...

@ChainGregs

The second best Sheik in the Netherlands! (Mr. R is tough competition...)

With a respectable 17th place finish at BEAST 6, and many top 5 placings in the Netherlands, Gregs is one scary opponent. He's not ranked 5th in his home country for nothing, after all. He also gets points for sporting VoiD's color and secondary, as well as being a major TO in the Netherlands.

@EVK_Griffith

Your daily dose of Smash 4 top tiers!

Sporting an already very dangerous combo of Zero Suit Samus and Sheik, Griffith also immediately picked up Bayonetta when she came out... Unlike many others though, he's one of the few who actually still gets strong results with her post-patch! With recent wins over Glutonny, Anragon, and pretty much everyone else in France, Griffith is now a top threat in the country. Getting past him won't be easy.

Speaking of Bayonetta...

Remember those talks of Bayonetta potentially being banned in Spain? You can thank this man for it. The ban never actually happened, but Rydle's short reign was nothing short of alarming. Winning pretty much every tourney he attended, and making a mess of every other Spanish top player in his path, he single handedly sparked the debate about Bayonetta being ban-worthy. That said, we haven't really seen him post-patch yet, so how he'll perform now remains to be seen, especially with his former main Sheik also getting nerfed pretty severely.

@SGPikaForLife

S1's Doubles partner, and a Pika main ever since the Brawl days!

The best Pikachu in the Netherlands makes his return, after winning Doubles at Salty Arena Cup! Interestingly, it looks like Neokan will have all the best Pikachus in Europe, aside from Miquel0123 from Spain, so it looks like Pikaforlife is gonna have some competition! Can anyone really stand up to him and S1 in Doubles though, that's the question.

@DeimosSSB4

Phogos' brother, and the number 5 player in France!

Deimos
has been a major threat in France ever since the game's release, and the same goes for his brother Phogos, formerly ranked first in the country. As you can see, he's better known for his ZSS and Ness, but he recently has been playing a lot of Captain Falcon as well, and actually won Smashdown 6 with him, defeating Glutonny in the process. His performance at Republic of Fighters was a bit lackluster though, so Deimos has a lot to prove here!

Other Top Players to watch out for!

  • Phogos :4diddy: - Ranked #2 in France, might attend, might not, but if he does, expect some great Diddy play!
  • Pefo :4sonic: - Up-and-coming Spanish Sonic, who's been taking a lot of names recently.
  • Homika :rosalina: - The best Rosa main in France, ranked #6 at the moment.
  • Khanage :4peach: - A Peach main who's been slowly making his way to the top of the UK rankings.
  • Gijsbeer :4samus: - The best Samus in the Netherlands.
  • Latzo :4pikachu:- Doesn't attend much, but always performs fantastically when he does. Best Pika in Europe?
  • Scarhi :4shulk: - Recently beat Glutonny and had a nail biting set against S1. Amazing Shulk.
  • Thomau5 :4littlemac: - Best Little Mac in the Netherlands, anything can happen with him.
  • Vanaheim :4rob: - The French "god slayer", having defeated Glutonny, Phogos and Deimos.
  • Hoe4u :4pikachu: - Not to be confused with Ho (another UK player).
  • Serew :4feroy: - Another low tier hero. Was actually mentioned in ZeRo's video as one of the best Roys.
  • Smuff :4falcon: - Captain Falcon from Switzerland.
  • Purner :4duckhunt: - One of the best Duck Hunts around, he's even beaten Phogos recently.
  • RiVer :4mewtwo: - Very good Mewtwo from the Netherlands.
  • VinS :4link: - The best Link in France, recently took a set from Deimos.
  • Soreru :4diddy: - Very good Diddy from the Netherlands.
  • Nin' :4diddy::4rob: - Diddy/ROB dual mainer. Ranked #11 in France atm.

A lot more players from Germany, Norway, Canada, Italy, the US and even Japan were interested, but sadly couldn't make it this time. Hopefully we can make it happen for Neokan Party 3 though! It should take place in early September, just a week before Syndicate. Keep that in mind if you're interested!

Don't hesitate to create a Dailymotion account if you wish to participate in the chat. Hopefully we'll be able to stream on Twitch next time, we know it's way better for everyone, we just didn't have a choice this time. Smash 4 Singles should start at around 6AM EST (13PM CEST), if all goes according to schedule.

Also note that we will have a Melee event, with top players Tekk :jigglypuffmelee:, Mahie :marthmelee:, Samplay :falcomelee:, Leon :marthmelee:, and I assume Fauster :samusmelee: attending. We'll also have Project M, with Zen :charizard:, and Rivals of Aether, with Kaos (one of the best players in Europe).

Hope that made you want to check the tourney out!
