If anyone else plans to use Lucario as I am, then I put together a bunch of information regarding his aura in the Lucario forum. Spent three hours before work testing all this stuff. Or for those of you who want to know your opponent as tacticians should, then I advise a quick gander to increase your knowledge on how to handle the cast.

Really loving Robin so far. He/she's got an interesting moveset that I enjoy greatly.

I was incredibly disappointed in the fact that Male Robin says "Let's tip the scales!" It just doesn't sound as cool when he says it.

I can only say the words "time to" so many times, which is why I carry my Female Robin!

I had an epic 10 minute fight against Lucina on Arena Ferox. LOVE that stage and the Fire Emblem characters in general. Seeing Robin, Ike, Marth and Lucina duke it out to (ID) Purpose is some incredible fan-service. I don't think that'll ever get old.

Already clocked 10 hours into the game and going strong.

If you have poor self esteem and you want to feel good about yourself, play Bowser. Everyone has a good Bowser.
Hang in there!

(Casts Restore)
Thanks. :4robinf:

Edit - Oh wow. I just got horribly rekterinos by Dr. Mario.

So I doubt I'll end up maining Robin in this game. So you probably won't see me much around these parts that much anymore, not that I've exactly been around these past couple of days anyways. Robin just doesn't fit me that well in terms of playstyle.

Female Robin says "Prepare yourself" with such a sexy accent :4robinf:
I never really considered the thought that us Californians had a particularly unique or sexy accent.

It's just so...basic. :4mii:

Given that the game is out now its probably time I move to a new social

Heya all, my names FZ/sazzy latias/latias lulu. I was a pikachu main back in 2010 from cali, and had a brief stint of being ranked before dropping off the face of the earth and being inactive. Digging the robin meta so far, super fun character, hopefully maining him/her gets easier in time since their aerial game is funky and its hard to hit with that bair sometimes.

And now back to casual talk. California accent is like, location dependent imo. some people say cool beans, others say hella all the time.

No, no, if you want basic, I'm right here. I got the newscaster non-accent. >_>
Hey, at least people can understand you. There's some wild accents out there...

Just got my first "throw a book at it"-KO in For Glory. Now I feel like a true tactician.
Time to use that Master Seal to promote to Grandmaster.

Just fought a Charizard who kept having its Fire Blitz blocked by Arc Fire... like, six times in a row. XD Fun stuff.

Everything involving Thoron and reflection/projectile influence is always hilarious to see.

Just unlocked Bowser Jr. as the final character. With Bowser. And boy was Classic mode on 9 intensity a breeze with him. finished on 8.5 only because of the clone fight at the end knocked me out on 9. For any other character, that's the easiest part of Master Core. For Bowser, it's the hardest.

Same, but I'll stick around. While I like Robin's play style, I need better controls to properly utilize them. As such, I'll wait for the Wii U version to use Robin and stick with Lucina on the 3DS.

So, any tacticians up and about and up for a bout? I'll give it a good 10 minutes or so to see if there's any answers.
I kinda wish there was an option to actually invite currently online friends into a match.

EDIT: Probably should try again at a more fitting time for yankees. :D

Anyone noticed the Vs. Lucina quotes for both Robins?

If you win a match against Lucina..
Using Male Robin, he'll say: "Lucina, I hope I didn't hurt you."
Using Female Robin, she'll say: "How can you protect Chrom if you can't protect yourself?"

What's up with that? lol

I wish were good with Robin. At least I'm good with DHD, Lucina and Bowser.
Keep at it! I couldn't control Robin properly until about a week after I first got the game. Something will eventually click!

I tried classic mode about 20 times in the Japanese version, and I couldn't beat level 9 as Bowser. However, on my first try with the American version, I got it. Woo!

Yeah, I don't see how they are bad. I had a good time playing Smash with these controls.

Apparently Lucina is very sassy herself when she beats Marth and Ike.
"THIS is the Hero King?"
"And they call you the Radiant Hero?"
Wow...

I had to get used to the controls at first, but now they feel just fine. A controller with a C-stick would be a tad bit better but it's really not that much worse.

It gets better. I'm not sure about the male Robin one, but for the female one, she says it in front of Chrom. And he just stands back to back with her, not defending his daughter.

Anyway, Robin is my main for sure. I picked her up easily. Even more easily than Lucas, actually. The only things I really had too much trouble with were learning how to Noseferatu and aiming her final smash correctly at the opponent.

My secondary, though, turned out to not be Lucina, but Duck Hunt. This character plays perfectly to my style. If one or two moves were different, he'd be even better for me than Robin (who can be a bit slow for me, but I've adapted). Another pleasant surprise was Shulk. He wasn't as much of a pain to pick up as I expected. I'd say those are my top 3 (though I have to use Shulk a bit more to see if he's second or third).

I was hoping the newly buffed Bowser would mean I could be good with him now, but nope. Bad as ever.

I haven't really gotten to use everyone yet. I did unlock everyone though, and I'm trying to beat Classic with everyone to get a feel for them. I stink with Little Mac.:4lemmy:

Robin is really enjoyable to play as, especially compared to the other sword users. It always feels so satisfying to land a hit.

I can't believe I won for a completely stupid reason.

Yeah, my Robin lacks some experience. I'll work on that.

"Fine" is not "Great", which is what the Gamecube controller is.

Yeah, I don't see how they are bad. I had a good time playing Smash with these controls.
Since when is "worse than the Gamecube controller" the same as "bad"? Just because something feels worse than something else doesn't make it bad.

Seriously, I need some human traininpartner because the AI is so MOTHERTRUCKING CHEAP. On level 9 all it does is spam projectiles, and god forbid you approach them because they can hit every move with a machine-like precision and, if the character has a countermove, counter almost all of your ****. And standing on one edge of the platform praying that they don't shield thoron till they die isn't very fun.

The AI is pretty bad at times. Is it just me, or are the computers HARDER this time around? I swear they manage to shield and dodge every other attack I use, then manage to hit me at just the right time. And I'm not even talking high level computers- I mean lower levels, too.

And don't get me started on the Flying Men. I love Magicant, I love the concept, but I swear every time a computer gets to the Flying Man first, I've pretty much already lost.

The Lv. 9 AI is stupidy ridiculous (IMO) when I fight Counter-capable characters, that's really all they do to me. All of the Counters are like point-blank so I can't even react correctly to it.

Don't get me started on Counter, either. Unlocking Lucina took forever BECAUSE of Counter, and she was my first unlock!

This is why I play Lvl 8-CPUs in order to lower the cheap A.I behaviour. However, I noticed also that if you stop trying to fight aggressively against them, they kinda lose their cheapiness. They aren't as mean approachers as the human players I met in For Glory. (Man the difficulty pinballs about there.)

Also, apparently the fighters themselves love to throw sass and salt on others' wounds. :seuss:

So... now anybody here up for a couple of matches? :3 I really wanna test my mettle against my fellow tacticians. More entertaining to play with somebody you kinda know instead of random folk.

Again, gonna wait for about 15 minutes if anybody is interested.

I second the notion that the 3DS controls are less than ideal.

It's not even like I am not used to them. I've been playing intensive action games for a while on the hardware. Just don't like the circle pad for anything that requires sudden, precise movements.

I dunno, ever after I swapped shielding and grabbing to L and R respectively and deactivated :GCU: to jump I was getting pretty cozy with the controls.
Then again I'm usually fairly easy to please unless there is some jarring issue with a controller.

This. I feel useless as lucina and robin at times because I can't space properly. C stick allowed for retreatable aerials and as robin it'd be much easier to get a levin smash aerial out by just pressing the stick. Robins bair and fair also don't hit most characters out of a rising sh meaning that as an oos option it'd need to be retreated or even waited until falling to use, which the c stick would make easier since you could retreat with it.

The tl;dr: controls aren't good, assuming people who think they are Havent experienced higher level play on a gc controller just sayin

I think the controls are okay, but a couple of things bug me. In some matches, I have a hard time launching a smash move, while in others, I can't stop smashing. I sometimes get A and B crossed in the heat of the moment, and sometimes when I go to use side/up/down B, it thinks it's just B. I also have been having trouble dashing. I don't think they're bad, but they do have issues. Still, I'm not sure how they would fix this. I guess maybe create a way to connect older controllers to the 3DS? But then that kind of defeats the purpose of it being portable.
