Funny. I like it because it's NOT an RPG. Personally, I'm not a fan of RPGs (although I did enjoy TTYD, and Pokemon has always been OK in my book), so SPM was the perfect Paper Mario for me.
And I definitely understand your point, but I feel like there are already a lot of sidescrolling modern day Mario platforming games, and that it was unnecessary to change the series's formula. They could've done the thing like the Bump Attack badge in TTYD that just skipped the battles for certain foes. Idk. I'm sure this isn't the thread for the discussion anyway

I hope there's a Mii round soon. I've got an awesome idea for it

Edit: I apparently wrote Mii. I meant Metroid. Wherever the hell Mii came from I have no idea.

Wow despite the playability factor (which honestly, wasn't my top priority), I got quite better scores than I expected. I know I basically oversatured the stage with hazards but the goal of this entry was just to show how a simple walk off stage like this from a Paper Mario game (which let me remind you has a series of infinite potential) can be so diverse. Of course I could've toned down the stage (like removing enemies or be more specific towards the random aspect) but that wasn't my goal. If I ever had to make a true stage for it, I would take this as a reference and try to adjust what is needed that what isn't. It is walk off but it wasn't designed to be a competitive friendly stage (and will never be imo).

TL;DR your comments are just and even better than what I expected but the cons of the stage was almost intentional. What I wanted to do is put these ideas on the table so that people that would read this would realize HOW MUCH potential it has but the readers has to figure out for themselves HOW to implement it.

And also, just to give you an idea: I f I even toned down the hazards, I would have almost got a perfect score and my chance of winning would have been high. It's just a matter of HOW here and I simply wanted to talk about the HOW MUCH and let the reader figure out the HOW.

I'm considering putting this in the Paper Mario thread op (not the comment but the entry) because I feel more confident to do so thanks to your comments.

Grats to the winners! I'm not surprised with my score, I knew it was a little bland. Maybe next time we can get the grades a little sooner? :p

Is it too late to enter for Round 8?

Here's my stage.

Then it transforms into something like this.

I'm still thinking about it.

(Wow, what a coincidence. We do a Mario Wii U stage and we get a Mario Wii U stage revealed.)

What's our next round?

When does the next round start? The Mario round started the day after the Wario round's results were posted.

Round 9:

Fire Emblem for 3DS

Anything can change in this round! It's time to Awaken a Blazing, Sacred, Radiant power within you and submit the exalted stage that will banish the Fell Dragon and bring peace to the nations! (Or at least win the contest.)

Curses! A series I know nothing about! Better study up on Fire Emblem for a couple of days...

...eh, screw it. Good luck to the other contestants, but I'm bowing out on this round.

Hmm. I've never played a Fire Emblem game, though I've been meaning to. Will study up and hopefully contribute a worthwhile stage.

A stage on Grima's back, with the Shepards and Grimleal duking it out. With Grima!Robin as boss.

This does not bode well for this round.
Perhaps so. I'd encourage anyone to contribute this round (and any round for that matter), whether or not you know a lot about Fire Emblem. Personally, I think an outsider's perspective on the series would be pretty interesting to see.

I'd like to not have a repeat of the Wario round, but if it comes to that, then you'll all get no sympathy from me.

BAD CONTESTANTS! HOW HAVE YOU NOT PLAYED AWAKENING?
I've been wanting to, it's on my list. The wife says I can't buy as many video games as I'd like to. Recently it came down to if I wanted Awakening or Mario Kart. I made a choice...

Anyhoo, here's my entry.

Bern Keep (From Fire Emblem Binding Blade)

Before I begin, I'm going to reiterate that I haven't played any Fire Emblem games, so I apologize if I get any terminology incorrect. Also, spoilers.

This stage takes place outside of the Bern Keep, where Roy triumphs over King Zephiel in Binding Blade.

The stage at first appears fairly benign. Just an uneven patch of land with two stationary platforms floating above. The castle in the background is merely aesthetic. Clouds in the sky very subtly shift around, with the occasional lightning bolt to add to the location's foreboding.

Here's where the stage gets interesting.

In the game, Bern is a country where wyverns are native, thus the Bern army utilizes many Wyvern Riders to ensure their security. Every now and again, a Wyvern & its rider will fly by serenely overhead. If a player is to jump atop the wyvern's back, it can safely go across the map up high where it's harder to be reached (Think the Arwings in Corneria in Melee). However, if anybody attacks the wyvern, the rider atop it will bring forward their spear and the wyvern will fly in a straight line, very fast, off screen. If you are hit with the rider's spear in this fast-moving-time, this results in a meteor smash, which can obviously be deadly on the sides of the map. And if you're riding the wyvern at the time, well, hopefully you've got good reflexes or you might be getting carried off the screen to a KO.

The wyverns come by infrequently, they're certainly not always around.

Unlockable? Yes, let's say when a certain redheaded Lord is unlocked...

I hope that I've done okay with my very small amount of knowledge on the source material. I admit I chose Binding Blade for no other reason than that Roy was my main in Melee, and if that loses me popularity points, so be it.

I'm gonna get around to playing an FE game soon, I promise!!

Edit: I've updated the pictures to look a little more like what I'd like it to look like.

Good luck reading my writing

You need to write a more detailed description of your stage :/
It would be a large sized stage, with it taking place on his body and wings like the Venom stage in Melee. There would be no platforms, and no walks offs. Harzards would be attacks from the Grimleal and the Shepards (Not including Lucina or Robin). And Grima!Robin would be a stage boss.

Name of Stage: The Place of Sacrifice
Game of Origin: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Description: (Look at image below for reference)
A platform not unlike Battle Field or Final Destination surrounded by pillars (not interactive) behind the stage there are soldiers fighting and you can see
Emmeryn
being led to the ledge of the rock formation (seen at the top right of the image) I'd like it to be more of a emotional/immersive stage rather than colorful/fun/exciting. Perhaps the stage could move itself across the battleground showing familiar faces fighting soldiers (as previously stated).
Gimmicks/Hazards:
Stage could lower itself unto the ground (center-right) when
certain someone plummets to her "death"
At the end of this part map, the background could transition to Chapter 10s in game map and stay there.
Unlockable?: Unlockable if FE:A rep makes it into the game and is locked (Unlocking FE:A rep unlocks this stage)
Extra: I think I focused on visual effects for the Description / Gimmicks, but to summarize in like a sentence.
Map starts circling the battle around the map in Chapter 9 (image below) after a certain "something" happens, the background fades away and reveals the battle that occurs in Chapter 10 of the FE:A story. (Mustafa)

Chapter 10 Area - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKG4Qi-CKhY

I don't know if they could just pluck it out of the game and make it fit with Smash Bros hectic play style (unless you're playing competitively, which I believe most of the players on Smash Boards do) but I think it'd add to the atmosphere of said stage wonderfully.

I just want an excuse to listen to that beautiful piece "Don't mock my Sister's words!" while playing Smash Bros

Look at the other two entries, your format should be kinda like that, reference images help a lot too and detailed description of the hazards and stuff, and to tell the truth, my pick would either be Grima's Back or Dragon's Table.

Name of Stage: Flames on Blue Sea

Game of Origin: This stage originates from FE:A. It’s based on Chapters 12 and 14, combining a few of the elements.

Description: This stage takes place on a dock and the front of two ships. The platform in the middle stretches back into town, where an epic battle rages. The ships on both sides are packed and ready to take off – as long as The Avatar wins the battle. On this stage, many of the characters from FE:A can be seen in the background, battling against those who appose them. There are no stage hazards, the fighting happens purely in the background as an aesthetic element. Here is a diagram:

Gimmicks/Hazards: There are no hazards on this stage. The ships rock a little bit, but nothing major.

Unlockable: Yes. To unlock this stage you must win 10 team battles as the blue team.

Really epic stage! I just think it needs a little something...at least on the background...or on the foreground of the ships...

Hmmm, this is probably a good round for me to take a sabbatical.

Loving the entries thus far, though!

Well, he did actually MAKE a stage instead of just diagrams

Maybe this round could just be for who gets second place? :awesome:
Sakurai's entry is pretty but I think I still prefer Radical Beam's design lol
