For a chibi-robo stage they could make a tour stage where you go to the various rooms in the saunderson house

In the living room you would fight on couch

The garden you fight on the ground and swing would also act as a platform

In the kitchen you'd fight on the work surface and in the sink

In basement the battle would take place on the small planks of wood and the old birdcage

In the foyer you could fight on the bottom of the stairs and small fountain thing on the top floor

The bedroom's battle would simply take place on the bed

And in Jenny's room you'd fight on princess pitt's castle

Surprised no one here's discussing the tomodachi collection stage.
I have a feeling that the walls will fall apart at some point in battle, widening the stage (similar to shadow Moses island and the PSASBR Parappa stage.)

That's probably because this is the Wii U forum.

Personally I'm thinking It'll be the apartment block sliced so you can see into the rooms as you fight in the hallway. (that blue part of the floor) There'll be multiple floors and possibly elevators.

I really do wonder what stages we'll see for Captain Falcon, Ness and Fox. They haven't had any games recently to base a new stage on, so i assume we'll just get a different random arena from their perspective games?

I like this new stage, looks much less claustrophobic than Mushroomy Kingdom.

While of the top of my head I don't think it's been done before, I still don't think the idea of spawning enemies midbattle would work well in non-item matches.

Well, here WAS enemies in normal battles in Melee at times. ^^ On very rare occations, Redeads and such would spawn in Crates. But yeah, I guess. Though, Goombas would just be simple to jump on. ^^

Took me a while. I think it's pretty balanced. The only rule was 50 stages per version, 15 of which are remake. So, 70 new stages and 30 remakes (34 if you count Battlefield and Final Destination). I kept shared stages to a low (just the aforementioned two and Boxing Ring as announced as far), but many of them can share the layout. For example, Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road, being both in part based on Mario Kart, can essentially be the same stage with different backgrounds. Technically, I think it would be easy to even take two stages from two different franchises like Garden Of Hope and Yoshi's New Island and use the same layout changing the visuals.
Some franchises appear only on the home console version (Xenoblade Chronicles, Wii Fit, NintendoLand, Pilotwings), some only in the handled (Tomodachi Collection, Find Mii, Nintendogs, Ice Climber), as far as new stages go.
I tried obviously to keep portable games' stages on the 3DS and home console's games' stages on 3DS, for example in the Zelda series, but not so strictly.
I think I got a couple of interesting choices there, and I would be incredibly fine with this list. Hoping at least we reach 80ish stages in the end between both versions.

I based the stage selection on this roster I made previously:

Nice stages, Oolong is the same as the Glitzpit correct? I loved that chapter.

I see Paper Mario, Villager, and PT. You sir have my top 3 characters :bee:

Time to point something out about today's filler which might have been expected, but we now have confirmation on. Smshville does indeed rotate the background characters watching the fight. Up until now it's always been the same three characters, and time has been frozen. We now know for sure they rotate out.

One thing ive been thinking about lately, is what if not every character or series gets a stage? I know many dont want to think of it like that, but for the series that have gained nothing since brawl they would probably have to resort to past games. And in ice climbers case they dont have much, i think in the scenario that every character doesnt get a stage that they might use the brawl stages they had as the retro stages as their representation in this game. Just a thought, but it could be a possibility for some series if they dont intend to create a new one for each one.

The 3DS version has 3 misc stages (Nintendogs, Find Mii, and Tomodachi Collection). So far the Wii U has 1 (Wuhu Island). What will the other 2 be? I bet Nintendoland will be one of them. That leaves another one...

What do you think?
Very cool. 43 + 10 stages.

Might I ask what games the following stages come from:

-Ruined City
-Living Room (Chibi-Robo?)
-Stargazer Tower

In addition, there is a stage between Gaur Plains and Ice Climbing that you appear to have neglected to label.

I assume Mercado Livre and Dragonkin Realm are Fire Emblem Stages. I'm also guessing that Underworld is a Kid Icarus stage (correct me if I'm wrong on these counts). I'm able to place the rest.

Maybe you should edit your post to include the games of origin for your stages, for the purpose of clarity and reference.

Now for some general thoughts:

-Is there a character roster that this stage roster is based on? I'm assuming if so, this roster doesn't include Snake, as there is no Metal Gear stage to be seen. Since I'm gunning for K Rool, I'm also gunning for Gangplank Galleon, so the absence of that stage also hurts my heart.

-I see that you've added Nintendoland and Endless Ocean (and maybe others) as Console-specific stages, as counterparts to the Handheld-specific stages on the 3DS (Nintendogs, Streetpass, Tomodachi). I also suspect that we will be getting more Console-based stages on the Wii U, and Nintendoland in particular seems a strong candidate (though I'd be keen on Endless Ocean as well).

-I'd be interested on your rationale behind the Doctor Mario stage. I also think the DM stage should be swapped with one of the stages on the fourth row. Similarly, Nintendoland would be better suited beside or between Wuhu Island and Endless Ocean (with any other stage being swapped up to the second row).

-As for your Classic Stages, I'd disagree with Pictochat and Hanenbow; they are handheld-specific, IIRC, so it would be unfitting to have them on the Wii U version. I also question having Ice Summit there when you already have Ice Climbing as a new IC stage -- especially with Flatzone 2 being the only GW stage on the entire roster. I do like the touch of one Melee and one 64 stage, however.

I either have no qualms with the rest of your picks, or don't know enough about certain series to comment more, or to offer more fitting suggestions. A solid stage roster overall, I'd say, though I'll surely have more to say when you respond to my observations. ;)

Are you going to make a 3DS one too? I would love see one. And like Sehnsucht said, I think you should put like a little icon to represent what franchise it is, even if it is console based (the DS symbol in brawl). They are all great choices but the returning stages are odd. Picto and Hanenbow are portable, Temple has already been brought back, and I would also said Spear Pillar is handheld based.

Ruined City is from Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Living Room is from Chibi Robo
Stargazer Tower is from The Last Story

I added Dr Mario because its a fitting substitute for a tetris stage, which may be third party. I'll switch picto and hanen later, probably for a melee and a 64 stage. Lastly, I just think Nintendo Land would be a great stage. The roster for this would look something like:

Brawl Cast - Snake + Pokemon Trainer

Add:
Rosalina
Dixie Kong
Tingle
Mewtwo
Kalos Trainer
Ridley
Krystal
Robin
Palutena
Shulk
Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Little Mac
Mega Man
Pac Man

Thanks for the clarification on the stages. I'm guessing those three stages are meant to represent general (and/or successful) console series or titles, which seems to be a reasonable stage category. I could see 2-3 stages of this category in the final roster for both systems (much as you have done here).

I see that you've also named the missing stage (Skyscrapers), but if it isn't too much trouble, I would also appreciate it if you could note the game of origin. :p

Having a retro/puzzle stage like DM seems a novel idea. But is there any basis to expect such a stage? By what reasoning have you considered that this Puzzle/Retro stage archetype is necessary and/or has a good chance of being represented (unless the DM stage is simply your personal pick)?

Nintendoland would indeed be very cool. It could either be set in the main plaza, shift to the various minigames in Nintendoland, or be a mixture of both (I envision a Brawl Castle Siege type of transition between the Nintendoland minigames).

I suppose that's a fair enough character roster, though cutting Snake would be unfortunate, and I prefer K Rool over Dixie (though having them both would also be acceptable). I also suspect Takamaru to be very likely as the Retro Rep (a la Pit in Brawl).

Otherwise, your Newcomer roster has many characters that I too am rooting for, and I'm fairly indifferent on the rest (namely, Dixie/Krystal/Tingle/Kalos Trainer/Pac-Man).

Lastly, will you be doing a 3DS stage roster? I'd be interested in seeing what you have, if so; I'm less familiar with handhelds, so I could also expose myself to new ideas in the process. :)

This is not so much a prediction as just something I threw together. Its what I expect, with a few surprises thrown in. Skyscraper is from W101, and I simply expect Nintendoland and some sort of puzzle stage. Not much else to that. I wouldnt bet on Shulk, Krystal, Robin, or Kalos Trainer, but they're all possible. If I had more slots I would include the likes of K Rool, Goroh, Saki, ect. But I thought I should keep the roster semi realistic

Lastly, the roster was a complete afterthought, I just threw it together because you brought it up.

I'll post a Handheld roster eventually. I have a lot of ideas, but it's a process to make the visual

Behind your eyes.
This is not so much a prediction as just something I threw together. Its what I expect, with a few surprises thrown in. I see. With that in mind, your roster is very solid. I find the great majority of the picks to be either likely, or agreeable.

I'll be sure to comment on your Handheld roster when you get around to posting it here. It reminds me that I should get back to finalizing my own stage prediction rosters (creating custom stage icons is intensive work, after all). ;)

I guess it's safe to post 3DS stages here? As long as we show our Wii U stages later?

I hope the Wii U version gets a Nintendo Land based stage. Maybe it cycles through some of the attractions, as well as the main plaza and on top of the tower. And maybe it could have some asymmetrical play with the GamePad, the player could tap things on the screen to interact with them, like in Nintendo Land, to cause chaos for the fighters.

Height Comparison and Brawl Battlefield Comparison ~

Notes:

- The height of the platforms in Smash 4 are higher than that of Brawl. This can mean two things: 1) Larger characters are going to be in this game, as seen by Bowsers new height. Also, given that Rosalinas height doesn't quick max out the length of the area between the ground and the platform, there could be characters slightly taller (or bigger) than her (i.e. Ganondorf .... or Ridley ....) ; and 2) Gameplay could return to speeder play. Although an induction, Melee (And Project M) had higher platforms for the differed style of gameplay. Perhaps this is what will happen in the next game
- The E3 battlefiled is now altered. Before, Bowser was able to clip through the ceiling of the platform, but now it appears to have been adjusted. I compared Mario beside Bowser from E3 to Mario from the Little Mac trailer. Although he is crouched, it was harder to gauge his height. However, to make up for this, I made him shorter, so if I was off, it could be that the platforms have been moved even higher than displayed here.

If you plan on using this, please give me credit

That's hardly a fair comparison, considering the Brawl pic is at a much sharper angle than the Wii U pic.

The angle of Brawl's does make the comparison less then perfect, but it is interesting that the platforms have been raised since E3.

Pokemon stage ideas:

Maybe with all the gym leaders/elite 4 in the background on their respect badge.. err.. "tower" (I guess Elite 4 would just have their own themed platforms?) with their signature Pokemon (Brock Onix, Misty Starmie, Lt Surge Raichu, etc)

The only other viable options for console games seems like it'd just be generic stadiums from Stadium/2/Colosseum/XD/Revolution, unless they could pull out a significant area from Colosseum/XD

...I just don't want a repeat of Pokemon Stadium/2 from Melee/Brawl, you have console Pokemon games Sakurai, use em!

I want something for Starfox thats not just an "obligatory space thing so that means its totally from Starfox" stage and actually has to do with the ****ing Starfox games. Hell Id LOVE to see the Walled City from Starfox Adventures.

A simple twist on the "fight on top of the Great Fox/Pleides" thing they've been doing up until now, but without losing that classic Star Fox feel, could be stage set inside the hangar bay of the Great Fox, where the Arwings are stored. They could periodically take off and act as a different kind of hazard.
