took me long enough to finally get around to this.

first off, yagi's great. not only is his name josh, he has smash stamina. heh, me and him are like smash porn stars, we just won't stop. great times that night. next time around we should just see who can stay up the longest. **** the tourney, just come in and see who can play smash the longest before passing out in a frothing rage.

chris was awesome, as well. he's one of the coolest people i've met. i had a good time just hanging around with him. and his special buddy was great. you shouldn't have returned him, you should have kept him as your mascot for the tourney. and congrats for sending jeremy to the losers bracket as well. i heard you also sent caveman down there to be eliminated by mike g next. (*******!) look forward to seeing you next tg.

geo- i mean silly fox, was great to watch. he'd just go on this crazy combo to kill spree, then suicide twice and lose the match. the funniest thing i saw was him and brooks against a double peach team on fourside. they managed to get through the garden spamming to the other side of the main tower and then started trying to kill each other. man, that was a laugh and a half.

john, remember, i still have those five bucks waiting for you... SYNCHRONIZE, MAN! SYNCHRONIZE! before tg i was wanting to pick up falcon because knee just looked like too much fun, but after watching you i knew i couldn't do **** with falcon. it just takes too much craziness to do tha stuff. keep it up, man. SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!

the doug... man... i remember me and silver trying to just get you to one stock in friendlies friday night. i knew you were good, but i didn't think you were crazy good. heh, your counterstages are also great. mkI? who would pick that? heh heh...you're another one of the many many people i don't want to have to play EVER in a tourney.

and eddie... [shakes head] poor guy. bobombs are such crap, especially when they're not moving and then decide to hit you as you jump up and don't attack. your ganon was definately a favorite to take singles. you're a crazy marth killer, man. keep it up and keep up the crazy waterfall rock antics. which side you gonna land on? who knows? who knows?

overall, probably the best moment was when cc put deezie to sleep. the look on his face as he came to afterwards was just pure comedic gold. now you just have to face your fears and you can become a true tournement god. just don't do it like scamp and crack your own jaw on the ground. that hurts.

man, that's all that pops into my head right now. i'm still in tg lag mode, i might post later with more stuff, but don't count too much on it. i just know i'm gonna try my ****dest to make next tg.

Jet lag

Right, got back home 2 days ago and spent those days very messed up by a combination of jet lag, sleep deprevation and a cold. But I'm finally back posting up my thoughts.

TG 5 was without a doubt the best tournament I've ever been to. For starters there where many skilled people there. There where some insane matches and it was a really intense tournament all around. But appart from the actual tournament itself there was great atmosphere, especially among the out of staters. The days before TG and eventually also during TG all the out of staters got along very well for the most part. And it was just a lot of fun hanging around with you guys. During the tournament itself the atmosphere was great too. As far as I know no one was booed. Although it was pretty clear that Azen didn't get as many cheers as most people he still got an aplaus every time he won, wich is how it should be. Also, Ken had a huge number of people cheering him, unlike at TG 4. The fact that there was a lot more room for people to watch matches also helped greatly. And led to huge cheers whenever something crazy happened.

Right, on to how I actually did in the tournament. I did horrible. I was so outclassed by most people most of the time that the tie for 25th placing I got is probably a pretty accurate one. But I did find out the thing that is keeping me back from being really good. My game is not stable enough. There are moments where I'm doing really good and am pulling crazy stuff out of my ***. If I could play like that all the time I'd have a good shot at even making top 10. But that's the exact problem, I'm not able to play like that all the time. Most of the time I'm just mediocre at best. Now I'm not going to use this as an excuse for why I lost, because it is my fault for not being able to get over this problem. But now that I've been able to actually point out this problem in my game I'll be able to work on it and hopefully be a much better player for TG 6 (wich I fully intend to attend)

On to other stuff.

Matt - You are badass. Not only are you the main guy behind the whole tournament but you also oppened up your house to people traveling. So a big freaking huge thanks to you. It would not have been possible without you.

The entire TG crew - You guys put in so much effort into TG and some of you didn't even play in the tournament. So I think everyone that attended owes you a huge thanks for doing so much for so little reward. Thanks!

Vien - Thanks for letting me stay at your place again. I probably got in more sleep then most people because of it. Your sofa really is the most comfortable sofa I've ever slept on :D

CORY - The Heartless *******s rule! Even though we didn't make it through the pools I still had a great time teaming up with you. And dispite our results I still think we made a **** good team. And appart from that it was as badass as ever to hang around with you. Now let's get out some marshmellows!

Eddie - I was rooting for you man! Your Ganondorf is awesome and I still think you had a solid shot at top 5. It just didn't work out that way. I played you a lot in casual play and didn't beat you once so I can solidly say you are better then me. I hope to see you next time.

Ken - Congratulations on tacking the tournament! I think you are still simply the best there is so first place is well deserved. You are way beond what I'm capable of beating and it showed in how you disposed of me with ease in out money match. It was a great match though and I learned a lot from it. Also good to see a lot less hostility between you and the rest of the community. I hope to play you again next TG.

Isai - The thing I regret most about this TG is not playing you. I meant to but it didn't seem to work out that way. You where definitly the most spectacular to watch. Hopefully I'll get a shot at you next TG.

Jeremy - Either you where really out of it the morning of the 1 vs 1 tournament or you have some strange weakness for my style. Because from how you and I did against other people there should be no way I should be able to even take one match against you, yet I did. But regardless of why I did good, our money match was still a good set. And it looked like you got over your Zelda problem since the last time.

Wes - You are the best Samus player I have ever faced, period. And I have faced plenty of Samus players. If I hadn't gotten lucky with the homerun bat the first match you would have just beaten me 2 matches in a row. And I really never want to play you on FD again, that was horrible. I was gone in 48 seconds.

Sam - You gave me the worst beat down I've had. Beating me 3 times in a row by a huge margin. I can't beat you and you made it perfectly clear. Still I'm happy I challanged you and I learned a lot from our matches. Maybe I'll give it another shot at TG 6.

Rori - Man, your Pikachu is crazy. After playing you I really have to rethink my oppinion of the little rat. I still hate the rat off course but now I don't think he sucks horribly anymore.

Florida - You guys where great to hang around with. And you where all pretty good as well. I hope we'll meet again at TG 6.

Derrek - For someone who has no competition whatsoever you where **** good. What the **** is your secret? Just play 24/7 or something?

Sirus - You are one of the most funny people I have ever met. You really added a lot of humor to TG. And our Mewtwo vs C. Falcon money match on Hyrule was great two. It payed for my breakfast :D

I've got more people I want to say stuff too but the **** jet lag is keeping me from posting any further. Jet lag and sleeping disorders are not a good combination I can tell you. I'll finish this later.

I'm going to do my write-up when I get back from Evolution. However, I just wanted to ask who it was that expressed their dislike for my avatar. I forgot who said that they hated my avatar at TG%.

Well, the good news is I'm probably going to change it soon! So watch for that.

Hein- both me and my parents will be gone for the weekend, so if you want to get the camera back, you will have to either get it tomorrow afternoon, or I will just have to mail it to you. Mailing it will probably be the easiest. Give me a call tomorrow to figure things out.

addendum to my post:

i wanted to say this to jon from washington at the end of my last post, but i forgot. and i think he knows why.

Jon: don't worry. we all experiment. In fact i like to hold discovery sessions every weekend. mary jane might seem like your best friend the first decade or two, but after that, i mean it's time for a wife and job. and there you are, sitting on your mom's couch in the basement, wondering why you can't understand why the toilet bowl flows in the opposite direction in different hemispheres. just don't make it a lifestyle, sammit!

Well, I think I'll just start off by saying I had a great time. There were alot of things I wanted to do but didn't have the cash for, but we'll be headed down to Cali in November (for a friends ultimate frisby), hopefully hit a bi-weekly or two. And get some more poker in (I heard there were alot of bad beats).
I could make alot of excuses for how I played, but, if there's one lesson to be learned at TG... NOJOHNS.
What happened to the battle of the Jeremy's? And is someone going to post the results of the challenges?

CORY: Synchronizing feels so good. It has to be the right moment though, so even I don't know when it'll happen, but I'll be sure to give plenty of warning. I can only imagine how someone doing it to me would mess with my game.

Chris: sorry about the driving, I felt like an ***.

Sam: ... huh?.... why I have no idea what you're talking about ;-).

A big TG thanks to Matt, Scamp, Eddie, Wes, Hein, Derrick, Isai, Crystal City and everyone else.

Lalo regret

dang the TG% was awesome and all but i regret not hanging out with people like i did at tg4. The biggest difference was that i had to work the days right before and after the tourney. also, on the actual tourney day i go into tourney mode: either analyzing matches or sleeping. So yea, if you felt like you were being ignored It was just me being dumb.
The time that i did spend hanging out with people wAS great though.
Tony- you're good at poker.
Everyone else- you're awesome, that match we had was insane.
cyrus- Rob told me a secret about your lifestyle, don't worry, i'll keep it a secret.

Too bad you couldn't make it down, Wes, (East) Wes had the craziest Samus I've ever seen. If you're still using Samus as your main you coulda picked up a lot from him. I never play Samus and even I was impressed by all his tricks.

Anyways, I'm sure you guys woulda got along fine, most everyone from the boards did. You're both cool in person so hopefully you guys can make it to the next one.

Are detailed results ever to be posted? Unless I'm missing something they haven't. I want a little refresher on how everyone did. I've checked ssbmofo and this thread and haven't seen any rankings or brackets from TG% except those in the first post. There's no rush, but it has been over a week.

Yes Lumbro, that's a good point. I'm sure we're all really apprehensive for these brackets to come up. Is there like a rough estimation as to when these will come up, or is it up in the air at the moment?

they will be up, just dunno when. I havent even unloaded my truck yet. It takes a good chunk of time to get all that in computer format, and Im working like a mofo right now. I have massive OT for the next week or so, hopefully I can get them up after that.

The bigger issue is if I am going to be able to do the dvd. My time is extremely limited, and that thing takes ages to make. I would like to do it, cause i need the money for the next place, but as of now, i just dunno how i can.

Lol guess I pissed off rob somehow oh well I don't have time to count every mark agianst me.... A secret you say reciph? Does it involve a pound of ramen? Drawing a blank but if it's funny why keep it a secret? I've got a sense of humor unlike poor robby boy. Try readin a book kid.

I'm not sure if it will, but I'm sure a majority of NorCal would be willing to help put it together if need be any way we can (I know I would). Perhaps a gathering over a couple weekends would be in order to pull it off.

**** YOU CIRUS

FIRST OFF I WILL CATCH CIRUS' Attention by doing a tricksies.

Noticed the black guy. Cirus likes it!!!!! Now after cirus check out the black guy he reads my post "TRICKSIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Once again you have succeded in saying the gayest thing possible. "TRY READING A BOOK KID" what the **** is that only a ****** would say some **** like that. Another one of your gay quotes would be this.......... Fango told you playing around "LETS GO GET SOME SAKE" you said "UNLIKE YOU I LOVE MY BRAIN" that must of been the gayest response ever. Another thing i got a badass sence of humor. Ask anyone i would always be laughing. RIght now as i type this i am laughing. **** about 75% of the time i spend in san jose i was laughing. We joke around all the time. Oh yeah another one of your gay quotes is "Does it involve a pound of ramen?". RAMEN? shut the **** up. seriously only a ****** would think like that.So i end this post by saying **** you and try being straight.

I realized I hadn't posted a darn thing here yet...

Sirus- You are effing wonderful. Just when I was beginning to feel a little down about my Little Wonder Boy, you come along, partner with me, and we strike a mighty blow to fellf Linxamus. Several other solid teams felt our bite as well- even D.A. got taken down to the wire on their own level. We did a little worse against El Chocolate Diablo, but meeh... considering that Samus died out at around a minute-fifteen and Ness around four-thirty... FIGHT, NESS, FIGHT! YOU CAN DOOOOOO IIIIIIITTTT! The king of clutch strikes again! Heh, if there's anything I know, it's the 2 on 1. You can thank Pat and the others of my play group for that one.

Next TG, there's gonna be a number of teams to fear. Ken and Isai. Wes and Hein. Jeremy and Adam. Sam and Dave... Locke and Sirus? Heh, it could happen...

Rori- Heh, ya took the crown of the rat. I kinda wish I'd played you about four months sooner- if ya had, I might have stuck out Pikachu instead of looking for another and eventually settling in on Ness. Still, that jump-cancel stuff is still helping me, in a different way...

Anden- Soooo close. Had my dash cancel actually canceled my dash, I would have been going on to face Ken instead... then again, maybe perhaps it's better that you did win. 'sides, Little Wonder Boy still served me well in climbing for a while in Losers. I strayed from him after Cava spanked him and forced me to other methods, but in retrospect, I probably shoulda returned to Ness for Rori. Ah well, to late now. But we had the first crowd pleaser of the day, and that, my friend, is something special indeed. I look forward to a rematch at TG6.

Silver, CORY- I only got one thing to put here.

*points* BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

No hard feelings for the following cord strangulation, though. You guys were still cool, even after the incident in the pools, and were definately among my highlights for the trip. Better luck next time, though. :p

Florida- You guys as a whole were great fun. Matt, though... dude, sometimes, if you find yourself getting hit a lot by your teammate, you gotta stop and think "Were they fighting with someone else and I just run INTO that beating I recieved by my partner?" Cause I hadn't seen anyone get that murderized by their partner since Pat's Ganondorf butchered my poor Luigi way back at TG1... :p

I hope everyone who I taught One Hot Minute to will pass it on to their friends and groups, as did Dave pass it on to me. That game will slowly leech it's way into the hearts of Melee gamers nationwide.

See ya all at TG6. Until next time, this is Locke, you're number #1 voted fan-favorite since TG4, signing off!

Results?

Results? The happenings are fading from memory. I won't say another word about it though.

EDIT: Last time I'll be a pain. Really. I swear.

I've been working a lot lately, and sitting down and converting a 128 man bracket to my computer hasn't been appealing for me to do in my lack of free time. My truck is actually still loaded with a bunch of crap from the tournament. Tack onto this frustrations with not knowing what to do about the dvd, bascially Ive been blocking TG out of my mind for the last month. Heh heh. I should get to it sometime in the near future though.

I think the guy was actually wanting a more complete results. You know, like the full bracket or something.
