Can someone explain why the pmdt nerfed characters that weren't even considered near top-tier by anyone?

Note: I'm not talking about fox

Edit: my phone autocorrected nerfing to needing in thread title

cuz some designs did not make any sense, Link was a crap character in 3.02 but his boomerang was better than even whole characters. everything needed to be normalized because making "everyone like fox" wasn't working out in terms of making better chars or even having fun.

He has Kirby in mind. People could argue he was bottom tier but he got nerfed unjustly, lmao. If anything Kirby needed help

Kirby's nerfs are so minor, meanwhile he got a nice usmash buff too. Of all the characters to complain about, Kirby?

just because something is deemed as "bad" does not mean it should be immune to changes

See our 3.5 blogpost:
http://projectmgame.com/en/news/dev-blogpost-7-trimming-the-fat

As previously mentioned with our recovery blogpost, please note that this stems from design, and not necessarily balance. Our overview of the cast is a global one, and characters will receive due consideration regardless of current perceptions of their viability. As such, it is important to consider your character's changes within the scope of our goals for version 3.5, as opposed to viewing their changes in a 3.02 vacuum.
