The Rosalina Gameplay Videos Thread

This thread will be used to contribute gameplay videos, involving Rosalina & Luma. However, make sure that all videos involve the final build of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U. If you're looking for demo and pre-release footage, go here.

You can also bring up discussions about the videos here, but please keep all discussions clean and civilized.

Note: It's recommended that you do not embed videos here. Please post links instead, as embedding multiple videos on one page can result in a lot of lag.

Good videos on both twitch channels. They give some notions about her gameplay. When I get my version I would help with good stuff too.

Hitbox Arena had a Swiss Invitational on Twitch. One of the players used Rosalina, among other characters. I'm almost certain I missed some, I recall some Rosalina v. Villager and more Rosalina v. Bowser Jr. gameplay that I couldn't find. (EDIT: The reason being that it was a separate stream entirely, durr.)

Swiss Round 1: Dabuz (Rosalina) v. Max Ketchum (Bowser Jr., King Dedede) (Audio balance out of whack here, commentators are hard to hear.)
Swiss Round 4: Nairo (Robin) v. Dabuz (Rosalina, Little Mac)
Winners Finals: Zucco (Megaman, Lucario) v. Dabuz (Rosalina)

It's nice to see one person successfully use her Gravity Pull. Great post!

So I entered a Smash 3ds tournament recently that was surprisingly held at Tipped Off 10 (GA's biggest Melee and Project M tournament) and I have some decent Rosalina 1 vs 1 videos for you guys. I haven't played her since the Best Buy Demo months ago and I managed to play very well imo. If you guys don't mind I was hoping I could get some critiques/opinions on what I should improve on.

Btw I lost my first round against a good Lucina player (single elimination tournament; no losers round), but I didn't feel too bad because I lost to Master Raven, a very good Mewtwo player who ended up 2nd place in the Project M tournament (behind Wizzrobe, also shoutouts to Master Raven for very intense games) and he knew how to play right off the bat. Sadly, those matches were not recorded :(. Anyway here's the link to the streams that recorded my matches. I wanted to paste the links that'll take you straight to my match in the 6 hour video but idk how to do that, so instead you have to scrub through the long video to find it apparently. But don't worry, I'll type down the time where my matches started against each character.

Here's the link to the stream where my matches happened:
http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062

Vs :4kirby: (Idk his name sadly) at 5:35:29

Vs :4yoshi:(Kip) at 5:42:40

Vs :4sheik:(Ojama; my sister ) at 5:49:15 (WHY DIDN'T LUMA RETREAT!?)

Vs :4diddy:(Player-1) at 6:34:30 (Poor Diddy at game 1)
The 3rd game continues at http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570931031

I did so many more but apparently they were not recorded as far as I know of. Nevertheless, thanks so much for the help!

@ Neos Neos : For future reference, you can manipulate your twitch video link so that it starts playing at a specific point. For example...

http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=335m

The link above has "?t=335m" added, which will make your video begin right at 5:35. That'll allow you to completely skip the stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with Rosalina.

Okay I revised it.

Vs :4kirby: (Idk his name)
http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=335m28s

Vs :4yoshi: (Kip)
http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=342m17s

Vs :4sheik:(Ojama; my sister )
http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=349m17s I have an important question regarding this match at the bottom

Vs :4diddy:(Player-1)
http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=6h34m31s The 3rd game continues at: http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570931031 (Awesome Luma Gimp at the end!)

I also have an important question regarding what happened in the fight against Shiek. At http://www.twitch.tv/vsgc/b/570817062?t=349m17s I pressed the B button to call the Luma back to me FOUR times and it completely ignored Rosalina! I wanted to use the Luma as a shield to get through the needles, but obviously gravitational pull was a much better option. So anyone have any ideas why the Luma didn't retreat back to me at all?

Also critiques and advice would be nice.:p

That salt on the Diddy gimp.

Better timestamp for the Luma oddness.

Anyway, I think I figured out what happened with Luma vs. Sheik. Luma at the time was not manually sent away from Rosalina, but it was knocked away in its helpless state for a bit. I believe that Luma technically being in its "linked to Rosalina" state but physically separate resulted in Luma Shot thinking it needed to recall Luma.

The question then becomes why Luma didn't rush to your side once it was out of tumble state since that's what it's supposed to do when linked to Rosalina, and I think the reason for that is because Sheik kept peppering you with needles and putting you in brief hitstun. Luma may wait until Rosalina is out of hitstun for some period of time before rejoining her. This is mostly speculation though.

I see what you mean. Although, there were some times when I pressed B for Luma to retreat, Rosalina fully finished waving her wand (her retreat animation) without getting needled. Oh well, I'll figure it out when Smash 3ds comes out for us in North America.

Japanese tournament videos. They're also on Twitch here but I find the individual Youtube mirrors easier to manage so here they are. Player names taken from the Reddit thread that first posted them, apparently Rain is a pretty good Brawl player so he may be someone to watch for future Rosalina tech if he sticks with her. Also note the Jigglypuff shield break countdown, I think that's a really fun way to deal with the janky spectator mode that often ends up having to be used.

C (Rosalina) v. Shu (Sheik)
Rain (Rosalina) v. Yukke (Wario)
Rain (Rosalina) v. Abadango (Pac-Man)
Rain (Duck Hunt) v. Ale (Sheik, Rosalina)

I found some Smash Run gameplay of Rosalina:

She's surprisingly good at it (I was worried she'd be awkward to use in it). The stat boosts make losing Luma MUCH less of a deal, Luma seems pointless to shoot out once you boost Rosalina up a bit (though Strong Luma Shot seems REALLY useful in this mode). And while it wasn't shown here, I'm thinking that if you get a lot of Speed and Jump, Rosalina can effectively fly across the stage since she is so floaty, and can use Launch Star for that extra boost.

Also I think increasing the Special stat makes Luma Shot travel faster and/or further (though it could just be a misjudgment on my part due to the difference in camera angle from a regular game).

I had a ft10 with FOW last night. Here's a link: http://www.twitch.tv/m/632090

First 4 matches are with megs, i switch to rosalina around the 5:04:00 mark.
I think you could've brought it back. Your Rosalina is not bad at all, but good games though, really enjoyed them. On a special note, we can easily gimp Ness with the Gravitational Pull when he's trying to recover as long as we're not too close to him. :chuckle: This should be mentioned in the Match-Up thread once it opens.

Yeah i feel confident in the ness mu vs fow, he just was more clutch when it mattered and that got him the wins that made the difference. I'm ready for the mu thread loll I have a few I feel I know fairly well already.

I've started up a channel for Smash videos, going to post the occasional match once in a while. Currently going through my replays and posting noteworthy stuff.
I'm also working on a montage that highlights mainly Luma kills and flashy things like down-air spikes and stage-bounce kills for entertainment purposes, so if you're into that stay tuned.

I also want to stream some For Glory on my Twitch channel, I'm exclusively playing Rosalina & Luma as of now, so drop by once in a while if you want some live gameplay.

I still have all of my replays, so if there are any specific matchups you want to see, I can upload them if I have them.

Videos from Smash 4-Ever #3, according to the titles, aka Dabuz still rocking Rosalina.

False (Sheik) vs. Dabuz (Rosalina)
Nakat (Fox) vs. Dabuz (Rosalina), Winner's Finals
Nakat (Ness, Little Mac, Fox, Sheik) vs. Dabuz (Greninja, Rosalina), Grand Finals

Dabuz is using the Shooting Star Bit custom here and shows off some interesting tech in general. Luma's downward angled fsmash is god tier for dealing with ledge campers due to the new mechanics. Up angled fsmash can hit through the Battlefield platforms. Usmash avoids PK fire at one point as Rosalina lifts herself off the ground. Short hop Shooting Star Bit (aka "Luma Lasers") avoids Sheik's needles while still allowing for return fire. Also, turns out that star bits (or at least Shooting Star Bit) can be absorbed by PSI Magnet. Something to keep in mind for the Ness matchup.

And the commentators still don't know the name of Gravitational Pull, lol. But they're fun to listen to otherwise.

Also, some of the Twitch links in the OP seem to not work anymore, may be worth going through them real quick and pruning them out.

I've put up a small montage/"combo" video, I thought this would be the most appropriate place to share it:
